  1. Sorry for the delayed post. Wanted a nice place downtown, started at $120, raised by $10 with rebids until hitting at $150. Very happy with win, great hotel, perfect location. Westin site had it for $210.
  2. Got it with opening bid of $60. Marriott was offering it at $154.
  3. keizers I'd be real curious as to your experience with this property. TripAdvisor has several bad reviews by folks who got sub-standard rooms booking via lastminute.com. I wonder if they do the same for PL bids. Please let us know how it is for you. Thanks.
  4. Was surprised to get this, but not too disappointed. Seems to have decent reviews, formerly known as Wingate Inn. This looks like a new addition to list. I was expecting something like the Courtyard, Fairfield, Hilton Garden or Residence Inn. The hotels I mentioned were all showing over $100, so that was the reason for my price point, but got it on first bid so I know I didn't get a deal, $84 is the BW AAA rate. Hotel details are: Best Western Coyote Point Inn 480 North Bayshore Boulevard San Mateo, California 94401
  5. I think it might have been the Crowne Plaza Peninsula - but ended up going with a Priceline bid (also posted here) so not able to confirm.
  6. Any help would be appreciated. Bid dates 6/25-29. Hotel shows with following: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center
  7. I was bid over multiple days starting with $55, working my way up to $63 where they accepted. Each day my first bid was offered an immediate buy for $17 more - whether I had started at $58 or $60 or $62. I used the free rebid zone at Luton. This was the hotel I was looking for, so I'm happy.
  8. Your Offer Price: US$95.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: US$95.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$30.92 Total Charges: US$125.92 Bids were $85, $90, $91 and $95. Was offered the immediate purchase for $22 more when starting.
  9. I used all the rebids, $60, $62, $64, $66, $68 then hit at $70. Happier with this than the Quorum!
  10. Started at $60, offered an immediate buy for $17 more. I declined and re-bid up till getting accepted at $70.
  11. Looking for one night 7/9, Westshore-TPA area. The hotel in question comes up for $79 and shows as 3.5*, Customer Favorite with Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center and Tennis Nearby. From the hotel list its similar to the Quorum but not identical. If it is the Quorum, that would be great, if it's something like the Doubletree (formerly a 3.5*) I wouldn't be so thrilled.
  12. First bid accepted (I hate it when that happens, always think I could have gone lower). Nonetheless, very happy with results, sounds like a nice place. Rack rates around $150. Total for two rooms w/taxes and fees $141.78.
  13. Bid for my son, on the road traveling. Put bid in at 10 PM for same night stay. Started at $33 with Airport area, thought I'd get the Holiday Inn. Kept raising bid and adding zones, finally added Downtown and got the Courtyard. Rack rate through Marriot.com is $169, so I'd say it's a pretty good deal. Total with fees is $64.87
  14. Excellent, low-cost 3* hotel. I found it to be an very good value for my $36 winning bid. I have also stayed previously at a similar price. Externally not impressive, low-rise, dated looking building. Somewhat of a spawling building complex, this results in a potentially long walk to the room. However it is offset for guests with vehicles, you can park all around the perimeter and enter the buildings from the closest entrance. Pull into the front and get your room assignment and directions before parking. Parking is free and plentiful. Rooms are average size and seem to have been recently updated. The beds are wonderful. I repeat, the very best part about the hotel is the VERY comfortable beds. They have great mattresses, soft, high-end sheets that fit, both foam and feather pillows and an excellent comforter (not bedspread). I would stay at this place just for the beds. This makes it stand apart from most other thirty-something priced rooms with poor fitting sheets, lumpy and hard mattresses and questionable pillows. Very nice restaurant in the lobby, Shula's (like the coach). Modern and attractive with good menu, a little pricey but some reasonable priced items on it. Reception check-in is quick and friendly. Nice indoor pool open all year with indoor/outdoor pool for warmer weather. Internet is not free :) Hotel is right on I64 with easy access, only about 5 miles from I95.
  15. Thanks, I think you may be right. I decided to go with a more predictable outcome, Sheraton West End via Priceline at $36. I've posted the results. Actually was aiming for this one. I've stayed here before, decent place and a good value. Started at $34, rebid in $1 increments, hit at $36. Bid was for two rooms.
  16. Trying to ID this place 3-star hotel in South Richmond - Chester - Hopewell, 1 night $41 Amenities: Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary. Complimentary Breakfast <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Pool(s) Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal. Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Laundry Facilities <amenity names only please... not descriptions> I'm just looking for a bed for the night, passing through on I95. I don't want to risk the 2 or 2.5 * places, they can be pretty dodgy. Priceline doesn't show any 3 * in this zone. From xpedia I'm seeing Courtyard or Homewood Suites, but don't know if those would come up for this. Thanks for any suggestions.
  17. Started with $45, rejected added Springfield zone and upped it to $50, accepted.
  18. Thought I'd end up with the Marriott Pooks Hill, got the Suites instead. Sounds nice, although it looks like they may charge for parking. Got it on first bid, $48. I hate it when that happens - makes me think I could have gotten it for less. :)
  19. Holiday Inn Select Opryland Airport Started at $36, rebid at 38, 40 then hit at $42. Good location, mixed reviews on TripAdvisor, but recent ones make it sound ok.
  20. First off, I agree with theruare, I think your Avis deal is a good one, you may just find that is the best you'll get. If you want to underbid it, it is still worth a shot. Rental car bidding is different from the hotel bidding, you are only bidding on one type of car at a time, not adding car types like you can add hotel star levels to a bid. For example, you could bid $15/day for a compact. After you enter your bid, you can see the cost including fees by proceeding to the next screen where you would verify your credit card. The total cost will be listed on that page. Compare that to your total cost from Avis before deciding to proceed. If the bid is not accepted, you could try a larger or smaller car and increase the bid amount. Or you could wait your timeout period and keep trying for a compact. For rental cars you have to wait seven days before rebidding, but you do have lots of time until your trip. Hope this helps a little. Like you've probably seen elsewhere, Priceline is not the greatest for rental cars, but sometimes can give you a deal.
  21. Started at $34, offered immediate purchase for $9 more. I declined, added Bedford zone and rebid at $35, got it. Never goes below $35, but pretty consistently available at $35.
  22. Just wanted to report back that the hotel was fine, no complaints at all. It is an older hotel, but very well maintained and clean. The room condition was good, nice beddings, decent furniture and somewhat worn but still very acceptable carpet. They had a sample of the new room decor down in the lobby, after the renovation it will be very nice. The staff was friendly, no "priceline attitude". I'd have no hesitations staying again, it was a good value.
  23. Needed one night for somewhere between Falls Church and Bethesda. No luck in VA, so went to Bethesda zone. Started with $45, offered room for $13 more, I declined and added Laurel to rebid, got it at $50. Total with fees $63.48. This is the regular Marriott on Pooks Hill Road, not the Suites. Web site shows lowest rates of $109, but also is a little scary because it mentions "Hotel guest rooms under renovation from 7/18/05 through 9/27/05". Does that mean I'm getting a room only days away from being renovated (and desparately needing it?) I'll report back....
