  1. I spent 6 weeks there this summer at a condo in Maalaea and wanted to get a night on this deal. I used the $20 gratuity and kind words and was upgraded to a sweet suite. Roughly 1500 square feet with three balconies. Oh, also received a complimentary bottle of champagne for my "anniversary"... :)
  2. I just wrote my complaint to the BBB going through the link provided by a previous poster. Now the two threads have been merged and I can't find the other link to write my complaint. Theruare, has it been lost in the merge?
  3. Well, I alswo got that $10 offer and I replied that it is simply not acceptable. When I checked my trips they have cancelled my reservation and credited my card. Check out the IRONY of their own language. It is as if I asked for this! Important Information About Your Hotel This confirms that Request Number -------------- for your hotel reservation has been cancelled as of 8/28/2006 at 2:36 PM. Priceline has processed the refund to your credit or debit card. You can expect to see it posted to your card within 5 business days. A summary of all charges related to this order is shown below. Please note that Name Your Own Price
  4. I responded to the email I received with a "sorry, I do not accept that" and here is the exchange thus far. I am sure I didn't make myself clear. I have already gone that route. Customer service wasn't even made aware of the situation. When I received a manager it was to read me the original email sent to me. Personally, I don't think I should be spending all of this time dealing with a problem that Priceline created. The time I will spend will be writing the appropriate people in Connecticut, along with the BBB and the USA Today. I would rather not be rash and will wait to see if my credit card will be credited to see if Priceline actually carries out the threat of cancellation. At this moment, the resort and Priceline still have my reservation. I am still hopeful that will remain as I have NEVER under any circumstances heard of Priceline attempting to break their agreement with their customers. At the very least, I would expect a letter to my home address from Priceline's legal counsel with the reasoning and legal speak behind breaching our agreement. Until I see that letter, I will assume that everything will be honored. Thank you for responding, Eric -----Original Message----- Dear Mr., Thank you for taking the time to send us an e-mail. 5. I respectfully disagree with allowing Priceline to void the contract. There whole business is predicated on buyer beware and tough luck if you don't get what you want. The fact that the board reported a possible mistake is irrelevent to the topic. I honestly feel that our own character is being tested and hats off to those willing to give back their rooms, but I too had called many others and planned this awesome, extended family retreat. I don't see giving me my money back as a viable option that really makes me feel "whole." I paid my credit card bill of over $600 for this bid already. I am a teacher at the end of summer vacation. We ALL use Priceline for the deals. Are you saying that we should abolish this website because we discuss great deals and give out information to attain these bargains? I have people that have now scheduled vacation time. I told people that I could treat them to an fantastic resort for their holiday gift. How do you remedy that? At what point do businesses check their character? I don't see too many people complaining when the businesses put in those "hidden" fees. Funny thing is I almost didn't go for this deal because of the $20 resort fee. Are you going to tell me that this resort can charge half price for their resort room and call that a deal? $225 per night? Is it really a deal if they only make a 15% profit instead of 65%? What kind of integrity does an industry possess when the same exact room can cost $99 vs. $499 for different times of the year? At the very least, the very, very least, they should offer these rooms for the lowest rate during any part of the year. And yes, that includes the summer $89 specials they run. Sorry, I think pressure needs to be applied. Shame on Hilton. But the real shame is upon Priceline because they refuse to play by the same rules as the other side...their customers.
  6. I just got off the phone with Leigh (1st layer), was sent to Megan (2nd layer...and taking this personally...rude!) I was told that it is in the terms and conditions yet she could not tell me where it is that Priceline can cancel their contract. I suggested to her that she should find it, cut it out and place it in front of her associates, because it would save alot of time. She kept referring it too me as 22 pages and she doesn't have time. Do you Theruare or anyone else here know of it? I finally got an address from her for the VP of customer service. Even though I am not breaking the contract, I need to write to her to get the part of the contract that makes it just between me and myself and that Priceline can wiggle out. I suggest everyone do the same. Do we have anyone talking class action yet???
  7. Got the JW Marriott Desert Ridge for $75. Previous bid was 74 for this one night stay.
  8. First bid for one night the 15th. $32 accepted at the Doubletree-Reid Park. Went through Savingsbarn.
  9. Started at $50 for tucson north resort and got the $14 counter. Then went free rebids for 52 and then the hit at 54. Went through Savingsbarn. This is for one night, Sat. September 10.
  10. You could have gotten this hotel for the same price you received it for the 4th of August. In the future, go to the help menu from the confirmation page and you can add a night if their is availability. You can add as many nights as your original bid either before or after your stay. Since yours was a one night stay, you could have added a night on the 3rd or the 5th.
  11. Great hotel. Try the seafood buffet on Friday night. Very reasonable. Buy an Entertainment Book from Thereuare for $9.99 and use the two for one Hornblower cruise and save $40. Stroll out your door into Seaport Village and get the Chicken Parm w/ pasta at the food court for $9. Big enough for two!
  12. Tried a bunch of weekend dates and didn't get any nibbles on the $45 that others have gotten. I also got the Fourth of July through the website with the Travelzoo deal of unlimited golf for two in a Hacienda suite for $129 (last day fellas). Figure I would piggy back the night through Priceline and play unlimited for the two days( wife doesn't play) :) I started with 45 and got the rebid with $13 more and ignored. Went 47 and then 49. 48 is unproven at this point. Went through the Savingsbarn.
  13. Started at $45 and was rejected all the way up to 59. Congrats given on $60 for The Hilton Squaw Peak resort for two rooms and two nights. Lazy river here I come. Net direct rate is $80 on website.
  14. Here's the lowdown. I bid on a 4* and the resort also blacks out. I am worried that it will be "upgraded" to one of the resorts that quite frankly is a three star. The confirmation said resort but nothing about the upgrade. When I go to the "check my trips" category after logging in it has it as a 4. This is a top notch hotel that is closer to a 5 than a 4. Hope that helps.
  15. Bid through the Savingsbarn for a friend after noticing this property on TOBB. Last rejected bid was $88 as I tried to undercut the $90 going rate. Started at 50,60,70,80,85,88 then the winner.
  16. Got this on the first attempt bidding on April 2. I was worried because many resorts were showing no availability. Should have started lower. PS I bid through Savingsbarn
  17. I beg to differ 3B. I was put on the regency floor in La Jolla all for fish. That's right filet of fish. Last summer, 4 days all on the regency club for $52 a night! Went away for a couple of days and came back for another night and got free valet plus the club floor. Actually, many people will give you that something extra if you treat them well.
  18. As Theruare is probably too nice and I am not, perhaps "your end of the bargain" should be to use the affiliates of this board to do your bidding. It is well worth noting that most of us read TOBB and will notice that Owl36 used their affiliate. Seeing that the OMNI for $75 was really this site's info, and the fact that the other lady is so mean, you should give your support from where you get your support. All that being said, I hope you enjoy your stay and "come around" in the future.
  19. Wow, I should have read the post first before submitting. I am apald at mi por speling and horibal punkchuashun!
  20. I feel privledged to share yet wary about giving out names of people I deal with. Here are some guidelines. 1) They can only say no, that is the worst that can happen. 2) It is about building relationships and making people feel good. 3) Remember rule one while applying rule two. I go in there as pleasant as can be. I call people by there name and search hard for things we might share in common. If the name tag says something about a town ask if it is near a place you've heard of. I am a teacher (don't ridicule my errors because this is for communication purposes only and not to be graded!) and let that be known somewhere because right now I am looked at as saintly without being monetarily rewarded. I also worked many years as a waiter and did a small stint in a hotel room service job. Let me do my Omni presentation for you. I called before arriving asking to get an early check in because I had a tee time at noon (not at their course but I didn't say that). They said they would do the best they could and flagged my room. Turns out my wife and I took separate cars down from Phoenix because she had other things to do and didn't want to hang somewhere until 4. So I get there and go, Hi "insert name" You have a beautiful hotel here. I explain that I have a room flagged for early check in but don't need it because the lil' lady is coming later. I thank her for flagging it but realize she can help someone else out so I release it. I do explain that the wife is coming down woth a four year old. I ask if there is a way of getting a room with a rollaway or perhaps a suite if it is available. She then syas she will be happy to check and I iommediately ask if she is allowed to accept a gratuity. She smiles and says how that is kind but unnecessary. She mentions that the room would just go unused but I follow up with my work history and that we both may realize iot I want her to know how much I appreciate it. I put the $20 underneath my credit card and give it to her for the incidentals. She aks if it is a special occasion and I reply sort of ( didn't have the heart to tell her that the special occasion was the fact I was into a suite). She then asks if it would be ok to send a bottle of wine. Who am I to whine at wine? Along comes the wine after the round of golf along with the platter of cheese and fruit! But that is the BEGINNING of a relationship. I go back at checkout and say thank you to her in person and hand her the positive comment card. I tell her I will try to come back soon and hope she is there. So I get this last res. yesterday, the first thing I do is call the hotel directly and ask for the front desk. Guess who answers? I say hjey so and so remember me I had the wine and yada yada yada. I explain i am coming back and inquire about easter brunch. I DO NOT ask for an upgrade but I only further the relationship. When I get back ther I will either have gher or say that last time so an so gave me this yada yada yada. End of story and start of high living. As long as my fingers are bleeding from typing, allow me to go over another story. Last summer got the Hyatt in La Jolla for $52 a night for four nights. When I got there I remarked how the last tiome they put me in a suite and asked if it was possible again. Of course, I also throw out my Hyatt membership card. While he is saying I will try I ask if he or the girl next to him if he likes fish he says yeah why (spelling and punctuation be darned, I'm hot with the keyboard!) I tell them I am going on a party boat and that I won't be able to drive all my filets back to Phoenix. Long story short I get a corner room on the floor with the concierge and free food and drinks. When I return for another night at another time I ask how the fish was and get the same room with the same deal AND complementary valet parking! Hope this helps. I would love to hear other success stories. Not all of them are this easy or successful. In fact the Islandia fish deal only got me a high view room and free parking, no suite but still pretty sweet. I guess what it comes down to for me is treating people well. In turn, they will treat you well. :)
  21. Started at $65 for resort Tucson North, and received the 17 more counter. I can counter on one finger with what to do with that offer ( I think you know which finger). Went with next free bids at $68, $71 and wavered on $74 but decided to nudge the extra buck to get the Omni that I knew was coming at $75. Last time there I got upgraded to a hacienda suite and received a comp bottle of wine with a nice fruit and cheese tray. $20 worth of grease went a long way! Went through the barn door for the first time. I really appreciate the service theruare! :)
  22. I got the hotel screen for those dates at $25 a night. When I put it all in with my credit card it said sorry the inventory is all gone. BUMMER!!!! :)
