My suggestion is to join the Hilton Honors program and after you get your membership # call the hotel and tell them you want to add your Hilton Honors # to the reservation and that you would like to request a room with two beds. Once you get to the hotel check in where Honor members check in and kindly request that if you don't have a room with two beds, could you please have one. Make sure you bring your card and show it to them. I have done this several times and have never been denied a room with two beds. Sometimes my Hilton Honors membership was credited for my stay. However I always bring a blow up mattress in case.

I have gone up to $85 for a 4* in Michigan ave and Loop area with no takers. Also tried up to $85 for a 3* in Michigan ave area and no takers. My dates were for 11/27-11/29. Just FYI

I have stayed at the Palmer House, it is a Grand hotel. It is a older hotel and just has a different decor compared to the Hyatt. It was very clean and everybody was very nice and helpful. The only complaint I would have is that some of the rooms are pretty small. ex. you might only have 6-8' around the 3 sides of the bed to walk around. Since you only have two people it wont be an issue and like everybody says "how much time are you going to spend in your room anyway"
