  1. Yikes...I see people have been having success with 4* for $50...I wonder if there's a festival or something going on that weekend? I was planning on going next weekend or the weekend after this month...Thanks for sharing :)
  2. Tried $27 and $35 and it was rejected. Another day I rebid $44 ($54 w/fees and taxes) per room and got it. Red Roof Inn online with fees and taxes was $80. For the record this is the most expensive night of the year as it's the Saturday before St Pattys Day in Savannah. It's difficult to find a room with fees and taxes under $200 in the history district. A nice bonus is they have a free shuttle service that goes to historic district and back.
  3. Ok, thanks. I think I found some non-hotwire/priceline options. All travel sites seem to have a 25% sales at ballys, it's about $335 grand total without resort fees...
  4. Got it, so I take it there isn't shuttles or anything? I don't know if I stayed somewhere else if I'd visit the stratosphere...My biggest concern is that first friday being a waste and the first Saturday being expensive everywhere else...Even a taxi both ways wouldn't be that bad...
  5. Just wanted to add for an update...As stated, unfortunately Friday night really hampers my situation asI'm arriving so late to enjoy anything. Hotwire is offering a 3-star north strip Fri and Sat nights for $93.21 (out the door, although there may be resort fees)...All signs point that it's the Stratosphere, which I'm seeing people have successfully bid on priceline as low as $25/night. Again, since Friday sort of doesn't matter, could simply wake up saturday, take a taxi or bus/monorail down to the central strip and have some fun. Than do the Stratophere's rides Sat night. Check out Sunday and go to a night hotel. :)
  6. Thanks! I THINK that will be my strategy, bid on Sun-Tuesday first and see if I'm able to extend backwards. I would be willing to stay in two different locations. I'll probably book on the first of Jan.
  7. Please feel free to add or update anything. These are the buffets that you eat three times a day at. As of late summer '09 prices were: Luxor Hotel Las Vegas-$29.99 MGM Grand Hotel Las Vegas-$29.99 (Monday-Thursday) Excalibur Hotel Las Vegas-$29 Palace Station Hotel-$19.95 Stratosphere Hotel-$19.99 (Sunday-Thursday) Tropicana $24/Day Orleans $21/Day Mandalay Bay-$38/Day (Mon-Sat) Sunday $43/day These buffets include an all-you-can-eat Breakfast, all-you-can-eat Lunch, and all-you-can-eat Dinner in the same Las Vegas hotel. Most people complain about very long lines both to get a table and at the stations. Peak times are obviously going to be worse...Also you are expected to tip your server. Generally lunch and dinner are the same kind of food and some places have been known to change the name of dishes even though it the same recipe. A lot of people report the food is the same even on different days.
  8. I land in vegas at 9pm on 1/15; I understand it'll prob be 10:30pm before I'm actually checked in. I'm most likely just going to go to bed. The main question I have, if you use various non-bid travel sites, Friday and Saturday are drastically more than Sun-Thurs. What's the overall experience with weekends vs weekdays on priceline? Would a strategy be to bid only for Friday-Saturday night first? Than try to extend days if successful? Even if extend isn't an option, book Sunday and Monday separately? Thanks
  9. I've used BB and PRICELINE several times and had always been happy in the past, but not this time although it was my fault. I am familiar with the area and the hotels. I was hoping for a place with an indoor pool, all 2.5*+ have them listed here on BB in the towns of Raynham and Middleboro. First and foremost I bid $35 than $40 for a 2.5* in Raynham-Middleboro. Came back with nothing. I than took a stab by lowering the star rating to 2* at $35 as I was more interested in staying in Raynham/Middleboro than a pool. I did know there are some 2* that had indoor pools but know others didn't. I got the "we'll contact you in 15mins" than it gives me Extended StayAmerica Norton. I was under the impression if it said Raynham-Middleboro it would only include those two but it isn't the case as I learned by checking the map. I would of settled for no pool in middleboro/raynham, but now I'm almost 40mins from my family and no pool. :) I called PRICELINE and offered to pay $50/night for the same nights if they re-book a 2.5*+ and they declined. Live and learn...I'll try to make the best out of it :)
  10. Bid $30, and it countered with $8 more so I bid $38 a night and got it.
