  1. I booked just 6/25 for $99 using the PRICELINE link provided after quite a few rebids. I'll be staying at the Sheraton.
  2. THe heading is a typo. The dates are 6/25 to 6/27. I bid up to $116 before exhausting rebids. I'm getting pretty close to the $139 sticker price of the Sheraton. Further, the price of The Chelsea isn't much higher. I suppose my "maximum bid" is some amount slightly less than $139, depending on how much I value the benefits I gain from booking directly. So, I will wait until tomorrow and contemplate my strategy. My bids on PRICELINE are via this site.
  3. After a bid of $91, I received the following message that I thought I would share: I am used to getting the counter-bids, but usually they are for $20 or $30 more. This is for over $100 more, and more than twice the amount of the original bid! Of course, I am not accepting it, as I will continue to use re-bids. In the past, even on weekends in the summer (provided it's not late in the summer), I have been able to grab the 3.5* Sheraton for $100 or less. This hotel can be booked for $139 for this weekend via their website. It's interesting that the counter-offer would be so much higher; perhaps it is for a different hotel (it's my understanding that, every once in a while, a 3.5* other than the Sheraton will appear, although it's never happened to me), or perhaps it is for an upgrade to a 4*. Either way, no thanks.
  4. When I try to book this hotel, the lowest rate I see is $199. Is there some sort of promotional code?
  5. On slow weekends, 4*s sometimes can be had starting as low as $71 on PRICELINE in the Jersey City/Hoboken region. The possible results are the Hyatt, the Westin, and the W. It seems that they pop up in this order of frequency. All are convenient to the path. I've gotten the Hyatt twice for $71 for separate Friday-night 1-night stays. I'd say it's worth a shot.
  6. Identified before buying using this site. It is convenient to UMD for a football game. I used HOTWIRE link.
  7. I'm happy with this rate for a long weekend in AC. Based on reports from this board, I knew it was a possibility that I would get Trump Plaza, where I have never stayed before. I've stayed at the Sheraton twice before, and the rooms are superior to most casino's rooms. I'll be staying for free on 10/12-10/13 in a comped room, although I still have to decide between Bally's and Showboat. I used the Priceline Link.
  8. This is a perfect location for me, close to Penn Station, and it's an inexpensive result. I used the list of Priceline reported hotels, and based on that information took my chances that I wouldn't get a run-down hotel. It appears that I succeeded. Also, I used the Priceline link.
  9. It seems that $71 is the magic number for weekend 4*s in Jersey City. Is there any chance that I would be able to find free street parking?
  10. This is a beautiful hotel. Congratulations on getting such a good deal.
  11. I'm another Red Sox fan traveling down for Saturday's game. I bid as high as $61 for a 3.5* using rebids without success. I then tried a 3* for $48 and won the Courtyard on the first bid at this star level. I used the Priceline Link.
  12. I Bid $39 for a 3* yesterday, but was rejected without a counteroffer. There were no free rebids at 3*. I bid $44 for a 3* tonight and was given the Stamford Marriott Hotel And Spa, which is a 3.5*. While IMO this hotel is comparable to the other 3* options in Stamford (Holiday Inn Select and Hilton), I am thrilled that I received this hotel because it is more centrally located than the other possibilities. Just like most weekend nights in Stamford, it's a terrific value. I used the Priceline Link.
  13. I have stayed there twice, and it's a good hotel in a fairly good location. You did well. The walk is four long blocks. Two of the blocks are through the Outlet Mall which you mention. Once you get past the mall (walking towards the boardwalk), you can continue on the sidewalk or enter Caesars or Bally's and continue your walk all the way to the Boardwalk inside the casinos. The Sheraton is near Ducktown, which is the traditionally Italian neighborhood of AC. I strongly recommend Angelo's Fairmont Tavern, which is about a three minute walk. I've heard that Angeloni's II and Dock's Oyester House are also very good; they're about 5-7 minutes away.
  14. Take a look at HOTWIRE for those dates. There's a 3.5* in Midtown East that appears to be the Millennium U.N. Plaza Hotel for $119 and a 3.5* in Midtown Central that could be the Sheraton Manhattan or the Sheraton New York for $122. I find that you can get better value outside of Time Square but still be within walking distance. As you go east and north, I think you'll also find that the neighborhoods are more charming. The 4* in Central Park Area for $139 that appears to be the Empire Hotel might be the best value/location for someone who has never been to NY. You'd still have easy access to the Times Square/Midtown neighborhoods, but you'll also have exceptionally easy to Central Park during the day, and you'll easily be able to walk up to the Upper West and Upper East sides to explore. You can likely find many of the same hotels for 10% - 20% cheaper on PRICELINE, but you'll lose the ability to guess the hotel before you book.
  15. I don't know if this is the proper place to report this, but I just called the hotel and made reference to my Hyatt Rewards Account, and they were very accommodating with room-selection. As with any Priceline purchase, I expected that I could be assigned any room, but this time they were able to accommodate my request of a non-smoking king with a river view. I think it's worth mentioning that in order to get what you want, you have to at least ask.
  16. I had a pretty good idea of how much it would be, and there were many combinations of rebid zones. I was rejected at $70 and accepted at $71. I used the Priceline link for my purchase.
  17. Using rebids, I bid $66, $69, $72, and $74. I kept these increments small because I received a counteroffer at $66. I have stayed in this property before, and it is a nice hotel, especially for this price. The winning bid was made on 4/26/09. In the future, I will use PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin my travel purchases.
  18. I was banned from TOS after failing to use their link on a winning bid in Atlantic City. It was the very first time I had elicited advice on that site, and I had actually looked for a PRICELINE link similar to the one on this website before I made my bid. However, it was displayed differently that BB's, and I overlooked it. I bid 4-6 trips a year on Priceline, and TOS has lost a contributor (in that I posted my win) and a frequent traveler. I have used this site in the past as well, and I will now consistently use BB's links for my purchases (in the past I sometimes did, sometimes didn't), despite the minor inconveniences from clicking back and forth when rebidding. I will also post information about my win in the New Jersey forum. Keep up the good work BB.
  19. I decided to go to NYC for the weekend rather than AC. I'm staying in Stamford.
  20. 7/11 - 7/12 Central Albany 3* Airport, Pool, Business Center, Golf, Fitness, Restaurant, Laundry, Tennis Thanks!
