  1. Hi .. Bid $38 for a 3* in Toronto Airport area. Rejected but given free re-bid if I increased my bid by $11. Ignored this, rebid with Toronto Airport and Toronto East area for $42 accepted! Marriott Toronto Airport Offer Price: $42.00 US Taxes / Fees: $11.00 US Total Charges: $53.00 US Flipphone ON, Canada :)
  2. Hi all, It may already have been noted, but has Priceline changed its zones for Toronto Canada? Seems to me the Don Valley zone is much different and the Vaughan - North York zone now takes in the top of what used to be the Don Valley zone. If you want a hotel in the north east of Toronto you are sort of stuck because you might end up getting something that is over by the 400 instead of something closer to the 404. Frustrating! :)
  3. Crowne Plaza Hotel Toronto-Don Valley, ON 1250 Eglinton Ave East North York, Ontario M3C 1J3 Canada (416) 449-4111 1 room; 1 nights $64 per night plus fees / taxes of $15.95 = $79.95
  4. Bid at $45 based on the recent posting, rejected. :) Offered free re-bid at if I added $13 ... didn't do that :) Bid at $50 by adding another zone ... accepted. :o 1 night (June 9th) - Renaissance Toronto Downtown at the Rogers Centre Offer Price: $50 (US) Taxes/fees: $11.80 (US) Total: $61.80 (US)
  5. Hi, Got the Intercontinental, 200 Bloor St. West for $65.00 Accepted my first bid at $65. Bid higher than usual because I was a little short of time. 1 night @ $65.00 Tax/Fee: $13.45 Total: $78.45 Flipphone ON, Canada
  6. Bid at $40 for a 3* - rejected Re-bid at $42 for a 2.5* - accepted with an 'upgrade' to a 3* Radisson Hotel Kitchener *** Check-In Date: Thu, Nov 11, 2004 Check-Out Date: Sat, Nov 13, 2004 Your Offer Price: $42.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $84.00 (US dollars) Taxes & Service Fees: $13.20 (US dollars) Total Charges: $97.20 (US dollars) Flipphone, Ontario Canada
  7. Thereuare, Starwood.com is showing a rate of $119 CDN for a CAA/AAA rate and $87 CDN for a Government rate ... taxes added to both rates at, I think, 12%. I make my Priceline bid at ~63.65 all in. So I figure I am almost $40 ahead of the best rate available from the hotel / chain. Flipphone ON, Canada
  8. Just goes to show .... Bid for one night at 2.5* level at 38$ and was rejected. One option was to add another zone (Cambridge, Halton Hills, Hamilton) ... Cambridge would have been OK but I can't believe they think that Halton Hills or Hamilton is 'close' to Kitchener. Anyway, I decided to check :) the 2* category and tried at $39. The result: Congratulations, you got your price of $39 for a hotel room, and we've upgraded your hotel quality level to a 2
  9. ohbahsan, Do you mind telling us which Quality Hotel you got (i.e. the specific address)? I only ask because I think there ar a couple of Quality Hotels around the airport. I think you are right about that with the CDN $ gaining ground finding cheap hotels in Toronto is much more difficult ... especially downtown. Since I actually pay in CDN $ it isn't much of a problem but for US travellers I think they will begin to see a big difference. Of course it works the other way for us folks from the North when travelling south! Thanks Flipphone ON, Canada
  10. Started at $34 for 3*, asked to add $9 decided not to Added another zone (Burlington), raised bid to $36 - rejected Added another zone (Scarborough), raised bid to $38 - rejected Added another zone (Toronto East), raised bid to $40 - accepted. 12. Sort of goofed up here ... wanted a downtown hotel and added the wrong area to my rebid and now I am stuck way up in Markham. Oh well ... live an learn. Congratulations, you got your price of $44 for a 3-star hotel room. Holiday Inn Hotel And Suites Toronto Markham Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $44.00 (US dollars) Taxes & Service Fees: $10.27 (US dollars) Total Charges: $54.27 (US dollars) Flipphone
  13. Randi66, Well I am here now ... reasonable room with two doubles, coffee, all the expected mod cons. Plus free high speed - which I guess is just about to be expected these days. I am not sure what hotel comes up for downtown but I would think the Hilton is a good guess. Flipphone ON, Canada
  14. Lancer, Not sure if you have stayed at this hotel before. I have a number of time and it is a nice hotel, good 'suite' type rooms, a nice resturant, pool, etc. It isn't exactly close to anything (i.e. walking to anywhere isn't really an option) but it is an easy drive to shopping (look for the mall on your right as you drive up the 406). There is a 'shortcut' to the falls from that hotel ... take Hwy 58 and then get on to Thorold Stone Road ... stay on it, going around the curve where it turns into Stanley Ave, then turn left onto Bridge Street ... go to the end of the road and you will be on River Road. A right turn takes you up to the falls. Not sure if you needed that info but thought I would add it JIC. Flipphone ON, Canada
  15. Thereuare, Yep ... it is in the London Sout zone. Only two zones on Priceline for London, ON, Canada. No hotels there on Hotwire as far as I could tell. London South is near the 401 so it is a good place to stay if you are just passing through. Has reasonable resturants and shopping nearby and it is an easy drive to downtown and the University of Western Ontario. I am actually doing some work north of the city so really a downtown hotel would have been closer, but II can get to where I need to be quicker from the south because I can hop on the 401 and then head north on a road that bypasses the city centre. 16. Hi all, Thanks for your comments and suggestions. Excellent advice. Flipphone ON, Canada
  17. Hi, Does anyone know if a Priceline stay is eligible for Gold Rewards points when staying at a Radisson hotel? Any comments / thoughts on any other benefits of being a Gold Rewards member (e.g better service at hotel, room upgrades, free phone, etc.)? Thanks for any comments / input. Flipphone ON, Canada
  18. Tried this at $38, got an offer to up my bid by $11 but decided to wait to rebid. Note: I could have added London downtown but I didn't really want to stay downtown and I had a couple of weeks so I thought I would wait. Congratulations, you got your price of $44 for a 3-star hotel room Radisson Hotel And Suites London Check-In Date: Sunday, August 29, 2004 Check-Out Date: Wednesday, September 1, 2004 Your Offer Price: $44.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $132.00 (US dollars) Taxes & Service Fees: $15.92 (US dollars) Total Charges: $147.92 (US dollars) ... $49.31 per night with fees / taxes or about $65.58 (CDN) a night when charged to my M/C. Web rate at this hotel is $94 (CDN) plus taxes or ~ 108 a night (Government rate was higher than this ...) Pretty good deal!
  19. I would say that all of the hotels listed on the within walking distance but then I like to walk! The ones up at 'Bloor' street and the Hilton are a good stroll away. The Sheraton is quite close and the Marriot at the Eaton Centre is not too far. The King Eddie is not quite as close. The Strathcona is not too far but not as nice as the Sheraton. They are all a simple and quick subway ride down to Union Station and from there is is about a 10 min walk to the Metro Convention Centre. If you get the Intercontinental on Front Street you are 'there'. Second closes is the Sheraton. Hope that is of some help. Flipphone ON, Canada
  20. Hi, Just talked to a buddy who is looking at getting a hotel through SkyAuctions.com ... wants 7 nights in Orlando Florida and Extended Stay America has an auction (2 days left) starting and still at $1 (US) a night. I told him I would ask the experts ... so here is the question. If anyone has heard about / used this site I would appreicate hearing your thoughts / comments. Thanks. Flipphone ON, Canada
  21. Hello, Just heard about this. If you are looking for a room in Downtown Montreal you might want to look at the Montreal Y Hotel (rated 2*). Recently fully refurbished - 30 double rooms with private bathrooms, etc. See the link below. http://www.ydesfemmesmtl.org/English/indexE.html Rates are $85 CDN plus taxes (about $79 US with taxes) a night for a double with private bathroom in High Season ($75 CDN low season). May not be for everyone or as good a rate as you can get via Priceline but it is another option. My brother and his sig-ot are going to stay here in a couple of weeks so I will try to remember to get a review from him and post it up. Flipphone ON, Canada
  22. Thereuare, Here is what it said - direct from Hotwire. -------- This hotel features the following amenities: Restaurant(s) At least one restaurant is located on the hotel premises. Pool(s) Hotel features at least one pool area. (Note: This amenity offering may be seasonal. Please check hours/availability directly with the hotel.) Fitness Center Hotel features exercise equipment. Business Center Hotel offers guests access to business equipment/services. ------- Didn't that all come through on the first post? Hope that helps. Flipphone ON, Canada
  23. After messing up my rebids on Priceline ... checked Hotwire for a hotel in Downtown Toronto and the Toronto - Don Valley area. Got a quote for a 3* at $48 US ($61.95 with fees / taxes). I was a little reluctant to accept the offer, even though it is a good price, because Hotwire has a very broad view of what is in the Don Valley area ... as their map of the area shows. So I thought I would probably end up with a hotel in the north end of the area but was hoping for something a little further south. But since I have lots of time to work with and don't actually have to be downtown first thing in the morning I thought I would take a chance. A decent hotel anywhere in the Toronto area for under $85 CDN a night (including all taxes) is a pretty good deal. Here is what I ended up with: Radisson Hotel Toronto East 55 Hallcrown Place North York, ON M2J 4R1 Canada (416) 493-7000 1 room(s) @ $48.00 per night x 1 night(s) $48.00 Taxes and fees: $13.95 Hotel Subtotal $61.95 Total Price $61.95 Flipphone ON, Canada
  24. Well, I goofed up my rebid. I think I should of started new, with just looking at Toronto Downtown, with the 2.5, 3, & 4 star hotels checked. And then added the other areas as I raised my bid amount. I think that would have worked ... since I was adding an new star level (?) But what I did was just added the 2.5* level to the bid with all the differnt area checked and then my first bid of $54 (still maybe thinking a little too low) was rejected. So I think I will wait the 72 hours and retry this on Sat or Sunday. If I don't get it I will look at Hotwire and the CanadaHotelExperts.com as backups. Flipphone ON, Canada
