Despite negative reviews elsewhere concerning this property, my room and my stay completely satisfactory. Airport shuttle every 20 min, 24/7. One tip: ONT charges a $10 "facility fee" for car rentals on top of the taxes. The Doubletree has an Enterprise agency on site, enabling one to avoid this charge.

Amsterdam hotels on weekends in Spring are EXPENSIVE! Good deal at the airport, though. Got Radisson SAS Schiphol for $60 for Sat, May 2nd. Looking at tax (6%), figured PL paid $55.80 for room. Then I got same hotel for $56 bid for May 17-19th. Radisson is 4* on PL, 5* on gov't rating. Hotel has free shuttle to airport, where there is a train station. Schiphol is halfway to the tulip fields.

Stayed there in March -- PL paid $32+ for room. (I paid $34 based on previous vist). Stayed there again in April -- PL paid $31+. (I paid $33; turns out I overbid by $1). They are supposed to cross out the room price on the customer bill but don't do a very thorough job. BTW: the Budget lot is across the street. It's cheaper to turn in the car each night than pay the $11 for hotel parking.

I have found that a $5 raise works, and that sometimes $1 is enough. You will ALWAYS get the room for less than the counteroffer, although you will need to change your bid (e.g., add a zone) or wait the 72 hours to rebid
