1. I saw what I thought was this hotel show up on PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals for $52. I double-checked PL to make sure that I would be happy with any 3* in the area and decided to bid. I started at $45 since I had a number of free rebids. I should have started lower since my first bid was accepted LOL. I've stayed here before, it's a nice hotel with friendly staff. It doesn't have breakfast but that's OK. Used the Better Bidding PRICELINE link to book.
2. My husband is still in Tampa. He asked me to be his "Priceline Tribble" again. I saw this hotel on Express Deals for $47. That's $2 less than it was last week when I won the hotel for $43 so I started bidding at $41. I was rejected. I added Oldsmar since I was fine with an upgrade to a 2.5* there and rebid $43. It was successful at that price again. Purchase date: May 10, 2015 Deal type: Name Your Own Price Offer price: $43.00 /night Number of rooms: 1 room Number of nights: 3 nights Room subtotal: $129.00 Taxes & fees: $24.69 Total charged today: $153.69 Total charged: $153.69 Used the BB PRICELINE link. ETA: My husband said that he liked this Extended Stay, but the one he stayed at in Clearwater wasn't as nice. He probably would not stay in the Clearwater one again if he had a choice but was fine staying in this one again.
3. I looked on PRICELINE EXPRESS and figured out this was the hotel for $49 ($117 with taxes). My $43 bid was accepted right away. Best Available rate is $95, PL shows $99. ES's website says that all the rooms are recently refurbished and non-smoking. Deal type: Name Your Own Price Offer price: $43.00 /night Number of rooms: 1 room Number of nights: 2 nights Room subtotal: $86.00 Taxes & fees: $17.60 Total charged today: $103.60 Total charged: $103.60 Paid in full Savings: You saved 57%*
4. The address is 3089 Executive Drive, Clearwater , FL. Additional Information: Deal type: Express Deal Room price: $41.00 /night Number of rooms: 1 room Number of nights: 1 night Room subtotal: $41.00 Taxes & fees: $9.80 Total charged today: $50.80 I used BB Priceline link.
5. This is exactly the hotel I expected. I thought about using the NYOP tool, but the 2* Quality Inn scared me and I didn't want it. I knew this hotel was not the Quality Inn because the QI's rating is 5.5. I was also able to specify a non-smoking room. I can't believe that Florida still allows smoking in their hotel rooms! 2* Amenities: Pets Allowed Free Parking Free Internet Free Breakfast rated 7+/10 I used the BB PRICELINE link.
6. My husband booked a last minute trip to the Tampa area and needed a hotel. I saw this hotel on Priceline Express Deals and tried to fish for it on the Name Your Own Price tool. I bid $55 in the Tampa Airport North area, was counter-offered at $71, ignored it and rebid at $60 and was denied. Only 1 free rebid as of this writing in the area for a 2.5* so I was done. I considered bidding in the Tampa Westshore area and I thought that the hotel in that area (a 3.5* for $67) was going to be the Doubletree but my husband preferred a place with a breakfast so I went with the PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal. Best Available Rate: $89 Amenities Free Breakfast Free Internet Free Parking Swimming Pool Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Business Center Guest Rating 7+
7. My very first Oldsmar win! My in-laws live nearby and we always end up over near the airport because Oldsmar never comes up. I saw a hotel available on PRICELINE EXPRESS Bids in Oldsmar for $56 which I thought was the Holiday Inn. I bid $46 a couple days ago and was denied then added a free rebid area and bid $50 and was denied again. I tried $51 today and hit on the Holiday Inn. Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $51.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $102.00 Taxes & Fees: $21.06 Total Charged to Card: $123.06
8. I just wanted to follow up on this reservation. Something happened and the swim team's entries never made it into the swim meet so I found out that the team was not going to the meet on the Sunday before the reservation. I called the hotel and Priceline and they arranged for me to reschedule my reservation for later in June for an additional $20 payment to the hotel. I was OK with the additional charge if it meant that I wasn't going to lose everything and $60 for this hotel is still a good deal.
9. Sorry this is a day late, but I thought I would add it for a price point. I made this reservation the day of check-in. I was sure that this hotel was showing up on Priceline's Express Deals for $47 so I thought I would try for it at a lower price and fall back on the Express Deals rate if I failed. I made one bid of $40 and it was accepted. Best available price was $84. I received a "Priceline" room near the elevator and ice machine. Even so, it was mostly quiet except in the morning when people were going down to breakfast. It had a comfortable king bed with a pull out couch. The staff was super friendly. My daughter forgot a razor and they supplied one for free. The free breakfast was also great! I liked that it wasn't just a continental carb-o-licious breakfast and that it included eggs and sausage. The only small negative is that the hotel doesn't have a pool, but we didn't have time to use one on this trip anyway. I have now stayed in two hotels in this general area in the last 3 months. I was at a nearby 2* Extended Stay for $34 (+$15 extra for a double-double so my DD could have a bed) back in March. The Courtyard blows the ES away in every category. Holiday Inn Express Downers Grove 3031 Finley Rd, Downers Grove, IL 60515 | 630-810-9500 Check-In: Sat, Jun 8, 2013 / After 02:00 PM Check-Out: Sun, Jun 9, 2013 / 12:00 PM Rooms: 1 room avg. per room, per night $40.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.25 Total Charged to Card: $52.25 Prices are in US dollars.
10. I booked this through the regular Name Your Own Price tool. I looked at the Express Deals and saw what I thought was this hotel for $50 ($61 with taxs & fees minus the current 5% off promo)so that was my maximum. I bid $35 and was denied. I added the Miller Park Area and rebid at $40. Best available rate is $139. I've stayed at this hotel before. It's nice, but it has the tiniest pool in the world! Courtyard By Marriott Milwaukee North Brown Deer 5200 West Brown Deer Road, Milwaukee, WI 53223 Check-In: Sat, Jun 1, 2013 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out: Sun, Jun 2, 2013 / 12:00 PM Rooms: 1 room Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $40.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.10 Total Charged to Card: $53.10
11. I saw that someone else got this hotel recently through the Express Deals so I went to Express Deals and found what I think was the Hyatt Place for $55. That was my upper limit (minus 5% "spring" coupon). I then found the bonus money link for $10 off per night here at Better Bidding. I generated the bonus money and came back to Better Bidding to start my bid with the PRICELINE link. I bid $35+$10 for s 3* in the "Tampa Airport Westshore" area but was rejected. I added "Tampa South" area for a free rebid and increased my bid to $38+$10. Last time I bid in this area I was upgraded to a 3.5*, but not this time! Breakfast, a pool and a mini-suite with a fold out couch for my daughter. Life is good. Best available rate was $135. Summary of Charges Bonus Cash: Per Room, Per Night $10.00 Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $38.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 3 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $114.00 Taxes & Fees: $26.94 Total Charged to Card: $140.94
12. I'm sorry I am posting this late, but I thought you still might want a price point and my comments. I couldn't find a dog sitter for my overnight stay in Lombard, so I ended up using Priceline's Express Deals on the day of my arrival. I selected a hotel with the little paw print that meant the pets were allowed. I was pretty sure that it was going to be either one of the Extended Stay Americas and both of them got fairly good reviews so I was happy with either one. I paid $34 less the 5% "spring" discount and the best available rate was $59. When my husband arrived at the hotel he was told that we were assigned a room with a single queen sized bed. Our daughter was also staying with us so he asked for a room with 2 beds. They charged us an additional $15 for the second bed. I am well aware that Priceline guarantees bedding for only 2 people and that the hotel was within their rights to charge us an additional amount for an extra person/bed. However, I have booked over 100 rooms on Priceline and I have never been asked to pay extra for two beds. Never. We are sometimes assigned a room with a single bed, but we are always either moved without a problem or given a rollaway for free. BE AWARE that if you bid for a 2* in this area and you need 2 beds the Extended Stay America will jack you up for an additional $15. It really left a bad impression of the brand for me and I will not choose an Extended Stay America hotel by choice because of it. The hotel had recently been renovated and looked nice with a new coat of paint. But, that was more like liptsick on a pig. The beds were rock hard and uncomfortable, there was no shampoo in the bathroom & the breakfast was the lamest I have ever seen. It was granola bars, apples, instant oatmeal and coffee. The fact that I had to pay $49 for this crappy hotel v/s the $34 I expected added insult to injury. Oh ... and I think if they had actually seen the dog they would have charged us another $25 fee. Here is the booking information. Guaranteed Amenities: Free Breakfast Free Internet Free Parking Pets Allowed Extended Stay America - Chicago - Lombard - Oakbrook Summary of Charges Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $34.00 (USD) choose your card Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Guests Per Room: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $34.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $10.99 (USD) Priceline Hotel Coupon: -$1.70 (USD) Total Charged to Card: $43.29 (USD) (All prices are in US dollars)
13. I made the second reservation in our double swim meet (double La Quinta) weekend. My husband is meeting us in Oshkosh and it's really important that my daughter be comfortable overnight for a good meet in the morning, so I used Priceline's "Express Deals" opaque product instead of the "Name Your Own Price". I didn't want to risk getting only one bed and the Express Deals offer allowed me to choose two double beds for this property. The best available rate for this hotel is $69 and I know I could have gotten the room for less than $46 through the regular "Name Your Own Price" option like I did for my Kenosha reservation. I compared the amenities and star rating and was pretty certain that this was going to be the La Quinta. ETA: I used the link at the top of the page :). La Quinta Inn Oshkosh Check-In: Sat, Feb 9, 2013 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out: Sun, Feb 10, 2013 / 12:00 PM Rooms: 1 room Price: avg. per room, per night $46.00 Rooms: 1 Bed Type: Two Double Pillowtop Beds Nonsmoking 32 Inch Hdtv Free Wifi Free Breakfast Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $46.00 Taxes & Fees: $14.34 Total Charged to Card: $60.34
14. Best available rate was $61.75 (AAA), PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals was $48 (at least I *think* it was the La Quinta!). I bid $42 and was accepted right away. I probably could have gone lower, but this hotel doesn't come up often so I was happy with a $6 savings over my back-up only 2 days before arrival. I bid using the Better Bidding PRICELINE link. La Quinta Inn Pleasant Prairie/Kenosha Check-In: Fri, Feb 8, 2013 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out: Sat, Feb 9, 2013 / 12:00 PM Rooms: 1 room avg. per room, per night $42.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $42.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.16 Total Charged to Card: $55.16
15. Crappy weekend to come in for the Cubs and my mother's birthday. I wanted something downtown but a big convention is sucking up every available room. I didn't want to be too far from my family, so I avoided the ORD/western 'burbs areas. So, I bid in Bridgeview knowing that I would get the Days Inn. I had won this hotel before. It is very plain, but clean with a friendly staff. It's not the Ritz, but it was cheap and it's only for one night. I started bidding at my last winning bid of $30. I was counter-offered with $39. I knew that Hotwire had it at $42, so I added Countryside (NOT a free rebid, but I would have been OK with the hotels in the area) and upped my bid to $35 which was accepted. I used the BB PRICELINE link. Best available rate was $71. Days Inn Bridgeview 9625 S. 76Th Avenue, Bridgeview, IL 60455 | 708-430-1818 Check-In: Sat, May 5, 2012 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out: Sun, May 6, 2012 / 12:00 PM Rooms: 1 room Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $35.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $35.00 Taxes & Fees: $9.94 Total Charged to Card: $44.94
16. Coming into Chicago for a weekend of Cubs games and time with my family. Won on my first bid or $45. Best available rate is $132 (AAA) per night. Courtyard By Marriott Midway Airport 6610 S Cicero Avenue, Bedford Park, IL 60638 | 708-563-0200 Check-In: Fri, Apr 6, 2012 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out: Sun, Apr 8, 2012 / 12:00 PM Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $45.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $90.00 Taxes & Fees: $22.22 Total Charged to Card: $112.22
17. I started at $30 per night which was a previous winning bid for me at this hotel but I was rejected. I rebid at $31 was rejected and then won at $32. Best available rate is $99. This is a perfectly nice hotel and fairly close to the airport. We will still have a car overnight so we don't care about the shuttle. I recall that the breakfast was adequate, but I don't think we'll have time to enjoy it because of an early flight. I used the Better Bidding PRICELINE link. Country Inn And Suites By Carlson Orlando Airport 5440 Forbes Place, Orlando, FL 32812 | 407-856-8896 Check-In: Sun, Apr 8, 2012 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out: Mon, Apr 9, 2012 / 12:00 PM Rooms: 1 room Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $32.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $32.00 Taxes & Fees: $11.35 Total Charged to Card: $43.35
18. It's definitely a good value! My back-up was a room at the Holiday Inn Pleasant Prairie for $103. I'm very happy to drive 35 minutes out of my way (25 past the Holiday Inn into Illinois and then 10 extra to the pool in the morning) to save $56 with taxes and fees. Plus, I probably wouldn't be able to eat at the HI either.
19. We're going to a swim meet in Kenosha, WI and I failed at 2 Priceline bids in the Kenosha area (2.5* $45 & $50) so I tried Hotwire in Gurnee, IL. Got the Hawthorn Suites which is about 20 minutes from the pool. Too bad we'll probably be out of the hotel before breakfast is served. Darn those early morning warm ups! I used the Better Bidding HOTWIRE link to bid. Best available rate: $85. Amenities: Suite Guest rooms at this hotel are always smoke-free. Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Rate per night: $49.00 Nights: 1 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $11.47 Subtotal: $60.47 Trip total: $60.47
20. I'm going to Waukesha for a swim meet and managed to snag our team hotel for almost half price! Best available (non-refundable) rate was $71.25. Best refundable rate was $95 and our team rate was $99. I usually prefer Priceline but I was very sure that the Hotwire hotel was the Country Inn & Suites so I went with the surer thing for a little more money. I used the Better Bidding HOTWIRE link :). Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Milwaukee West-Brookfield 1250 South Moorland Road, Brookfield, WI, 53005 262-782-1400 Check-in Fri, Feb 24, 2012 Check-out Sun, Feb 26, 2012 Amenities Smoke Free Rooms Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Children's Activity Program Summary of charges Hotel Rate per night: $46.00 Nights: 2 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $18.60 Subtotal: $110.60 Trip total: $110.60
21. Darn! I was "upgraded". Was hoping for the Grand Hyatt for these dates and tried in the Airport West zone for a 4* all the way to $55. I stopped because I didn't want the Westin and have to pay for parking. I changed to the Westshore zone and bid $45 for a 3* hoping for the Hyatt Place and was "upgraded" to the Doubletree. *sigh* I knew it was a possibility but I ended up overpaying for this hotel since it usually comes in at $40. Doubletree Hotel Tampa Westshore Airport 4500 West Cypress Street, Tampa, FL 33607 | 813-879-4800 Check-In: Sat, Dec 24, 2011 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out: Wed, Dec 28, 2011 / 12:00 PM Rooms: 1 room Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $45.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 4 Room Subtotal: $180.00 Taxes & Fees: $31.92 Total Charged to Card: $211.92
22. Hi there! I am looking for a hotel near the Tampa airport. I saw a 2.5* that I thought might have been the La Quinta bumped back up from a 2* but then I found one that is probably the La Quinta. Any idea what this 2.5* hotel might be? 2.5* Westshore - Tampa Intl Airport TPA area hotel $44 Amenities: Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access Recommended: In 90% of Hotwire customer reviews. I was thinking that maybe the La Quinta was bumped back up to a 2.% star, but there is also this hotel: 2.5* Westshore - Tampa Intl Airport TPA area hotel $45 Airport Shuttle, Complimentary Breakfast, Pool(s) High-Speed Internet Recommended: In 90% of Hotwire customer reviews.
23. We have a fairly early flight out of MCO on the 23rd so we needed a cheap hotel at MCO. Started at the common price point of $30 because I didn't have time to rebid. Got exactly what I wanted on my first try. Used the Better Bidding link to bid! Country Inn And Suites By Carlson Orlando Airport 5440 Forbes Place, Orlando, FL 32812 | 407-856-8896 Check-In: Mon, Aug 22, 2011 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out: Tue, Aug 23, 2011 / 12:00 PM Rooms: 1 room Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $30.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $30.00 Taxes & Fees: $11.05 Total Charged to Card: $41.05
24. My first bid was accepted. I'll try lower next time since there is currently a free rebid available. It seems to have good reviews on Tripadvisor and it includes breakfast. Best available price was $66. Days Inn Bridgeview 2 Star 9625 S. 76th Avenue Bridgeview, Illinois 60455 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $30.00 Subtotal: $30.00 Taxes & Fees: $8.21 Total Charges*: $38.21
25. I tried to bid repeatedly in the Oakbrook and the Burr Ridge areas with no luck. I really didn't want to pay a lot, so I branched out into the Naperville area. I was hoping for the Lisle Hyatt, but got all the way up to $45 without any luck. I dropped down to 2.5 and started to bid up and finally hit at $42. I really like the new Courtyards. The lobbies are very nice and the rooms are comfortable.
