  1. unfortunately the savings with hotwire opaque are only 5% compared to the priceline non-opaque full flexible offer Personally I think the won rate is too high for this old property (was formerly a HolidayInn, we won 5 years ago with priceline for 50 bucks, more motel than hotel, not really 3*) Free Parking Free Breakfast High-Speed Internet Access The latter is also free of charge, the motel has a pool (indoor+outdoor)
  2. offial non-refundable rate is $125 so almost 50% savings :D Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Pet friendly Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Golf Nearby Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Priceline had similar for $67 but hotwire pays higher TopCashBack rate - thought it could have been Residence
  3. I wonder how this win could have been in "West" as Cosmopolitan Hotel is in East Hong Kong island (WanChai, Causeway bay)
  4. Greetings from the Clarion Hotel Monterey :( at checkin I was told that "priceline" booked me a accessible room with queen bed :o that's why she had to give me the room next the Munras Av. (noisy) - I refused and asked for a kingsize bed -> "$20 upgrade fee" - come on this would be 40% of what I paid and at their webpage the difference between queen-size and king size is only 10 bucks <_< After I told her to call her manager 'cause we wanted a quiet room tonight (after noisy sleepless night in Donatello San Francisco!!) she gave us another queenbed room... ok at least on 1st floor B) However they try to give priceline NYOP customers the worst rooms (location to street) and the lie to you that "priceline booked this room for you... at least internet is free AND fast (not as in many upper class hotels in Europe where it's free but slow like modem)
  5. haha, this is correct but this seems to be the trick at PL: they downgrade hotels to make their marketing messages true... in tripadvisor, Expedia, hotels.com this property is 3,5* at priceline's sister website booking.com it's 3*
  6. agree but priceline makes you believe that the price e.g. at express deals is very low "compared to "similar" hotels - Marketing only as recognized - however it's up to me to find out that this "reference price" isnot at all realistic as there was only 2 hotels above $100 and 10 around $50 in the 2,5* level. I doubt that there is anything true in the message "similar hotel" rate displayed is the median of the lowest rates available on priceline.com's published price service for hotels in this area and star level for the same travel dates based on the most recent customer searches in the last 21 days." I wonder how they can prove this???
  7. sure but is it worth to "investigate" so much for 1 night only?
  8. PRICELINE (or agency) has employed good texters! We all know that the messages above are irrelevant for your sucess - I've seen these messages several times e.g.for Frankfurt Germany when trying to bid $40 for a 4* hotel... however I won with my low bid the Moevenpick Hotel as expected :P
  9. not sure if I'm right but I somehow had the feeling that some express deals disapear after you've tried some bids - at least technically it's possible to control traffice at NYOP and then limit the express selection. What I noticed so far: PRICELINE EXPRESS is adding same "PL-fees" to final payment as the NYOP section!
  10. Referring to my last priceline win forum I'd say it's better to use non-opaque hotel website and their saving voucher (e.g. orbitz 15%) instead of the low savings at PRICELINE EXPRESS deals or NYOP with all the unclear extra fees (resort fee, pet fee, extra bed fee etc.)
  11. New "express deal" option is showing a reference price for "similar" hotels in this star level category! Good Marketing folks!! There is nothing really deep in your savings but the fees priceline charges... esp. in 2,5* level there are huge differences in price, age, branding and comfort. referring to my NYOP win I'm sure the parallel sold "express deal" for $49 would have been same hotel!! So let me clarify the "deep" savings on pricline NYOP: my bid: Room Cost $45.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $13.29 (USD) Total Charged to Card: $58.29 (USD) Pricline "normal" rate: $59.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $7,92 (USD) Total Charged to Card: $66.92 (USD) the latter rate is fully flexibel, I'd need to pay $8,63 = 13% more to be 100% flexibel! My "savings" which should somehow compensate the non-cancelable rate are $8,63 which is 14,8% - not as PL wants to make me belive 23% (based on rate before their taxes & fees) Even more as I'm member of AAA my rate would be on Choicehotels $53.10 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $6,31 (USD) Total Charged to Card: $59,41 (USD) so $1,12 are my actual "savings" PL Price guarantee doesn't work as AAA-Rates are not respected and there is still $1,12 saving - WOW Thank you priceline for the bull
  12. started with 2,5* at Monterey with $40 - got a counter offer but declined - added Pacific Grove with $45 and won this hotel savings compared to AAA-Rate = 1 USD - and non-cancelable bloody hell, this is frustrating Again a example where priceline is only generating business with any value add for the customer
  13. amenities: see above (shown BEFORE you buy on page after your press "choose"!!) shown on the express list: Restaurant Business Center Fitness Bedchoice Actually the "bedchoice" went "obsolete" on the booking page (selection not possible anymore)- seems that PRICELINE IT still has some things to do on this new option?
  14. Orgininal PRICELINE EXPRESS Rate was $106 with today's 10% voucher "8J8L3VZB" I got it for $95,4 It was easy to find out which hotel it is as they showed before the purchase was made: Studio 400sq.ft King Bed Compact Fridge Microwave Sofa Sleeper Wet Bar Free Wifi :D guest favourite and 9 in reviews.... Admin: please correct the rate, your defaults don't allow a comma figure?!?1
  15. got it with first bid should have started with 40?? I expected the real Marriott (beds should be different??) - however I think this is a quite good deal - official rate at Marriott $99++
  16. Express DEAL win!!!!! This is a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal win with the 10% voucher code PLAYOFFS the above rate before discount.... Amenities shown: - Pool, - Business center, - Restaurant, - Fitness minimum guest rating "7 or higher" There is a similar price level 3* with "guest rating 9" which is almost sure the Novotel but I don't like the French Novotel hotels - Marriott has better beds!
  17. Expected this hotel and was trying to underbid at Priceline NYOP (stopped at $110 as I had $15 hotwire Hotdollar to use at hotwire) Amenities Free Breakfast Free Internet Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower TA reviews 4of5, more than 100 reviews - 95% hotwire customer recommendations :) Let's see if we are early enough for the evening recepection (plane lands at JFK around 8pm from LAX)
  18. Nothing to do with Oktoberfest but the Electronica fair from 11/12 to 11/16/12
  19. OK FYI: there is THE furniture fair during that time and hotel prices in Milan are exorbitant those days, 4* in center could be easily 800€ and more/night. After my wrtitten complaint to HW, they fixed the error - now there are now hotels anymore available for the very low rate Thanks anyway!!
  20. Thanks just tried again till the end and the $65 Milan, Italy 4* Hotel with breakfast disappeared again at the very end of the process
  21. I'm trying to book a 4* Hotel in Milan/Italy from 04/12/13 to 04/14/13 - there is a 4* hotel shown for Cinisello Balsamo - Sesto San Giovanni area hotel. I can proceed the whole booking process up till the end, my creditcard is accessed to be charged (SMS/emails about that) but the booking doesn't go through...the site jumps back to main page and says "hotel go quickly"... bla bla... Guys, this has happend 5 times no, creditcard accessed to charge but finally not gone through Has anybody seen similar recently at hotwire? I mean I can understand that the hotel isn't available but 1. hotwire access my creditcard! 2. booking process works almost till end, availability could be checked before! Any idea what to do here? Call them?
  22. Great Deal this will be the 3rd time we'll stay at this place. I found a 3* offer for our dates at HW for $65 (see my Hw-forum contribution) which was likely to be Hyatt House. as usual the PL NYOP rates tend to be ca. $10 lower than HW. so tried with $49 a 2,5* at Sorrento Mesa - rejected. As "rebid" zone I choose "La Jolla" and used $55 as it was unlikely to get a 2,5* (and up) hotel for that rate in La Jolla area. Should I have used $50 first? However I won the Hyatt House Sorrento Mesa for $55 :D you saved 75% :D - hey hey - as we know the double rooms in this Hyatt House are a bit oldfashioned and only single queen bed. However the hotel is nice, breakfast was outstanding (cook made to order BF), free Wifi and parking are another plus (and that we know the area which is Qualcomm offices but quiet and save at night!
