  1. I decided to go with PRICELINE EXPRESS and followed your link. It did say bed choice available, but there was nowhere to do that, so I will have to call the hotel. Free Parking Restaurant Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> Castle Hilo Hawaiian
  2. We have those 4 nights between a conference hotel in Waikiloa and a VRBO in Volcano, so those dates can't move just what I do with them. We did tentatively book a few extra nights at conference hotel but it is a bit $$$, so trying to find alternative. For the Waikiloa place at $113 per night FULL AMENITIES: Free parking, Free Internet, 1-bedroom suite, Full kitchen, Laundry in room, Fitness center, Pool(s), Front desk, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby, Tennis nearby, Spa services, Kitchenette I can't get the Kona one to come up on bidding helper. There are two on the regular hotwire at that price but one on the easy view with Free parking, Free Internet, Pool(s), Internet access
  3. As posted in the Priceline Hilo - we have a Waikoloa reservation we can cancel/alter so checking for best deals, itinerary before locking in anything in Hilo Can hotels add any fees not listed in the info? These are the lower prices options but there are a few other ones I am looking at 3-star Condo in Waikoloa - Kohala Coast area $114per night Aug 4-8 Complimentary Free InternetFree parking Amenities 1-bedroom suiteFitness centerFront deskFull kitchenLaundry in roomPool(s)Self-service laundry Guessing Paniola Greens 3-star Condo in Kailua - Kona area $120 per night Aug 4-8 Complimentary Free InternetFree parking Amenities 1-bedroom suiteAir conditioningFull kitchenLaundry in roomOceanfront hotelPool(s)Smoke-free rooms Guessing Kona By the Sea
  4. One more thing - I am looking at moving things around a bit as far as our Kona side - I know that when you pay on hotwire/priceline they add in fees and taxes and you know them before you pay. Can the resort also hit you with cleaning fees or amenity fees after the fact?
  5. Thanks. Is there any bidding strategies that would work here (haven't dont this part before). Only zone with lower star levels is Pahala
  6. I booked a hotel through last minute travel in South Beach - at the time the board had a way to know the secret hotel before you booked. Not sure if that is still the case.
  7. I am looking for 1 night in Hilo on August 7. There are 3.5* options in both Priceline and Hotwire at $101 and $99 respectively. Firstly are these 3.5* the Castle Hilo Hawaiian? Amenities Priceline Free Parking Restaurant Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool No Smoking Rooms/Facilities Hotwire Free Internet Free parking Golf nearby Oceanfront hotel Pool(s )Restaurant(s) Self-service laundry Smoke-free rooms Hotwire also has a bed choice (assume if I put 3 people they have to give 2 doubles or 2 queens) Secondly - if I decide to bid on Priceline, how far out is best to do this and any tips - for the 3.5* it's $127 median retail. And on a different topic - I booked a 2 week car rental a while back from Kona airport return as a backup. Any help in getting the best deal there is appreciated.
  8. Thanks, cool site. I have some backup options booked, but noticed on (Four Points) not in you list.
  9. My own poking on this board and trip advisor has also left me stumped. Seems there are a lot of people that come up with these or others in Miami beach and South Beach, but like me don't want to commit without some idea of the hotel. Is Priceline any better for this area, I'm a little weary that I cannot specify that there will be 2 kids with us on there though. I don't want to end up with a hotel we don't fit in.
  10. There are a couple of places coming up now. The highest rated without being overly $$ is Miami Beach area hotel 3*, Beachfront, Restaurant, Pool, High Speed Internet Access about $143 a night. If I go for lower: 2.5* Miami Beach hotel, Beachfront, Fitness Center, Hi Speed Internet, Pool, Laundry (self service) for $134 per night and a 2.5* Miami Beach Condo, Beachfront, Studio, Smoke Free, Pool, Air Conditioning, Front Desk, Laundry, Spa, Kitchenette, Fitness Center $127 Any thoughts on these? Thanks
  11. Thanks. Great news on the upcoming tool for precruise hotels. I can wait a bit to see if more options become available, we only booked airfare on Friday. But if I book a backup hotel I'll have to go with a refundable options, which is quite the jump. How far in advance do you find you are getting the best deals. There are some nice places 4 Points etc that people have had good deals on but they are kindof pricy at the moment. Same goes for the Intercontinental (which I guess is close to Holiday Inn above, but not exactly on the beach), only deal I can get to come up is Government. We often book government rate without issue, just a little weary of what qualifies for them.
  12. Looking at under $150, would like even lower. I might consider a little higher for a great place.
  13. We ended up booking at Paris as the rate from Air Canada's site was good.
  14. Hi, we are travelling as a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) and will be spending 2 nights pre-cruise in Miami April 26-28. I'm a little weary of priceline as there is no place to enter 4 people in a room. I just tried looking at hotwire and am at a bit of a loss, some really expensive and cheaper ones are 1 star or unknown. We are looking at Miami Beach, South Beach, possibly downtown. We won't have a car so don't want to be in the middle of nowhere, want a pool, free breakfast would be a nice perk. What howtire areas should I be looking in, what hotels should I try to get, and when is the best time to book. Thanks
  15. Ok thanks. I'll continue to check as I have several months to to book. I'm thinking that the Paris or the Bellagio would be a nice option if I can get them.
  16. The conference rate is $120 for some of the days but $150+ on the weekends. Booking directly results in an average rate of $108. I'm basically looking for a better rate for Bally's. If I can get a better hotel - nice rooms, nice big pool area, not stinking of smoke - that is within 5 minutes or so walk for a great rates compared to what I'd pay booking direct and still within $120 price range - that would be an option. When I narrow the results down to center strip - I only get 3 hotels, Flamingo, Trump Towers(5* studio, kitchen etc) and a 2.5* one with no TA ratings. Am I looking in the correct zone? We are not gamblers, but we need firstly to be close to DH's meetings, 2nd nice pool area, safe and close to shops and stuff for me and also we hope to score some reduced entertainment tickets, so proximity to those is important too.
  17. Thanks - I must have found a different Flamingo listing when I checked TA. We're fairly set at staying at the conference hotel. They do have their own promos but the weekend rates are really high. We might consider another hotel closeby but it would have to be a good hotel with a great price deal. Any suggestions of something I could find on Hotwire (or Priceline but I'm not really familiar with their process). We stayed at the Mirage a few years back, which we enjoyed.
  18. Hi - I replied to that thread again. We decided not to go to Venice.
  19. Hi - I decided not to go to Venice as transportation details seemed a little complicated.
  20. Hi - I am planning to go to Vegas May 30-June 6 2010 and need to book Ballys to correspond to a conference for him. University thing so no unlimited budget plus we could end up paying a weekend night or two and they are the expensive ones. I just checked hotwire. The closest I found: May 30-June 6 2010 3.5 central strip: casino, swimming, restaurant, business center, hi speed inet, golf nearby, tennis nearby, spa services the only thing different 3.5* based on 2060 reviews which Ballys does not have and I have not found any that do yet Cost $74 a night plus $66.29 recovery So my ?s are is this Ballys or is there a better route to use to book Also when should I book as this is a while away. I booked my airline tickets as they were on points.
  21. Thanks for trying. I won't be booking quite yet, I need to have firm dates and flights. And it seems like they are using Mestre to include a very big area. We will be doing a few trips during our year here, so I am checking out the options. There are not many hotels on HOTWIRE that take 4 in a room and PRICELINE does not even give me the option to put them in for the search. The other option is to try to get 2 very cheap rooms.
  22. I should probably have said that I suspect one is the Holiday Inn, only because I know it is available via Hotwire. Though because I am putting children in the room, the options that come up are limited. Yes, it was 3.5/5 for the 2.5* property. Thanks, tried to double-check before I sent but hotwire was giving me problems when I went to go back in.
  23. I entered April 14-18 in Venice and received 2 options in Mestre. I know one is the Holiday Inn but which one and what is the other? 3.5* $86 per night, weight room, restaurant, business centre, internet. sounds like the Holiday Inn but it says it is rated 4/5 in Trip Advisor with 60+reviews. Only other option I can think of is Hotel Plaza 2.5* $69 per night, breakfast and internet 3/5 in TA with 20+ reviews the reviews sound like Holiday Inn the amenities sounds like the Trieste Is Hotwire accurate when posting TA ratings? Any thoughts on the above. I've heard the Holiday Inn is further away than other Mestre hotels which are close to the Treviso bus and train station.
