  1. Very satisfied with this win for 2 nights (Thursday & Friday) just ahead of the Labour Day week-end... Optimal bid ($69 had been rejected), while a $77 offer likely for the same property as an "express deal". FYI, hotel website listed from $93 for the first night and from $149 for the second night.
  2. Very lowest price for this Wednesday night stay (as I bid in $1 increments...) As a reference, was proposed as "express deal" for $38, and on the hotel website from $49.
  3. I has been a while since any hotel was reported here for this secondary Paris airport. ORY is of great interest to me since BA's return, and it is a much more convenient airport than CDG... $73 was my first attempt for this Thursday night stay. There is no free rebid zone for Orly, so it is not that easy to find the lowest rate. As an indication, Priceline offered for that day a $152 "sale rate", discounted from $183. An an additional point of reference, back in early September 2011, I had a 1st bid accepted for a next day stay at the Hilton Orly for $86.
  4. I really do like this place... and wanted to further extend my stay for a 3rd night. I could no longer use the Priceline "extend your stay" option, so I had to try a new bid. But as the cheapest going rate for that night on the hotel website was $339, I thought my chances were close to nil. I was wrong! So let me check: $44 vs $339, a 87% discount. Needless to say, a new personal best! :)
  5. I was so satisfied with this property after checking in that I decided to try to extend my stay, using the Priceline option. I did not have high expectations, as the going prepaid rate on the hotel web site was significantly higher for this Sunday night stay ($161 vs. $98 for the initial Saturday night). But the extension bid was successful, resulting in a 72% saving! May well be my personal best :)
  6. Same day booking for a saturday night stay. Started at $42. Counteroffered at $57. Won with a $2 increment. Price on hotel website was $98.
  7. First bid, and a nice surprise! (was stoically expecting to get the less desirable Renaissance after upping the ante to $90...) I consider the Marriott to be second best behind Hyatt on Palm Beach... As a reference, $179 (non refundable) on the hotel website for that day :)
  8. May I suggest to have a look at my recent priceline win regarding the Sheraton Convention Center? It may be of interest to you jrchapma... :)
  9. Based on other reported wins aound these dates, rather typical PRICELINE rate for this property, with $99 being the very lowest acceptable rate ($98 got rejected). Additional context: - Lowest rate on hotel web site was $245 (advance purchase); - Hotwire match was $129.
  10. Extremely happy with this win after weeks of unsuccessful attempts from Resort down to 3* for up to $116 in the San Juan area (must be a busy night in SJ...) Brand new hotel (opened late 2009) listed as a 4* on other major travel sites and 3.5* on Hotwire. I am fully aware that the location may not be ideal for a full vacation week, but this will be my first night on the island arriving on a late flight (will have a rental car and later drive to the Wyndham Rio Mar Resort, see my other winning priceline bid). Additional context: - Cheapest rate was $219 on hotel web site for that night, and most certainly $118 on Hotwire; - Initial bid at *3 level was $86, counter-offered at +$22 (very first time in 3 weeks), rebid using free rebid zone at $88 and... bingo!
  11. Tried to at least replicate my previous $91 bet at the *5 Marriott, starting from $81, but eventually won this property for 3 rooms on a Saturday night (best available rate on hotel web site was EUR 149). Please note that a nice full buffet breakfast is included in the PRICELINE rate! Found that the Imperial is a less "typical hotel" than the Marriott, but except from its magnificent tiled breakfast/dining room, it may be a little puzzling in terms of style/decor (other common areas are probably not "really *5"...). Overall an excellent alternative in the same area as the Marriott (but incl. breakfast :) )
  12. Arriving on a late flight from Europe, was in fact targeting a *2.5 hotel in the LAS zone... Started bidding $35 for LAS (declined), added South Strip and was "upgraded" to this *3 property (an addition to you list, thereuare). I guess that was a reminder not to base a strategy on a "free rebid zone" that would result in an undesired "upgrade"! :) Anyway, this place may be an interesting "experience" after all... As a reference, rates were in a $69-$99 range on hotel website for that night.
  13. Previously reported deal, and the absolute minimum for this friday night stay (my $44 initial bid was counter-offered at $50 :) ). As a reference, best rate for the night on hotel website was $209.
  14. Nice to see this excellent deal still around :) This property was rated 4.5 (15st out of 502 hotels in Berlin) as of 10/24/07!
  15. Secured 2 rooms after several unsuccessful incremental bids from $45. As I was each time counter-offered (from $13 to $17), I hoped I would be able to get a winner before $55, but I am still quite happy :) As a reference, best offer on marriott.com was EUR99, i.e. approx. $140 (incl. taxes), to be compared with $71 (incl. taxes/fees) on Priceline, i.e. a 50% discount. Tried to extend my stay with an earlier check-in, though unsuccessfully (but rate was EUR129 on marriott.com on that day, so I guess that was to be expected)...
  16. Just to add that rate showing on check-in document was $64.75. So $65 would probably get you there!
  17. Win on first try for this "day before" bid. A retrospective check on the very nice LA Priceline Map showed lowest wins at $65 for the property. As a reference, $159 was the cheapest rate offered on the hotel website on this saturday night stay.
  18. Initially wanted to get the MIA Airport area, where a first $61 bid was unsuccessful. Extended to Coral Gables, and got the Doubletree for $65. I guess I should have started a new bid with the Coral Gables area to check if $61 (or less...) would have been accepted... As I was quite happy to stay one additional night in this area, I made a new bid for the following day. $58 was accepted on my first try. As a reference, the website rate of the hotel was $149.
  19. Same day bid. Winning my first try at $101 was a surprise, as attempts up to $121 over the previous days had been unsuccessful. As a reference, rate on Hilton web site was $279 and likely match on hotwire was $149.
  20. $101 bid was for the next day. As it was my first bid, I thought I probably overpaid, so instead of extending my stay, I made a new bid for the following day at $86, which was also successful. I came to consider that it was an interesting bidding strategy not to aim too low for a last minute stay, but to place a first bid for one night only, and then try a lower bid for the following day, keeping the option to extend the stay at the same rate if the lower bid was not successful. As a reference, the best rate offered by the hotel web site was $179 for both nights, and the most likely match from hotwire was $153. This property is actually the former Sheraton Beach Resort (thereuare, you may want to update the list).
  21. Not so happy to win this property, but got it for $53 after an unsuccessful $48 bid for a 3* in the Coral Gables - Coconut Grove area. As a reference, $149 on the HI web site and a likely match for $72 on Hotwire...
  22. First bid was $55 for a 4* at BOS (1 night). Declined, with counter offer (+$17). Added free rebid zone and successful $59 bid. Later added following night using Priceline option. FYI, Hyatt.com rate was $129 for both nights.
  23. Began bidding for 3 nights from $96 and applied $5 increments (adding Dorado - as I find the Hyatt even more desirable - and Mayaguez Isabella - a free rebid zone), but then had to restrict the bid to 2 nights for a new pass. I was eventually awarded the Westin Rio Mar for $121. As a reference, rate on starwoodhotels.com was $349 at the time of booking, and when I checked-in, occupancy rate was 97%! I also tried unsuccessfully to extend my stay by one night (starwoodhotels.com rate was then higher, at $399, so I suppose a successful PL bid would have also required a higher amount). For information, I did not have to pay any resort fee (although PL told me I would when I checked with them).
