  1. Hi,

Thanks for those points ... I did try the CanadaHotelExperts.com site and they said they could give me a hotel for $104 CDN plus fees and taxes. Came to to a total of about $126 CDN (approx. $93 US with tax / fees).

Since it seems like the 2.5 and 2* levels are new for Toronto Downtown I think will try my bid and see what happens. I will let you know.

  2. Hi,

If you are looking for a hotel in Canada and don't have any luck with Priceline or Hotwire, you might want to try: http://www.canadahotelexperts.com .

Their prices for Toronto Downtown hotels are slightly higher than the priceline bids I have seen posted here but it is another option.

Like Hotwire you don't know what hotel you are going to get ... you get to select the area you want to say in, the number of stars, and then they give you a price and fees / taxes. You find out what your hotel is after you confirm your reservation.

My wife got two nights at the Marriott on Bloor for $99 CDN / (approx. 73 US) which isn't bad (not great but not bad when the Marriot site gives the cheapest rate as $199 CDN ... OUCH!)

  3. Hello,

I am looking for a hotel downtown Toronto for the night of August 10th. Started with a 3*, went through the re-bidding process by adding areas to the bid that didn't have 3 or 4* hotels, then even added the Don Valley area which does have 3*s ...

Now maybe I am being cheap but I started bidding at 35, and progressed up to 55 (I know I started off too low :)

So now I am asking if I should check the 2.5* box for this bid or wait the 72 hours and start again. The only area I currently have in this bid that specifically has 2.5*s listed is the Toronto Downtown area ...

My question is ... does anyone one know which hotels I might get if I add the 2.5* hotel to this bid. I checked the hotel list given on here and there are no 2.5*'s listed. Also, if anyone knows which hotels might be given under the 2*s I would love to get that info too ... for future reference.

    Thanks again.

  4. Hi,

I am new to Priceline and this BB ... apologize if I missed the answer to this.

In a number of posts I see people talking about 'free' re-bids? I have only used Priceline twice, once to get a hotel in London, UK and I am still trying for one night in Toronto next week.

For the Toronto bid, I used the method for rebidding suggested by using differnt areas of the city with lower than desired hotel stars. I went through 4 bids, each one a little higher but then ran out of areas before I 'bid enough'. Was each re-bid not a free re-bid? When is a re-bid not free?

Also, I have not yet seen a 'counter offer'. When does this happen? Does your bid have to be within a certain number of $'s of what a hotel would accept to get a counter offer or does it only happen with certain locations / hotels?

Thanks for your help and, again, for the great info on this board.

  5. Hi all,

Thanks to all for bid info and info on how we Canadians can use Priceline.com.

Congratulations, you got your price of $70 for a 4-star hotel room

    Holiday Inn Kensington Forum

    97 Cromwell Road

    London, United Kingdom

    Check in: September 8, 2004

    Check out: September 11, 2004

    Your Offer Price: $70.00

    Number of Rooms: 1

    Number of Nights: 3

    Subtotal: $210.00

    Taxes & Service Fees: $45.60

    Total Charges: $255.60

Got the hotel on my first bid ... it was my 'first time' so I to go a little higher than some I saw here (WillTravel got the same hotel for $64 I believe). But still this is a great deal considering the HI website has the hotel for a 'low' 84 GBP.
