  1. Amenities: Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Children's activities Booked through the HOTWIRE link. Checked the hotel list prior and was pretty sure I would get the Sheraton. Keep in mind parking is 21 a night, and Internet is 9.99 every 24 hours. Still a great price on the property. The Sharaton website had the same room for 125 a night. So overall a great savings!! Thank you better bidding!! $216.00 ($72.00 per night x 3 nights x 1 room) Taxes & fees $60.01 Trip total (USD) $276.01
  2. I used the HOTWIRE link from this site to purchase. Amenities Listed: Pet Friendly Business Center Fitness Center High-Speed Internet Access Restaurant Looking at this site beforehand I had a great idea of what hotel it would be. Happy with the results, thanks as always!
  3. Had no luck for that trip. ended up getting a Best Western in Placentia, and booked on the BW website.
  4. Needed a room for one night, saw this rate on Hotwire, and using the board, thought it would be the Westin. I am happy with this deal! I used the HOTWIRE link. Hotel Rate per night: PerNight:$133.00 Tax recovery charges & fees: $25.82 Subtotal: $158.82 Trip total:$158.82 Complete Amenities listed below Amenities See description Indoor pool(s) Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Thanks!!
  5. I have gotten rooms in the past for 52.00, so I usually start at 48 or 50. My max would be 65.00(?) since I plan on getting 5 nights.
  6. I have used Priceline and BetterBidding a few times, and LOVE it. Has Priceline recently added more zones for this area? I am looking for a hotel in the Garden Grove or Anaheim North area. I will be bidding for a 3.5 * property. My bid strategy will be as follows: 3.5* August 6- August 11 Start bid with Garden Grove Add Anaheim North Add Anaheim Hills Add Buena Park Add Cypress Add Laguna beach Add Lake Forest finally if still not successful, I will Add Seal Beach. 6 "re-bid" zones seem like a lot more than before. Any comments on the bid strategy would be helpful. I looked ahead, and it may be early but the Calendar of Wins didnt have a lot of wins posted yet. Thanks!
  7. I checked the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins, and saw this hotel went for 90.00 the week before my week, and 85.00 the week after. La Quinta was my TOP choice, as I have stayed there before and LOVED it! Bid History: 85.00 for the Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage Indian Wells Palm Desert area, Resort Level only selected, and was Rejected. I immediately added Palm Springs area (which does not have a Resort available)and kept the Resort Level only selected for an immediate re-bid of 90.00 per night. Accepted by La Quinta Resort! Total Cost: Room Subtotal: 360.00 Taxes & Fees: 62.48 Total Cost: 422.48 As always, I used the PRICELINE link from this site. Thanks for the good work on this site, keep it up!
  8. I forgot to book through the PRICELINE link, sorry! 10/21/2011-10/23/2011 2 nights stay in Monterey First Bid: 85.00, 4 * Monterey area, not accepted, was given the option of an immediate re-bid by adding 16.00. So I did. Second Bid: 101.00 Portola Hotel and Spa at Monterey Bay was accepted. Room subtotal:202.00 Taxes: 33.76 COST: 235.76 Love this property, have stayed there before, and at 101.00 a steal! even with the parking fees Thanks!
  9. Does closing out the browser after each set of searches allow for multiple searching before the 24hours? ((If rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE)) I am also "logging in" when I get to the screen rather than typing my info from scratch each time, does that make a difference? Thanks again! justagirl
  10. Thanks for the info! I was comparing to your hotel list, now I know to use PRICELINE to determine what star ratings are in what areas!! I will re-bid tonight using your suggested strategy. When I win, would you like me to edit this post with my results, or post a new forum topic? Thanks!
  11. I have used priceline & better bidding several times and looking at the recent winning bids, I felt confident I would get a bid accepted. I am hoping for the Crowne Plaza, but any of the 3.5* will do in the Garden Grove area or Anaheim North. I had bids of 42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 51, 52, 56 my strategy was to bid at 3.5* at Garden-Grove, added Anaheim north, added Anaheim Hills, added Laguna Beach. I was thinking I could add Laguna Hills - Mission Viejo, since there are no 3.5* but didn't want to risk it. I will bid again and start at 50 repeating the above pattern. Any suggestions on how to improve my bidding strategy? Since I am staying several nights, I dont want to pay more than 60-62. Thanks! justagirl
  12. 3* San Diego- Downtown and Harbor Island- Holiday Inn on the Bay 67.00 per night, 02/12/2011 - 02/15/2011 Priceline taxes and fees 35.67 I bought travel insurance for 5.00 each night, since we booked so far in advance. TOTAL COST- 251.67 I bid using the PRICELINE link at the top of page. Looking at the hotel list, I knew I would be happy with a 3* in the Downtown area. I started my bid with higher stars- 4 and a bid of 59.00 because I saw in the calendar of wins that someone at one time had a success at 60.00. I added Coronado as an area and increased by bid by 1.00. It was rejected, so I dropped down to 3.5*, and increased by 1.00, it was rejected, so I added another area, San Diego Coastal, increased my bid by another 1.00, rejected. I added Del Mar area, and increased by 1.00 and rejected. I decided to stop playing around, and dropped to 3* and a bid of 67.00. And it was accepted. There is a 22.00 parking fee, but kids eat free in the restaurant, which will help. This is a valuable service! Keep up the good work!
  13. After multiple attempts at both the 3* and 3.5* levels, with bids ranging from 41.00-58.00 I finally won with a bid of 52.00 for a 3* level hotel in the Disneyland-Garden Grove area, and received the Crowne Plaza (which is rated a 3.5*). I am not sure how I got a 3.5* while bidding on a 3*, but I am very pleased with the results, because even including the 9.00 per day resort fee, it is still a good price for this hotel. Bid: 52.00 Dates: 08/01/10-08/06/10 Result: Crowne Plaza I purchased through the PRICELINE link on better bidding. Thanks!
