  1. Expedia had this hotel listed at $106CAD, but decided to try Priceline to see if I could save a couple of bucks. Probably came pretty close to being the same price once you factor in the exchange rate and additional PRICELINE fees. Direct reservations through the hotel website were $109US, and they also had a special offer for $110US including parking. Decided to book via PRICELINE (using the Betterbidding link) and take our chances with street parking instead.
  2. Decided to extend our stay in Portland by one night, so booked another night via PRICELINE (using the Betterbidding link). I was actually attempting to get a hotel in the City Center (hopefully at the place I was already staying at via my other Priceline win), but messed up the bidding strategy by not re-checking the star level in each zone. Turns out the Lloyd Center area maximum level increased to 3.5-stars, and I ended up winning a hotel there. I believe I overpaid compared to the usual last-minute 3.5-star wins in the Lloyd area, and could have gotten the room cheaper if I was solely bidding for that zone from the beginning.
  3. Bid for Sept 24-30 for almost two weeks at both 4-star and 3.5-star levels, before finally deciding to split our dates out. Rates were sky-high during the weekday, so we ended up booking a backup/separate reservation (not using PRICELINE or HOTWIRE) outside of the city center for Sept 24-27, and used PRICELINE (via the Betterbidding link, of course!) for the above weekend win.
  4. Used the PRICELINE link from the Better Bidding site. I believe this resort also has a $19USD/day resort fee.
  5. Been bidding for 4 days, using the BetterBidding PRICELINE link, and a rebid strategy to span several ranges: Day 1: $58-84 Day 2: $70-105 Day 3: $80-120 Day 4: $82-95 I was going to up my bid range today, but received an email tonight about a Priceline sale. I thought the reduced rates might make it more likely that one of my lower bids would be accepted, so I started low and was pleasantly surprised when my $95 bid was accepted! This will be my first time to Chicago, so I'm excited!
  6. Used the Betterbidding PRICELINE link to start at $40, adding rebid zones until my bid of $51/night was accepted.
  7. Used the PRICELINE link and started bidding at $40 for 4* Hotel in Phoenix (Scottsdale). Added rebid zones for increments of $2 up to an accepted bid of $52/night. Regarding the resort fee, I found the following info at the official hotel website (including an estimate for the same dates of $337/night!): "A Resort Fee of $20 per room, per night will be assessed. The fee covers the following items: High speed wired Internet access in the guest room, golf bag storage, bicycle rental, tennis court time, local telephone calls, incoming/outgoing faxes, International faxes, In-room safe, Health Club admission and shopping shuttle. 19SEP11-01FEB12 As we make way for our exciting new pool slide, we have closed the Clock Tower slide. All of the pools, beach and hot tubs remain open for guests to enjoy."
  8. I know, see my new priceline portland post for my bid history! I've been trying for 4 days, and finally ended up getting a 3* in Lake Oswego area for $95. Lloyd-Convention and Jantzen Beach were complete sold out when I searched on the normal PRICELINE site. Must be some sort of event in town.
  9. Both my wife and I have been bidding for the past couple of day. Jul 18 Started with 4* Downtown, using all other areas as rebid zones. I started at $50 and went up to $80. All rejected. Jul 19 Started with 3* Lake Oswego, re-bid with Downtown, Lloyd. Bid from $35-$50. All rejected. Jul 20 Started with 3* Lake Oswego, re-bid with Downtown, Lloyd. Bid from $53-$65. All rejected. Jul 21 Started with 3* Lake Oswego, re-bid with Lloyd only. Bid $65, 75, 85 (all rejected). Accepted at $95 for the Crowne Plaza. For comparison, AAA rate on Crowne Plaza's website for the same period was $116/night. Edit: Oh yeah, I also used the betterbidding PRICELINE link!
  10. 11. I actually booked two rooms seperately (both were accepted at $95) - one on Feb 5 and one on Feb 13.
  12. Sorry for the late posting of this info (I'm new to the site). This booking was made on Feb 3/09. Does this information get automatically loaded by somebody onto the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins?
  13. My first bid was accepted yesterday (Feb 19) for $73. I'm new to PRICELINE and your website has been an invaluable source of information (especially the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins!). I thought I should register and try to contribute to the community. Didn't know about the use of the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links from this site to make bookings, but I'll definitely do that in future. Thanks!
