  1. New entry for the list, found using the HOTWIRE link. Rate is about $2 more than the published advance rate on the hotel's website. Even if I get the refund this does not fit with the concept of booking at Hotwire in the first place. This is not the first time this happened to me recently. As usual, HOTWIRE won't kick out the hotel supplier, though. :)
  2. oh, and forgot to mention that as always I used the PRICELINE links (or, to be exact, the search box on top of this page) :-)
  3. bid $50, got counteroffer for $65, but instead added a free rebid zone and successfully bid $54. Price including taxes is approx. $65. On the hotel website, the non-refundable advance rate is ~$155, but I guess that's including taxes, so the net price would be ~$145.
  4. one thing to know about the Singapore site is that they do not guarantee you the best rate available. I once did an opaque booking on the SG site, and the rate I got was higher than the published rate of the hotel. They also made clear to me in their emails that that's the way it works. So personally I cannot recommend using the SG site. Your mileage may vary, of course.
  5. I have never seen this before. Are you using PRICELINE.com?
  6. Tried bidding for 3.5* and 4* Bellevue properties for the last few days, with very little luck. Today started with the PRICELINE search box in the top right corner for 3.5* and $70, continued with $80 and $90 and finally got the Sheraton Bellevue (~$111 including taxes and PL fees). Maybe should have used smaller steps, since there are so many rebid zones. Online rate is $151 including taxes, so the savings were not that great this time.
  7. was bidding for this area and star level over the course of a few days about a week ago, bidding my way up to 45$. After pausing for a week, I started again with $46 -- which was accepted immediately (total was around $60). Best internet rate is $99 + taxes, amounting to $111. Tried something new this time and did not use the PRICELINE link as usual, but the Priceline search box on top of the page. :-)
  8. After clicking on the HOTWIRE link I got this property with these amenities listed: Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby No surprises here :-) Note that this hotel got listed even though I searched the New York area. Given that most Manhattan Hotwire properties for these dates are >200$ I was quite happy to see this option :-)
  9. Used the HOTWIRE link to book this hotel. Amenities shown: Complimentary breakfast, restaurant, business center, hi-speed internet. No surprises here. :-)
  10. ah well, the post prompted me to bid again, and $52 it was (see separate priceline win post). Thanks! :)
  11. started with $50, was offered to rebid $60. Instead I later bit $52 and that got accepted. Total costs including taxes & fees are approximately $130. Used the PRICELINE link for all bids.
  12. Hi jackyw, saw that post, but failed with ~$55 a few weeks ago :)
  13. thanks for the advice. I was bidding yesterday for 5* Siam Square for Jan 6-8, 2011. Tried 65$ and was offered the chance to rebid 80$. Tried 69$ and was offered the chance to rebid 84$. Wanted to try 74$ today, but for about 10$/day more I get the same rate for (supposedly) the Pullman, but including breakfast.
  14. The Westin is just outside of those areas of Munich where residents get special parking licenses. There are opportunities to park outside for free, however many of them are limited to one or two hours. There is a public parking garage, but IIRC it is quite expensive. The Westin itself might offer similar amenities (for a fee). Since the subway is very close to the Westin and takes you to central station in 10 minutes or so, you really might want to park your car and explore the city using public transportation :)
  15. actually, the Westin Grand Arabellapark Munich is the former Arabella Sheraton. Starwood is phasing out its Sheraton brand; so it's the same hotel. Interesting to see that it now is ranked as a 5* and not as a 4.5* as previously.
  16. Started with the PRICELINE link (as usual) and $60. Got a counteroffer of 77$. Instead I used the free rebid zone "Kreuzberg" and bid $63, which was accepted (~75$ incl. taxes and fees). Nice deal, since I wanted specifically this hotel and the retail price is ~175$ for a single room, ~190$ for a double room.
  17. No surprises here. $126.86 incl. taxes. Amenities: Complimentary breakfast, high-speed internet. Used the HOTWIRE link, as always :-)
  18. oh, I am sorry, completely forgot about the amenities. :) They were the usual ones also mentioned in the hotel list: Complimentary Breakfast Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access
  19. Saw this hotel at Hotwire for a total of about $128 including taxes a few days ago (probably about $49 per night). But I thought I'd think about this, which proved to be a mistake, since the hotel went up the next day. Problem is that it is available for <50$ for 7/2/10-7/3/10 but not available at all for 7/3/10-7/4/10. Still managed to book both nights, but paid $69x2 plus taxes, totalling ~ $178. Still an acceptable deal. Used the HOTWIRE link, as usual.
  20. could be the Hilton Islington (which I got for June, actually), or the Club Quarters Gracechurch, or the Crowne Plaza Shoreditch.
  21. update: Hotwire changed something with their system today and now the TripAdvisor rating does show up for that hotel, and does not match the Hilton Canary Wharf (which has the same rating since the last few months). So it's most probably another hotel :)
  22. sure, but the hotel also appears for later days. Someone needs to bite the bullet soon ;-)
  23. This would fit the Hilton Canary Wharf. OTOH most 4* should offer these amenities, so I am speculating, of course. But I would be curious to find out ;-)
