  1. Hi, Just had some fun bidding and happily got the hotel we wanted for 115 dollars per night. 1. $80 for 4* in Montreal - rejected. 2. $90 for 4* (added Laval - no 4*s there) -rejected. 3. $100 for 4* (added Longeuil - no 4* there) - rejected but gave me an automatic other bid if I would add $25 - said no. 4. $115 for 4* (added Point Clair - no 4*s there either) and was given the 4* InterContinental for the three nights.
  2. oops, I had used your link but then in the rebidding process I probably forgot to go back through betterbidding each time. I bet that's a common error.
  3. Bid $35. per night and got it. I had wanted to stay closer to Providence in Cranston but had no luck bidding on a 3* there (the $43 price that someone else on the board got for June 24-26 would not come through for June 25-27). This option works out nicely, it's closer to Newport. Thanks.
  4. I have not stayed at the New Haven Omni, but I will say that the Marriott Courtyard at Yale is very nice. The rooms have all been renovated, it's very clean, neat, comfortable beds and nice linens, two complimentary bottles of Poland Springs water, large flat screen tvs, etc... I could go on and on how comfortable the rooms are, especially for the PRICELINE price. You do have to pay $15 per night for parking. But overall, it's a great deal.
  5. First bid 3* $55 for New Haven, rejected, then added Hamden/North Haven $65, which was then accepted. Thanks.
  6. First bid of $60.00 got me a room at the New Haven Marriott Courtyard on Sunday November 29, 2009.
  7. How much money can you spend? You can probably get the Intercontinental on Priceline or Hotwire for around $260, much higher than what it's going for on bids for this month (March 2009). I tried to book get it on Priceline for May to no avail. I just booked a 4* on Hotwire for May 5-12 for $164 per night at the Golden Tulip Ambra, which mostly received good reviews on TripAdvisor but it's in the Termini area, which is centrally located but certainly isn't the Spanish Steps.
  8. I just booked the 4* Golden Tulip Ambra Palace in Central Rome on HOTWIRE. Did as you recommended: purchased the first night 5/5/09-5/6/09 for $159 to id the property and then booked the rest of our stay for $164 (5/6/09-5/12/09). I am happy with this property and relieved to have finally booked a decent room for a decent rate. :) Thanks again.
  9. Thank you. Where on Hotwire do you find the TripAdvisor rating? I will bid once more on Priceline for a 4* property and if that fails will likely go ahead with Hotwire. I'll be sure to keep you updated, especially on the results (and use your links like always).
  10. Hi everyone, I'm still in pursuit of a room in Rome for the above dates. Hotwire just added to my almost daily inquiries a 4* property in Rome Central for the above dates for $163.00. 4* in Rome Central for 5/5-5/12/09 The amenities listed are: Complimentary Breakfast Business Center High-speed Internet Access Any ideas? Thanks.
  11. Thanks for posting this. I have been looking for a room in Central Rome for 5/5/09-5/12/09, and I am happy to see anything that might be available through Priceline. Rome is a challenging place to find a good, inexpensive room.
  12. Thanks for getting back to me. I looked at the hotel map and it appears that the 4 Point Sheraton Roma West is much further south than the boundary of the Hotwire Central Rome map. The Hotwire Central Zone map does dip far to the south (hardly central Rome), but still not that far south. At this point I will keep trying PRICELINE and have some backups. Given HOTWIRE's map, I'm reluctant to try, although it would be great to finally ID this property - I just don't want to be the guinea pig. BTW, I do always use your HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links.
  13. Hi everyone, I have been having a difficult time finding a reasonably priced 4* hotel in Rome Central on both Hotwire and Priceline for May 5-12, 2009. On Priceline, I have so far bid up to $136 for a 4* (and will keep trying) and up to $187 for a 5*. On Hotwire there is a 3.5* property in Central Rome for $109, and it looks as though betterbidding readers have inquired about it although it doesn't appear to have been IDed correctly yet. The amenities are airport shuttle, fitness center, pool, restaurant, and business center. Some did say it might be the Four Points Sheraton Roma, but that's in the West part of the city and Hotwire ids this as in Central. Any ideas? The Rome Central section appears to go very far south on the map so I'm wondering if they've redrawn the map for this place. Thanks.
  14. Did all bidding for Latin Quarter. Started bidding at $94, was offered a 4* for $134, but rejected and kept bidding ($101, $111) and finally $123 was accepted for the Paris Marriott Rive Gauche.
  15. It does not look as though the PRICELINE map includes that area in the Central Zone.
  16. First bid $115 for 4* in Opera Quarter East dates 5/3-5/5, rejected and told that there was a room for $143. Refused. 2 days later, $125 bid for 4* Opera Quarter East same dates rejected. 2 days later, $137 bid for 4* Opera Quarter East same dates and accepted at 4* Novotel Paris.
  17. Thank you. I may try some bidding on Priceline and will let you know how this turns out either way. I will also be sure to use your links to these sites.
  18. Hello, I am looking at a 4* property for dates 5/3-5/5, $152. It's in the Champs-Elysees/Trocadero section and lists amenities as a restaurant, business center, and high speed Internet access. Thanks for any help with this.
  19. I am looking at a property on Hotwire for dates of May 9 through 11, 2009 in Florence. The property is listed as 3.5* for $142 and lists amenities as pool, restaurant on premises and high speed internet access. Is anyone familiar with this property in Florence or have any other ideas about other properties there? Thank you.
