  1. I guess my follow-up question is, do you guys follow PE properties on here? I didn't see any link to them other than the 2012 thread saying "this is a new feature" I haven't hotwired or nyop in awhile...but I keep tabs to compare with the hotel offers I get...
  2. Hey Guys... I wasn't sure I was going next week...but I think I am. I have been weighing my airbnb, hotwire and pricelines options... I am pretty savvy at using this site here (love you guys) but haven't purchased from Priceline Express (just NYOP) which I don't think uses the Hotel Lists we have here... So right now I got an offer of a 4 star, $122 a nite, PE, Financial/Wall street with a rating of 7.0 out of 10... When I look at their regular inventory, nothing comes up as a 7.0, Amenties posted are fitness center and business center... My closest guess would be the Doubletree, as it is showing 186 (closest the 30% off I'm being quoted) What do you think? Not sure, yet but trying to gage this new system, help would be HELPFUL :)
  3. I've done it twice this year, on my last two trips at the Wynn and Mandalay bay...all I got was a better view (higher/strip)
  4. It is a great hotel but rememeber to budget the $25 daily resort fee into your budget...$75 Also...as a Vegas newbie plan on a tipping budget because that is something newbies forget about. For Valet, cocktail girls, etc. Vegas ia a great city in general but tipping matters. You want to see your waitress...tip her! I also suggest using the first name of whomever you are speaking to...they are given name badges and using them CAN and usually for me does get better treatment...I've been upgraded by just being polite....also try the $20 trick for a room upgrade and mention it is your first 21 b-day... If you decide to club/hotel hop late at night (or some busy days) and drive sometimes hotels won't let you valet unless you are a hotel guest but with some finesse, a smile, and a "we are dining here" you should get in. VALET, unless you REALLY want to waste your time navigating horrible huge parking maze complexes that are really for cheapskates or locals . Lastly, Make sure your guys dress to impress...bouncers can be hard on large groups of guys...They won't let you in unless you look sharp and even then be prepared to wait... you're so money!
  5. Don't forget the $25 dollar a day resort fee that added december 2010... that said...I think I am going to bid for your same dates to enjoy the weekend!
  6. just remember the 25 daily resort fee... Still this is a fave hotel of mine in Vegas...glad to see it on the priceline list. They just sent me a special for 109 certain nights which sorta basically is free resort fee...The 75 and 80 on this site that are popping up are deals...I will be bidding!
  7. Hey All... Well Priceline ruined the Del Mar area for bidding for me by adding that Rancho area 3* morgan run with the horrible reviews...Plus, 15 min from Del Mar and sharing an are? that 15 min is a world away! In LA 15 minutes is a HUGE area difference I was checking out Hotwire to see if I could get the double tree del mar...What do you think? I don't think it is the Hilton because it doesn't have the tennis/golf amenties. the marriott would be higher stars..Educated guesses appreciated! 3* Trip advisor 4/5 business center, pool, fitness, restaurant, Internet $76 night +taxes If it was a resort, it would do that new thing of mentioning the resort tax, right?
  8. The Doubletree...that said, when I tried to bid/visit this place in August I couldn't win, probably because of the races...Also,now that they have the new morgans "resort" in the field, I will probably stay in La Jolla or Mission Valley....:)
  9. This is my fave...I have tried to think about staying other places but I keep coming back...I noticed the Hilton had been getting some bid play and was a little nervous..Unlike the 3.5 across the street (Marriott) this property has free parking! This time I finally tried room service...really great quality salad This visit 3/11-3/13 $52+ taxes= 121 (2 nights) Last visit here was 11/12-11/14 of 2009 ($50 +taxes= 121) How was it the same price if different bid? Hmmm
  10. Hi Everyone...catching up on my wins. bid $52 + taxes= $67 I was so stressed on where I was going to stay for this brief business trip. A hotel without a super shuttle is going to cost you $24 roundtrip or a taxi is going to be $50 roundtrip. This was my first trip to SAC in 17 years so I was not oriented with this city and its hotel local make up. Originally I was going to stay at a choice hotel since they have a promo of 2 seperate stays gets you a free night but none of the ones with decent reviews withn my budget could give me early check in..which I needed to refresh before my meeting. So I was pretty sure from our bbidding list I was going to try for *3 downtown which I was certain was going to be the Holiday Express...well I was wrong..let's update our list! I purchased the hotel at 2am on the 18th..called the hotel for info on how to best get to them! FREE SHUTTLE and FREE WIRELESS...loved it. right off the bat I felt happier...I had a lot of thigs go wrong on my trip (someone took my luggage...which found out after a 3 hour wait...no clothes for my very official meeting/bad check in at LAX) but I can truly say that this Hotel but it was a shining helpful moment. Evelyn who does not usually work the front desk was so polite when I had to reschedule the shuttle...and even upgraded me to a king mini suite/looked up an addeess online for me to buy clothes with a taxi she called for me...Michael the properties shuttle/matinence guy was also really nice/helpful Notables: The property is doing renovations on the second floor but the odds are if in SAC you are doing business during te day. McDonalds next to property. Lobby and Rooms are strong/upgraded so don't let the bad old hallway carpet dissuade you. The bed was great. PPV movies. My only dissapointment was the small shower only..no tub. Major note for Area travelers!: This is not truly a downtown property...from Capital Ave..it was a $14 cab ride to this hotel. Also unlike many cities though close to the airport there really are not airport hotels (like LA) nor are you super fare from the airport (like SF)..Give yourself 10-15 from this property and you are there but not near any airport sounds! TIP: Dave's Taxi Service 916-879-6000 I used three of their drivers...all were very courteous/prompt...even actually had Dave drive me first
  11. Sounds a little tacky to me I would never call a hotel and ask them for an old Priceline or Hotwire rate...That you had that expectation seems like you are a little too spoiled by the system. The guy probably only gave you the rate because he didn't want any of the complaining trouble you would of made had he been firmer in his no. Cheers, O
  12. I don't knwo if this Crown Plaza is the Fullerton one or Garden Grove one If Garden Grove FYI...prosititute found beaten dead on 8/21 last friday at the Garden Grove property
  13. Never figured out the First Hotwire Mission Valley... The Hotel I received in Shelter Island listing was the Holiday Inn at the Bay
  14. Hey Everyone... Since the BART's potential strke was this Monday I thought I might delay my trip... Ended up booking on Monday afternoon..tried PRICELINE $80 Embarcadero bid rejected added USW (took bid down to $65 to aim for Hilton) bid rejected.. Not wanting to deal with PRICELINE I went hunting Went to Parc 55 site and found a non-refundable special $102 king non-view that with taxes was 123 a night. I parked at BART station and drove into city via BART When I checked in at 12pm I asked if they had a view upgrade (for free). they did and just asking took me from 12 floor to 23 floor. Being pleasant with a smile helps... I have stayed here before...Hilton and Hotel Nikko are one block west and south which takes you more into Tenderloin. This hotel is super close to BART, one block from Cable Car/Union Square. Comfy Bed, Big Bathrooms...stayed here Jan 08 and it is a little gem. 1000 room hotel that does not feel it. They did do a new remodel which makes it a tad more polished. Great for a single person (or female) on their own. Union Sqaure has lots of homeless but so do other parts of the city. After seeing the location of the Hilton and Nikko both HUGE hotels that feel it..I was VERY happy I spent the extra 20 for the Parc 55 Cheers, O
  15. Just got back up from SF (drove from LA) Stayed at Parc 55 ($102 + taxes= $123 a night non-refundable special) Drove into Dublin/Plesanton parked at BART with airport permit (purchase/print out before drive) Permit for Tues/Wed/thurs= $15 BART trip into city (roundtrip to Powell- 40 min ride)= 10.55 Saved some GAS and some parking money! Cheers, O
  16. 8/17/09 I wanted to amend my statement aboiut the Internet....As of today when I called Parc 55 they told me that the Internet place around the corner is closed for the next 6 months....I am going into the city tommorrow and am looking for a place ( Embarcadero $80 was rejected :)...)
  17. I stayed at this hotel Jan 08'...Overall it was great with friendly atff and super easy access to Union/Powell. I was a girl alone and I felt very safe at night if yoiu walk toward Uniuon ( the opposite direction runs into Tenderloin so avoid). Thye even upgraded me to a room with a view! It did not feel like a 1000 room hotel which is nice The one problem I had was the lack of Internet....they say they have it but they also mentioned it being super inconsistent. If you need the Internet for your trip just be warned. There is a Internet cafe around the block which was a god-send but you will will also feel the "change" of the people in the place...not being snobby just an observation... If I had stayed here for more then one night I would of been SUPER put off! Cheers, Olga
  18. BTW...I was looking at the hotwire list of hotels... There is not a listing for Culver City Area on the list or am I wrong ( I know th e Priceline forum has a Culcer City section)? Can we add one? Right now I am searching dates.... I see a 3 star which I believe is a Raddision and a 2 star (Extended Stay?) Let me know...
  19. I really the like the Barcelo 4 points 1. Free Internet 2. $9 a day parking which is less then nearby LAX.. 3. Solid Comfy/Clean Rooms (hopefully the elevator is fixed from when I visited last) 4. Cool litte Library area They seem to take this property off Priceline and now it is only on Hotwire...When you request a 2.5 on Priceline it upgrades you to the nearby Raddisson which I found to have issues....18 parking far away from hotel, so-so Rooms and such... Cheers, O
  20. Some FYI... I've stayed at this hotel a number of time...Good deal. If they offer you an upgrade to Regency, don't take it...The rooms are hot (atrium hotel) and not as comfy as regular rooms and while the club is a novelty not that big of a deal aside from a cool view. They are decorated all fancy...and the view is really not much better...I've stayed on the 4th. 6th and 17th floors...Hotel is near a lot of transportation :) Enjoy, O
  21. I thought maybe it was the Crowne Mission Valley without their Internet working or something but when I called their Internet was up... I ended up going with HW 7/8/09 3* Downtown/Harbor Island $60 plus $13 for taxes and $22 for self-parking (the Internet is free but a bit slow here) about they same as MV but not as hot! Hotel is so-so but I will save that for trip advisor Amenties were the six they usually show...
  22. hey Everyone... All my bids on PRICELINE keep getting rejected.. I need to find somewhere for tonight..driving in from OC $80 HW mission valley Amenties business center fitness center Did they forget some icons? Odd..help Appreciate Cheers, O
  23. I had heard good things about this hotel.... BUT I was was a little worried about getting the Hilton across the way which makes you pay for PARKING and INTERNET (which is iffy I have been told)... I took the plunge thanks to BB.com and got the hotel I wanted...next time I will probably go to Hotwire...there is is like $55 but now I know they hotel is worth it! This is an Intercontinental Brand "boutique" hotel...very modern, fun and spacious. It is in the industrial area but once you head north you find lots of civilization (Baja Fresh, Coffee Bean, CVS) There were a few blimps: They could never get me extra pillows because they couldn't find the key, they do not have PPV movies, my in room safe did not work (but since I was only overnight it was no biggie..If it had been a multiday stay I would of asked to change rooms), and I think all the rooms have a shower so don't plan on being able to take a bath...but the shower is big and does have a very sturdy stool ( aka I am a big girl) with RAIN shower head. The room was spacious, comfy,Internet was great and they have AVEDA products...I can tell you I stayed at the Hyatt Embarcadero (Regency LEVEL) SF in a room that tried to be all cool/hip for $250 a night last August that was just medicore illustrating that more expensive is not always better ( get a nice regular room there)...the Hotel Indigo was better...My room got a bit of noise since it was near the elevator but I didn't care While walking around before I left I saw the maids cleaning other types of rooms. I would forgo the suite, the regular rooms are spacious enough Honestly, I am ready to go back just to chill out for the great price....I just wish they would get some movies on demand so I can truly veg out. Cheers, O
  24. Well the Marriott generall costs more in bidding...DON't FORGET PARADISE does charge $20 a night for parking FYI
  25. Mr. T, My gf was told this was new procedure for guests using Priceline... I mean I am use to someone asking for my credit card and identification but she was asked for her ID, they photocopied it and THEN they asked for her credit card to confim/incidentals...like I said just odd...I mean I am a female who travels often for business and play... Cheers, O
