  1. I took the plunge and went ahead and booked this trip through HOTWIRE, using the link provided, of course. October 12-14, 2009 Las Vegas - 5* - Central Strip $119 per night Ammenties Listed Casino Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services No Tripadvisor information provided. This turned out to be a match for the Venetian. I'm not really disappointed, other than if I had of booked a week or two back I could have got $109 a night direct through the Venetian website. So the possibility of getting the Wynn cost me $20, but that's life. I only wanted the Wynn because I have stayed there a few times and really enjoyed it, and I tend to go with what I know. Never stayed at the Venetian, but I'm sure it will probably be lovely and in the end give me two options in Las Vegas for the future. Thanks again for all your help.
  2. Just an update... I ended up deciding with this one that because I am getting into Vegas at probably 3-4am in the morning of the 23rd, and leaving just over 24 hours later, that there was no point in going overboard with the booking. I had no need to be on the strip either. In the end I booked South Point for the 2 nights, at $62 a night. I am, however, going to take a HOTWIRE punt on my other 2 nights. I will use your HOTWIRE link. I'm hoping to get the Wynn, but will be ok if I end up with the Venetian. I will update the other thread with my result. Thanks for your help.
  3. Yeah, I tend to think it is probably the Wynn because I'm pretty sure it WAS the Venetian at some stage, but then it randomly changed. If it is still the Venetian, I'm not sure why it would change. I guess they may have their reasons. Thanks for the help, as with the other, I might wait a little be longer and see if things change. I will be sure to update the thread if anything changes or I book something, and I will be sure to use the links provided if/when I go with HOTWIRE.
  4. Thanks for the clarification. As I'm sure you noted in the other thread, these are in fact 2 separate stays, hence the new topic. I'm aware that there are some set procedures to keep things running smoothly around here, and to make it easier to reference for others, hence why I asked for the clarification before posting. :-)
  5. My dates, for both stays, are firm. I will definitely be having 2 separate stays, one Oct 12-14 before I fly to NYC, and one on my way back Oct 22-24. I've been ready to commit to the purchase for months. The Oct 12-14 dates I have been waiting patiently because I would like to stay at the Wynn. I have been hoping the hotel direct release some discount codes for the dates, but nothing as of yet. I have used Hotwire for the Wynn in the past, so that was my other option. Should I get close to the dates and the Wynn doesn't look likely, The Venetian will be a more than acceptable alternative. The Oct 22-24 dates I am less inclined to go overboard price wise, because I won't be getting in until the early hours of the 23rd, and leaving earlyish on the 24th, so whilst I will have to pay for 2 nights, I will really only be staying a little over 24 hours. Planet Hollywood at $139 might be the way to go there. Whilst I am aware no one can be sure of which results Hotwire will produce for Oct 12-14, I think it looks likely it will be the Wynn or Venetian, so I was hoping the experts might give me their thoughts on which way it MIGHT go. Any input appreciated. :-)
  6. Hi All, Just another one that I am interested in some input on... A few weeks ago I put up these dates, and whilst I don't recall the exact amenities, the ones listed as well as the Tripadvisor information definitely lead me to believe that it was a match for the Venetian. Whilst the price of $119 has not changed, the amenities do seem to have changed a little. It is now coming up... Las Vegas (Central Strip) 5* Oct 12-14 - $119 per night Amenities: - Casino - Fitness Center - Pool - Restaurant - Business Center - Golf - Tennis - Spa Also, the Tripadvisor information that was there has been removed. Looks to be likely that it could be the Venetian or the Wynn... Any thoughts or inklings as to which is more likely? Again, appreciate the help.
  7. Thanks for that, I will follow up when I decide what to do. Have some time to play with, so will sit on it for a while I think! Thanks for your help, I will start a new thread.
  8. Thanks for the thoughts on that one, I might mull it over and see what happens in the next few days. Quick forum etiquette question... I have another few nights, a few weeks earlier (Oct 12-14) that I am looking at as well, and could use some assistance. Is it preferred to carry on in this thread, or start a new one? Thanks again!
  9. Hi Guys, First I will again thank you all for the invaluable assistance you provide us all. I am looking for 2 nights, Thurs Oct 22 to Sat Oct 24. I am little confused by the result on Hotwire. I am being shown... Las Vegas (Central Strip) 4* - $139 Ammenties: Casino Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center High Speed Internet Spa Going by recent wins, and the hotel list, this seems likely a match for Planet Hollywood to me. But having said that, this is where I get confused... Tripadvisor Rating 3.5 out of 5.0 Based on 1920+ customer reviews (Last reviewed August 2009) Treasure Island is 4.0 out of 5.0 based on 1940 at the moment on Tripadvisor, whilst Planet Hollywood is 3.5 out of 5.0 based on 2028 reviews. Doesn't seem to match up. Anyone have any thoughts on which way this one might go?
  10. Sorry to rehash an old thread - my question is just based on this concept... A lot of the rental car companies obviously charge a drop fee for one way rentals. Is this included in your Priceline bid? I have a few one way rentals I would like to make in my upcoming holiday - the first of which is picking up at LAX on March 30 at 10:00am, and returning to Las Vegas Airport at 10:00am on April 2. So a 3 day rental. Several of the companies I have looked at charge a $150 drop fee. Is a potential drop fee included in the final priceline price? Or is this excluded and not known until you get to the counter? Any savings would be well and truly lost if when I picked up the car they charged me a $150 drop fee. Any help appreciated...
  11. Seems like a sensational plan to me. I have gone ahead and made the reservation with Quikbook for the Affinia Manhattan. I did go through and read the cancellation policy, and although I am not 100% sure whether I have to call the hotel direct, or Quikbook, should I want to cancel, I know I can cancel if required. It did give me an option as I went through, to chose either a 1 Bed room or a 2 Bed room. The price was the same, so obviously I went ahead and selected 2 Beds. Hopefully it will work out, I will call over the next few days and chat to them on the phone. Also, I of course used the Quikbook link you provided. I will definately keep an eye on Hotwire over the coming months, but at the end of the day, if they can give me a 2 bed room, in that location (I have tickets to a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden, would like to see Times Square, Empire State Building, and a show on Broadway - location is perfect) then I will be perfectly happy with that deal. Again, can't thank you guys enough for the help. I'm very pleased with my current booking, and it can only get better, so that's a lot of stress lifted! Thanks!
  12. Yes, I see much potential in this Affinia Manhattan. The only turn off I can see so far is a lack of internet, but I suppose beggars can't be choosers. :-) It seems I have to sign up with Quikbook and start to go through with the booking before I can read the fine print, can't seem to find it anywhere. I will definately look into this, and if I go ahead, I will be sure to book using the link provided. Once the booking is made, seeings it says "1 Bed/2 Bed" - should I ring the hotel direct and try and arrange a 2 bed room? I assume by the fact that the hotel is all suites, even if I end up in a 1 Bed, I should have room for a rollaway or something? Looks like it has much potential. Again, your help is greatly appreciated. :-)
  13. No worries, I'm keeping up. I'm glad you are struggling with the early morning there, I'm struggling with the late night here. :-) To be honest I would probably rather not take the risk, and pay a bit extra and be assured of 2 beds. I wouldn't have too much problem trying it out if it wasn't for the fact that if it fell through, I'd be stuck with the reservation. Lack of cancellation makes me not really want to take the risk, because it's not like I can just cancel and stay somewhere further out. Hope I'm not being a pain. :-) I could probably live with the $40 jump for the piece of mind. Do you have any idea what hotel I would be looking at in this range?
  14. Yeah, when searching HOTWIRE I have been sure to say 3 people, as I knew that the chance of getting a room with 2 beds, whilst searching for only 2 people, is minimal. Your help is much appreciated!
  15. Only the two. However I'm taking my Dad, so obviously will require 2 beds. I understand that two bed rooms often go for a premium, but I thought I would take a stab at using HOTWIRE to try and get a reasonably priced room, before giving up and getting something that isn't on Manhattan. Do you think my goal can be achieved, or am I pushing my luck? :-)
  16. Hi Guys, First off just want to say thanks for all the valuable information. I hope this is ok, just after some forum recommendations, and also ideas of what hotels I might end up with in NYC.... It will be my first trip to NYC, and am only slightly familiar with the different areas. Basically I am after a nice hotel with the following... *Availability April 13 - 16, 2009. *Close proximity to touristy areas. Preferably somewhere around Times Square, or Madison Square Garden or Empire State Building sort of area. *Room with 2 beds. When searching on Hotwire I have been putting in 3 people, as I assume this is the only way to guarantee 2 beds? *Ideally would like to keep the cost around the $200 mark. *4 star would be great, but can settle for less as long as the hotel has reasonable reviews. Does anyone have any input on what area I should be searching, and any suggestions as to what hotel I could end up with? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks guys!
