  1. It's showing over 1900 registered members but the newest member is number 2335. Why the difference?
  2. W Atlanta W Seattle W New York W Sydney W Hoboken?
  3. I've been playing around with bidding Cancun for a possible trip next week and noticed that yesterday PL added a new 4 star quality level. Never had this come up during bidding. It's traditionally been one big zone with Resort , 3 and 2 star and I think the old thinking is that you had to bid Resort to be pretty assured of being on the beach. Anyone have any feel for what the 4 star might be and whether or not it's likely to be on the beach? No 4 star (or the level) has ever been reported anywhere online. Knowing me, I'll bid it just to see what we get.
  4. Welcome to BetterBidding! You're correct that a lot of hotels have almost "fixed" accepted Priceline prices over short periods of time as can be seen posted here. Special events or circumstances can change day-to-day of course. Thanks for posting your win.
  5. Pretty interesting to see this hotel show up on Hotwire. As near as I can tell, it's never been won using PL.
  6. I think posts like this help build BB into a community. Any thought of creating just a general category where most anything could be posted (similar to OMNI on Flyertalk). I have a feeling such a category would be the most heavily visited here. Making it only accessible to members might boost membership. Just a thought.
  7. Priceline rated the Fairfield Inn in Jackson, TN as a 1* (posted in PL-TN here). I'd be very surprised if either Hotwire or PL had shared bathroom situations in their inventory.
  8. I haven't had coffee yet today so I may be missing/forgetting something obvious but why is the Offer listed at $49 and the Subtotal at $52? And where did the $116.39 come from? It shows 1 room, 1 night.
  9. Tried $32 and $35 and rejected with no counter. Jumped $5 to $40 and accepted. 10. Hi and welcome to BetterBidding. You can start over without waiting.
  11. Started at $28, got a $9 counter at $33, tried $35 and then accepted at $37. Used the Barn. Congratulations, you got your price of $37 for a 2-star hotel room. 12. The first anniversary is about 10 weeks out - are we all invited to Hoboken for the party? Wonder if there'll be 2000 members by then.
  13. First bid of $50 + bonus rejected. Added Liberty zone and $55 + bonus accepted. Best web rate is $128 for this night during the holidays. Many thanks to 'ilander' for emailing me about the bonus money. Congratulations, you got your price of $55 for a 3-star hotel room. Sheraton Suites Kansas City Country Club Plaza 770 West 47th Street Kansas City, Missouri 64112 816-931-4400 Check-In Date: Sun, Nov 30, 2003 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Mon, Dec 1, 2003 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $55.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $55.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $14.21 Total Charges: $69.21
  14. Looks like Hotwire has a 2.5* in Midtown Central for $148 and Expedia has a 3* in Lower Manhattan for $149 (2 of the 3 nights). Seems like PL might undercut those some. :) (didn't have my calendar out on that first post)
  15. All those marching bands (and moms and dads) need a place to stay. My guess is that most folks are in for all three days so splitting won't help. Starting over at a much lower rate with the Lower Manhattan zone is one alternative.
  16. I got that email when I was at the PHL Wyndham in August (the email came after I had been there a day). At checkin, the desk clerk made a point of saying that no By Request benefits would be applied and then there was a series of hesitations and I had this thought that maybe that one poster who's always talking about the $20 bribes had been there recently. I had the distinct feeling the clerk was waiting for me to do something (which I didn't) and I got assigned a clearly inferior room but complained and got moved to a regular room. Initially sticking me in a room that was unclean and in disrepair (missing chairs and trash can and shower liner, furniture and carpet heavily worn, etc. etc.) presumably because I PLed undid the goodwill created at the STL Wyndham. I did get free local calls and high-speed Internet. Since Internet access is through Wayport and you put in your WBR number, I don't think they have a process to discern who's PL. I didn't push my luck and try a long distance number. No welcome stuff of course and they did make a point of skipping my room for paper delivery which just meant I had to zip down to the lobby each morning and get a free WSJ and USA Today from the front desk. Almost seems like it's more trouble for them to make sure I don't get a paper.
  17. Tried 3* for $31 based on earlier posted bids and rejected. Lots of free rebids so tried $32 and then hit at $33. Looks like a decent place - pool and sauna, shuttles to airport and mall. Best online rate is $66. Used the Barn. Congratulations, you got your price of $33 for a 3-star hotel room. Holiday Inn Select Opryland Airport Nashville Airport (BNA) 2200 Elm Hill Pike Nashville, Tennessee 37214 615-883-9770 Check-In Date: Sat, Nov 8, 2003 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, Nov 9, 2003 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $33.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $33.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $10.93 Total Charges: $43.93
  18. Hello and welcome to BetterBidding! Thanks for posting your great win. Being in London's a great way to start 2004 - have a great trip.
  19. Hi and welcome to BetterBidding! Thank you for your nice comments and for posting your winning bids.
  20. This was a first bid. Seems like this hotel/area always requires a bid of in the 70s so I started with a total bid of $77. Hotel's best web rate is 165 Euros (~$190) per night. I'm very pleased with winning this hotel. Amsterdam Marriott Hotel City Centre And Museum Quarter Stadhoudmrskade 12 Amsterdam, The Netherlands 31 20 6075555 Check-In Date: Sat, Oct 11, 2003 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Tue, Oct 14, 2003 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $67.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $201.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $22.95 Total Charges: $223.95
  21. Welcome to BetterBidding! Thanks for posting your great deals.
  22. Nice to have you here at BetterBidding but making up a phony credit card number is fraud. If you read a few of the members' posts here, you'll see it's not that difficult to get a great Priceline price honestly. Feel free to ask for help.
  23. Welcome to BetterBidding! Just out of curiosity, did you try Priceline too? Depending on availability, this hotel has shown up for less using Priceline.
  24. Welcome to BetterBidding! Congratulations on your great deal. Was that a first bid?
  25. Welcome to BetterBidding! Congratulations on your great deal. That's about a 3 hour drive to BNA. A great restaurant near your hotel is Jim's Place East ( http://www.jimsplaceeast.com ).
