  1. Noticed another winning bid for this, my new favourite hotel in Cleveland, for the ridiculously low rate of $35, and thought -- why not try it myself. First tried for both Saturday and Sunday with no luck, then realized the Browns have a home game that weekend, which of course means low availability and high prices for the Saturday night.. When I tried the Sunday night alone, I got lucky (so to speak)! I may try to use the Priceline "Extend Your Stay" feature, but I'm sure with the football game it won't work. I will amend this post if I do and it does. Started as always with the BetterBidding Priceline link!!
  2. Been trying to get this for weeks now. It is for the Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend so there have been NO good rates anywhere -- HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or direct with the rental companies. Finally got a great deal today!! Clicked on the PRICELINE LOGO at the top of the BetterBidding.com site (without any hotel details), then went to the car rental section. Pick-Up Location: Avis Rent a Car Your Offer Price: $23.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 5 days(4 days and 10 hours) Subtotal: $115.00 Taxes and Fees: $60.86 Total Charges: $175.86 Lowest Published Price: $390.26 Total Savings:* $214.40 (You saved 55%)
  3. Hotel was great. No second-class treatment just because we were Priceline customers! Showed my Hyatt Gold Passport card and got both rooms upgraded to the super-gigantic Grand Arcade rooms on the second floor!! (May be hard to go back to my old favourite in Cleveland -- the Crowne Plaza :) )
  4. Going down to the Bob Dylan/Willie Nelson/John Mellencamp triple bill! Thought about staying out in the sticks near the concert, but saw all the amazingly cheap wins for this beautiful hotel lately, so thought I'd give it a go and won on the first bid. Now thinking I should have started a bit lower :) . Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link of course!!
  5. Decided to go a day early. Price went up $2 from my previous hotwire booking for 06/15 - 06/16, but at least I got the same hotel!! Amenities Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Used the BetterBidding HOTWIRE link as always! Thanks!!
  6. Although Hotwire puts the Delta Chelsea in the East, it could actually be thought of as being in the West, as it is (just) west of Yonge Street. It is also just north of the Eaton Centre and is great if you want to be "in the action".
  7. Off to see Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood (Blind Faith) and couldn't pass up a Crowne Plaza at $39!!, even if it's not right downtown. It's right on the highway home though!! Indoor AND outdoor pools to boot!! Amenities Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Used the BetterBidding Hotwire link as always! Thanks!!
  8. If you want to save a bit of money, I would try a 3.5* star on PRICELINE starting at $65. You would probably get the Hyatt, as it is showing up a lot recently. The other possibilities for 3.5* are the Embassy Suites (your first choice) or the Marriott, with the outside chance that PRICELINE has added something new to the mix. Savings on 3 days would be over $100!!
  9. Just extended my stay and added Friday night at the same price ... very convenient option that PRICELINE offers! :)
  10. Back to Montreal ... was fairly certain this would be the Hyatt again, and I was correct, thanks to BetterBidding!! Got it on my first bid! As always, used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link!
  11. Price seems a wee bit high -- I think that's because I needed two rooms for two nights. Still much better than the Sheraton website!! My German friends will be pleased! And thanks to BetterBidding, I was 99% sure of what I was booking -- thanks as always! Amenities: Smoke free, fitness, pool, restaurant, business centre, internet. Tripadvisor rating of 4.0/5.0 with 540+ reviews Used the BetterBidding HOTWIRE link of course!!
  12. Started with 3.5* Downtown at $48 --> rejected Added Longueuil (no 3.5*) at $52 --> rejected Added Laval (no 3.5*) at $55 --> ACCEPTED! Still not sure why this Hyatt is only 3.5*, as I think it's as good as Le Centre Sheraton, but it's the hotel/location I wanted this time, which is why I didn"t start with my usual 4* request, and it worked out, thanks to a bit of research on BetterBidding, of course! (Best rate I could find on the Hyatt site was $169 CND!) Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link above, as always!!
  13. Going to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, and this hotel is PERFECT -- right next door to the Cleveland Public Hall where the ceremony is taking place. Also within walking distance of the R & R Hall itself. I've stayed at this Crowne Plaza several times, and the hotel is GREAT!! Amenities Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Used the Better Bidding HOTWIRE link, of course!!
  14. Booked this for my niece and her daughter (my God-daughter) for a quick end of March Break getaway. This is the hotel where they prefer to stay when in Toronto (for the indoor waterslide), and I knew by the amenities that this was most probably the Chelsea (children's activities program is a dead giveaway). They are both very happy!! AMENITIES Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Children's Activity Program Used the Better Bidding HOTWIRE link as usual! :)
  15. I stayed at the Hyatt this past Saturday, Feb. 21, on a Priceline win and had no problem checking in at 12:30 pm. Everything was GREAT by the way, and was treated no differently than any other guest, even though I paid only $62!! Highly recommended hotel.
  16. Being unsure of the 3.5* discussed in my other thread, opted to go with a 3* for a bit better rate, being fairly sure it was the Holiday Inn Express New York City Madison Square Garden, and I was correct. Excellent location, as we are attending the Van Morrison concerts at MSG!! And free breakfast to boot!! Amenities: Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Business Center High-speed Internet Access As always, used the better bidding HOTWIRE link above!!
  17. Opted for a different hotel which I will report in a new thread
  18. I'm guessing this is the brand new Wyndham Garden Hotel Manhattan Chelsea West at 24th and Broadway (going by the smoke-free designation and lack of on-site restaurant). Any other guesses?? Thanks. This hotel features the following amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Business Center High-speed Internet Access
  19. My sister and brother-in-law have decided to drive home after the show rather than stay in Toronto, so no hotel booking this time around. They are taking me out to dinner before the show though -- free meal is always good!!!
  20. Started low ($50) just for fun, fully expecting to end up around $62, as this seems to be the going rate for the Hyatt these days, and was correct in my prediction. It took four attempts ($50, $55, $60 and $62), adding South Boston, Brighton/Brookline and Medford/Somerville as safe rebid zones without 4* choices. Got the Thursday night and extended it for one night. Then went back, with a $62 initial bid, and got two rooms for the Saturday night, as I will be joining my friends for that night only. This is the exact hotel we wanted, as it is basically connected to the Orpheum Theatre (no outside walking in case of a nor-easter that weekend!). As always, used the better bidding PRICELINE link!!
  21. I am offered a 3.5* in Toronto (North York-Vaughan) for $56 for February 7, 2009 -1 night. Amenities and Trip Advisor rating matches Novotel North York (which is what I want -- sister is going to see Jersey Boys right next door), but that hotel is currently listed in the Better Bidding list as 3*. Could it have possibly been upgraded to 3.5*? This map area is HUGE, so I don't want her to end up near Canada's Wonderland!! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Amentities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Traveler rating 4.0 out of 5 Based on 40+ customer reviews (Last reviewed October 2008)
  22. Used the better bidding HOTWIRE link as always, and got the Crowne Plaza LA Int'l Airport for $64. Booked for four people to ensure 2 beds (even though there are only 2 of us). Current AAA Rate on the hotel website is $79, so we saved a bit!! Amenities: Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access
  23. Just booked this for my niece to stay after the Madonna concert, and she's very happy!!! Booked for 2 adults and one child to ensure two beds (she's going with her BFF--girls weekend out with no kids allowed!!) Now if only the Canadian dollar wasn't sinking like a stone these days so the exchange to USD wasn't going to kill her!! This hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Spa Services And as always used the betterbidding HOTWIRE link!!
  24. :) Very Pleased -- the exact same hotel I had booked as my back-up, only $60 per room cheaper!! Used the Better Bidding HOTWIRE link, of course!! 2.5-star hotel in State College This hotel features the following amenities: Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access
  25. Bid $100 -- rejected Added Bayside area (safe rebid -- no 3*) Bid $110 -- accepted by THE HOLIDAY INN LA GUARDIA! (Sorry -- forgot that in the post title) Was hoping for the Crowne Plaza (closer to the airport) but this is fine!
