  1. This hotel is in a very good quiet area on North Druid Hills just a half mile or so northwest of I-85. Everything in my room was clean and in good working order. Room same as any other ESA: full-size fridge, sink, range, microwave, toaster, coffee maker. There was a basic set of dishes and silverware for two, and a couple of pans. The hallways reeked of cooking smells, but inside the room smelled fresh. Some TV noise could be heard from adjacent rooms. The room had a couch; a large dresser; a large closet; iron and board. The bathroom only had a couple of small soap bars, no shampoo. Maid service is weekly, with a "refresher" mid-week. Free parking, local and 800 calls. No breakfast, no paper. Wireless high-speed Internet is available for a one-time fee per stay. No additional taxes/fees charged, they didn't even ask for a credit card for incidentals.

  3. Check-In Date: Monday, September 3, 2007 Check-Out Date: Tuesday, September 4, 2007 Hotel Name: Esa Atl-Clairmont 3115 Clairmont Road Atlanta, Georgia 30329 Your Offer Price: $38.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $38.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $12.74 Total Charges: $50.74
  4. The hotel manager laughed at me. Turns out that regular booking on their website, with AAA discount, would have been cheaper than Priceline, due to Priceline's fees. Really bad deal. AAA rate 1 night (1 Room): USD 48.59 Taxes: USD 6.32 Total: USD 54.91
  5. Check-In Date: Sunday, September 2, 2007 Check-Out Date: Monday, September 3, 2007 Hotel Name: Days Inn Wheeler Road 3654 Wheeler Road Augusta, Georgia 30909 Your Offer Price: $44.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $44.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $13.24 Total Charges: $57.24 Days Inn a 2*? We'll see. $45 rejected in Augusta and Fort Gordon. $42 rejected in Augusta West. Would've been a total of only $4 more had I booked directly on the hotel's website. Bad Priceline deal.
  6. This is probably the Travelodge San Francisco Airport North. It's a 2-star on Hotwire; 1-star on Priceline. Not a very nice property, but for one night it can do. The restaurant is the IHOP next door. When it's available for $35 on HOTWIRE, it might be available for $30 or less on Priceline.

  8. Check-In Date: Saturday, September 1, 2007 Check-Out Date: Sunday, September 2, 2007 Hotel Name: Extendedstaydeluxe Atl-Lenox 3967 Peachtree Road Atlanta, Georgia 30319 Your Offer Price: $44.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $44.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $13.78 Total Charges: $57.78 $43 for 2* rejected in Buckhead, Northlake, Downtown, Midtown. $80 on the hotel's website. Good reviews on TripAdvisor. Once again United Airlines had a crazy fare (SFO-ATL-SFO non-stops for $129 plus $30 tax), I just had to go.
  9. This property is now a Doubletree hotel. It is already shown on the hotel list as a 3-star hotel.
  10. I'm here again two years later. This time my room is not very clean. The floor and kitchen cabinets are sticky, the furniture worn, the TV remote broken. In the cabinet under the bathroom sink there is a finished toilet paper roll and some used tissues. The stairs are filthy, littered with trash.
  11. Check-In Date: Saturday, August 18, 2007 Check-Out Date: Sunday, August 19, 2007 Hotel Name: Esa San Jose-Milpitas 1000 Hillview Court Milpitas, California 95035 Your Offer Price: $34.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $34.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $11.06 Total Charges: $45.06 $40 for 2.5* rejected in Milpitas, Sunnyvale $40 for 2* rejected in San Jose $33 for 2* rejected in Milpitas
  12. This is a nice 3* hotel. The room was large, clean and in good state of repair. It had two queen beds with feathersoft tops and way too many pillows; desk; dresser; closet; iron and board; two phones with two lines; coffee maker. The bathroom was very small. The down blanket was inappropriate for Santa Clara summer weather. Terribly warm. I had to turn on the airconditioner to a very low temperature setting, but then it was too noisy to sleep with it on. The hotel is undergoing renovations but there was no disturbance. My room had not been renovated yet. Still, it was at what I consider the high-end of 3*. If this hotel were in San Francisco, they would surely rate it 4* as it is not any worse than the Hyatt Regency. Soundproofing was good. I was given a room in the executive tower on the top (15th) floor with view all the way to the East Bay hills. All phone calls except 800 incur a connection fee, plus applicable toll. An optional High-speed Internet (wired and wireless) plus unlimited nationwide phone service package can be puchased for $9.95/night. You can surf free at the lobby of the Holiday Inn or while dining/drinking at Bennigan's across the road. There is a bar and a restaurant as well as a Starbucks kiosk. Parking: $9/night. Free parking is available on a street in the back of the hotel or at the Holiday Inn/Bennigan's parking lot. Free newspaper delivered to room. Front desk: very nice and friendly. The restaurant offers a breakfast buffet for a very good price.
  13. Free street parking just two blocks away on Geary west of Gough. Mind the street cleaning signs.
  14. That's the state of things here now. I haven't been able to get a hotel in any SF zone in the last few weeks for up to $60.
  15. Pick-Up/Drop-Off: Lambert St Louis Intl Rental Car Company: Budget Car Class: Economy (unlimited mileage) Pick-Up Date: Friday, August 10, 2007 Pick-Up Time: 2:30 PM Drop-Off Date: Monday, August 13, 2007 Drop-Off Time: 2:30 PM Your Offer Price: $10.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 3 days Subtotal: $30.00 Taxes and Fees: $17.03 Total Charges: $47.03 Lowest Published Price: $83.11 Total Savings: $36.08 (You saved 43%) $9 rejected for Economy with a $10 counteroffer; $10 was rejected for Midsize/Compact. It was important in this situation to start a new bid for the attempt at Midsize/Compact, so I could return to the previous Economy bid and take the counteroffer.
  16. Well, I've arrived, the gal at the desk was very nice and put me in an executive room on the top floor (room isn't nicer than any, though). They write the room number and the rate on the card-key envelope. Mine shows $39. Found free parking on the street right behind the hotel, and free (and fast!) Internet access at the lobby of the Holiday Inn across the street, where I'm typing this. I might actually park at the HI, it's not gated and I don't see any parking permits in the cars. The ESA Milpitas is still bookable on their website for this weekend for $65... wonder why that is, if they're sold out as they had told you. Good to see you still here, Beach07, you've been silent.
  17. Check-In Date: Friday, August 3, 2007 Check-Out Date: Sunday, August 5, 2007 Hotel Name: Marriott Santa Clara/Silicon Valley 2700 Mission College Blvd Santa Clara, California 95052 Your Offer Price: $44.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $88.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $17.96 Total Charges: $105.96 I believe this is the highest I've ever had to bid in the San Jose area. My attempts at 2*, which I usually win for $34, were rejected up to $39...! Despite published rate being totally normal for this weekend. $42 for 2.5* was rejected in San Jose, Milpitas, Sunnyvale, Cupertino. Not only expensive, but also ended up with a hotel that charges $9/day for parking and $10/day for Internet access. Not a good deal at all.
  18. This is no longer valid. I drove by today and the city has placed 2-hour parking restriction signs, including weekends :)
  19. Yes, I did like this hotel last time I was in STL, and I definitely like this rate! And most of all I'm thrilled about the dirt cheap flight: $129 (total with all taxes) roundtrip SFO-STL on UA. Found it posted on FlyerTalk.
  20. Check-In Date: Friday, August 10, 2007 Check-Out Date: Monday, August 13, 2007 Hotel Name: Homestead St Louis-Westport 12161 Lackland Road Saint Louis, Missouri 63146 Your Offer Price: $25.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $75.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $19.29 Total Charges: $94.29 Accepted on first attempt at 2*. $70 on the hotel's website. $40 bids for 2.5* were rejected in Downtown, Clayton, Westport and Chesterfield.
  21. Are agents able to offer rewards other than $ voucher or free flight? For example, could I ask for a system upgrade certificate and would they have the ability to grant such? A system upgrade would be much more valuable to me than a free ticket or a few hundreds of Dollars.
  22. You can park your car free on Harrison St. between Spear St. and Fremont St., and then walk to your hotel. Pick it up when your stay is over. Also on Spear and Main streets between Harrison and Bryant. Just don't leave it parked in one spot for more than 76 hours, and pay attention to the street cleaning signs. There are occasional break-ins though. If you get the Whitcomb hotel or the Civic Center Holiday Inn, you can park free in the two alleys that run from Mission Street to Howard Street between 9th street and 10th street. In the above locations, you will have to arrive in the evening to find a space. Another location, which is safer for the car and always available, is Corbett Ave west (up the hill) of Mars Street. I've never seen a break-in there. Here too, mind the street cleaning signs and don't exceed 76 hours. You can get from here to the Castro muni station on bus 37.
  23. Check-In Date: Friday, July 27, 2007 Check-Out Date: Sunday, July 29, 2007 Hotel Name: Esa San Jose-Milpitas 1000 Hillview Court Milpitas, California 95035 Your Offer Price: $34.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $68.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $15.34 Total Charges: $83.34 I was very worried about getting the Park Inn, so it was a relief when it came back with the good old ESA. $40 for 2* rejected in San Jose and Cupertino. $40 for 2.5* rejected in Sunnyvale and Milpitas. $33 for 2* rejected in Milpitas.
  24. smooshiefaceinc: note that the $5 insurance only applies "in the event of unforeseen illness and injury". It does not give you the option to cancel your booking just because you don't like the hotel. Sorry...
