  1. it isn't yet clarified if the Marriott Brooklyn is now also 4* as the Sheraton Brooklyn?
  2. here comes the "much more": 3-star Hotel in Mira Mesa This Hotel features the following amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower 4.0 out of 5 Traveler rating provided by TripAdvisor
  3. Hyatt House Sorrento Mesa was reported so far as 3,5* Hotel at HW in San Diego's Mira Mesa region. However hotels.com (mother site of HW) has classified this hotel now September 2012 as 3* - PL wins the Hyatt House as 2,5* I'm looking for Feb 28th to Mar 2nd, 2013 and they show me $64 3* Hotel with "Free Parking, Free Breakfast, Free Internet" and much more... is this the Hyatt house (as we know they offer their Suites on the official market ($220) and sell the 1 queen bed-double rooms via PL and HW) Thanks for your advice!
  4. Marriott was 3,5* since yesterday - but it's 4* now ...
  5. according to my understanding there are no Dorint Novotel anymore as the partnership has been canceled 5 years ago? This should be the Novotel Frankfurt?
  6. express booking showed a 4* hotel $64 - decided to use bidding and started with $52 at airport - continued with $55 in central got the Maritim-offical rate is 132€ - maybe they have older rooms which arenot renovated? edit: just read that priceline rooms are lower floor older decor....
  7. started with $60 got counter offer to buy it for $69 - rejected, added free rebid zone South and increased to $62 - got as expected the Marriott Hotel - great place- best bargain!!
  8. OK seriously PL has done the 100% refund inofficially no emails, only phonecalls... it happend once to a stay in Frankfurt, Marriott was donwngraded from 5* to 4* but I noticed this only after the stay. Maybe you folks in the US use PL/HW only couple of days before the trip but Europeans with 4-6 weeks yearly holiday often book PL/HW hotels months ahead (which isnot really smart but they want to be sure to have a hotel room) - if you do this, the chance to get a deal which is later downgraded is higher. Priceline/HW should honor this somehow as they also collect the money from you months before the stay (hotel gets paid only after check-out)
  9. Hotwire has obviously downgraded my hotel I bought 3 month ago - I noticed this after my stay only (evaluation form shows 3* instead of 3,5*) and sent email to their customer service. first reply: didn't understand the problem 2nd reply: "Thank you again for contacting Hotwire. Hotwire did lower the star rating by 1/2 a star. I have added 15 HotDollars to your account that you can use toward your next air, car or hotel booking with Hotwire." I don't want 15 credits I want 100%refund as priceline does in such cases - any ideas?
  10. No nothing, seems that they covered the 0.12 Tourism Assessment Fee themselves I learnt that Newport beach is a upscale city with wealthy inhabitants - why do they charge such a ridiculously low fees? And on the other side the work hand-in-hand with the Hyatt hotel to urge their guests to park at their parking? BTW: the hotel is by far below 4* - we are right now in 2,5* BW+Heritage Inn Benicia which was a $52 win with similar style but Wifi, breakfast and parking included plus it's a much bigger room!
  11. follow up: 1. priceline rooms are the dark "motel-style" rooms with pool view - no balcony even the webpage says this! 2. free parking is gone: bayside street parking is only from 6ap-10pm - no overnight parking :o So add $20++ to your priceline win to be added - I suppose the fine would be much more so I'll most likely opt for paying the $20 extra to avoid any tow-aways/tireboots Ok the rate I paid was 50% of the official one I'd need to pay today for tomorrow night stay...
  12. Yes maybe in bigger cities and private older hotels - but how come Hotwire rates this 3,5*, PL only 2,5* - at least hotwire could change the 2-people search to the $20 higher charge Still a good Suite-Hotel (after our stay in 2008) but the double-room isnot really an option for a "Hyatt House" brand!!
  13. just to follow up here: we had some longer discussion/negotiation yesterday with the reception at Hyatt House San Diego (ex-Woodfin Suites): - they sell their suites exklusively via the Hyatt Webpage - the "double-rooms" via Priceline (2,5*) and hotwire (3,5*) - the double rooms are basically ok but (!!) the only have QUEENSIZE beds - for 1 guest this seems to be suitable but for a couple it's a quite tight bed :( - they offer to upgrade for $20++/night what I refused as I we booked a rooms for 2 persons at hotwire and the bed isnot suitable for 2! - after manager approval we got upgraded to a suite with king size bed :) I asked the receptionist to change the lower hotwire price for 1 person searches and the $20 more to the 2-persons search - however there is already a "problem" that hotwire rates this 3,5* and priceline 2,5*!!! Also the 3,5* should mean a specific size of bed, shouldn't it?
  14. one question to this win: HOTWIRE shows in the "evaluation" page (send to customer after check-out) that this is a 3* Hotel... I wonder if HOTWIRE will also refund 100% of the paid amount in such cases as PRICELINE does?
  15. strange reporting: this is a 3,5* Hotel also for the above mentioned period... maybe this was a hotwire.com win? Hotwire is selling this as 4* Hotel
  16. Just to complete: the mentioned fair is http://www.game-connection.com/gameconn/ and later that week: http://www.gdconf.com/
  17. Please correct the bidding zone to CA - Napa - Sonoma (Benicia) There seems to be a fair keeping the San Fransisco rates (and wins) quite high - even at the airport and Marin County (went up to for 4* $100 in Frisco, airport 4* up to $90 but no sucess). As we have a car anyway I decided to take Napa-bidding zone into account - there are serveral offers here at hotwire starting for 4* around $75, 3,5* at $79 etc. but somehow hotwire has its own *-rating system: the Hyatt Vineyard Creek which is likely to be the 4* for 74 bucks is 3,5* at PL and TA.... I tried 4* up to $90 without sucess. so I changed my strategy: Benicia seems to be a new bidding zone... with my starting bid of $50 I got a counter offer to increase $20 to $70 I decided to add "upper Napa" as this was the other option for a good 2,5* deal (so worries if the win would have been there) and increase my bid - as recommended!! - only $2 B) Got the Heritage Inn Benicia (Best Western Plus) which should even include breakfast (wifi, parking) - does anybody know if this property distinguish between "normal" guests and priceline guest about the breakfast?
  18. Thanks, so the hotel tax in CA is nowadays 12%? - Truely the 0,12 USD tourism tax is not worth to talk about
  19. this is a 4* Hotel - problem is that many users nowadays use the prepared "report new win" template here on your website and forget to change the star level!
  20. started with $55, then $65, $75 - last trial $85 and got the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach Thanks to Tripadvisor: valet and self parking are pricey, so just park for free on back bay street, and it is just a short walk to the main building... :D I wonder why TA, hotels.com, Expedia.com rates this hotel 3,5* but PL as 4*? did they recently do any renovations? Hope that these old tube TVs are gone.... WTH: they chare for using the microwave? come on? when do they start chargeing for daily cleaning??? price at hotelwebsite: $135++ Edit: what is that message: Please note additional charges are a 12% tax plus 0.16 tourism assessment. Effective January 1 2012 each room night will be charged a 0.12 Tourism Assessment Fee in addition to listed fees in accordance with the city's new tax structure. 12% of which rate? They don't know what I paid? - you can be sure that I won't leave my creditcard at the reception
  21. Munich Renaissance is closed now - and as Tripadvisor seems to know it will become a Pullmann (most likely after a real 100% decor replacement) http://www.tripadvisor.ie/ShowUserReviews-g187309-d199631-r115843901-Pullman_Munich-Munich_Bavaria.html http://www.virtualtourist.com/hotels/Europe/Germany/Bavaria/Munich-36623/Hotels_and_Accommodations-Munich-HOTEL_CLOSED_AS_OF_DEC_22_11_Renaissance_Munich_Hotel-BR-1.html
  22. tried 5* all areas (except Airport) up to $85 but failed closed browser and started 4* Munich North - wanted to try first $65 but decided to start with $70 and won immediately the Munich Marriott - I've been here before 3 nights - The Marriott is much better than the recently closed (because old and worn) Renaissance next door! Sauna is great and parking outside should be free of charge in the streets (was 2010) please change Marriott is 4* of course!!
  23. Hi, the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur is now 3* and also won as 3* at PL!
