  1. Bid 45 in Deerfield and then added two free zones(cant remember which ones) and went to 48 and then 50 and got it on the 2 rebid at $50. Was a nice property, room was cozy and clean.
  2. So this bid was for my vacation with my kids last summer to Orlando... the bid itself was normal just worked down from 5* down to 3 * in usual fashion adding all areas around Disney and universal till I got this hotel... The hotel itself is not bad, definitely not a 3.5 star and barely a 3* in my opinion. Room subtotal: $220.00 Taxes & fees: $38.88 Total charged today: $258.88 Total charged: $258.88 HOWEVER, I had major problems with this hotel from check in to well after checkout. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION IF YOU GET THIS HOTEL! I have used Priceline to book 50+ times over the past 15 years and this was the only bad experience I had and directly due to the hotel. First when I went to check-in I was told there was no reservation(the hotel was full as another customer was being told who was trying to extend stay). I called priceline and it took 45mins to get this resolved. The rest of the stay was uneventful, except they were really strict about the checkout time not even allowing a 20 minute overstay. So was rushed out and that was not a problem. However, after getting home I reviewed my credit card statement and while I expected to see the resort fee charge, I saw another 400.52 charge on my card for the room itself from Allure. I called multiple times to the hotel and was transferred to either billing, accounting or manager and always got a voicemail message or just hung upon. I then called my credit card company who suspended the charge as my credit card had a priceline charge stating the hotel name from the time of booking.(I am glad priceline puts the hotel name on its CC charges). Called priceline CS and over the next 2 months get a run around from their India customer service center. I submitted multiple documents and copies of my credit card invoice and they delayed and refused to help. I finally got fed up and just contacted Priceline corporate offices and to their credit in 1 week they admitted the mistake and refunded the original price of the hotel stay. Not at all during this time did the Allure hotel every contact me back. While the indian call center for Priceline was useless, the corporate offices were very helpful. It helped that I had good documentation of the hotels wrongdoing but it was a real hassle to sort out.
  3. Late post: Just adding these wins in from last year. Was tight in booking a hotel for an extended layover for my father so kind of had to go with first one I could Bid solely for JFK area hotels, first bid on 3.5* at 85, rejected rebid on 3* at 90 and rejected rebid 95 and added jamaica(no 3*),rejected rebid at 100 and added elmhurst (no 3*), and accepted for this fairfield inn My dad like the hotel, shuttle from JFK took him there and back in the am without incident. He thought it was fine the rate on priceline for the hotel was 150 or so... not too bad
  4. Bid for the Detroit Northwest hotels, only Novi and Livonia have 3.5 stars. So bid for 3.5* starting at 45 with Livonia rebid 48 added Canton rebid 50 added Farmington rebid 52 added Plymouth rebid 55 added Novi and then got this Marriott in Livonia Good deal for this hotel. The facility was as expected, a fitness room that was OK, but nice pool and hot tub. Staff was good. The Sheraton in Novi slightly better in my opinion but still for this price cant beat it.
  5. Bid for the Detroit Northwest hotels, only Novi and Livonia have 3.5 stars. So bid fr 3.5* starting at 52 with Livonia(had gotten the livonia marriot last month for 55) rebid 55 added Canton rebid 58 added Farmington rebid 60 added Novi rebid 62 added plymouth changed to only one night and again at $62 and then got the Sheraton Novi; then just added one more night at same rate to round out my stay The hotel was excellent, very nice staff and they gave me a nice quiet room on the 6th floor and free wifi due to being a SPG member. Has excellent gym and nice pool/hot tub. Very happy with this win.
  6. Made a booking for a friend's visit. Was looking for a 3* or better in the Fairfax/chantilly region. Was also trying to keep it below 50. -First started with Fairfax at 40 for 4* -Added chantilly -Added Dulles north and 3.5 star -Added Tysons corner -Went to 3* with the previous areas and got this hotel for 45, Which seems a price best for some time compared to recent postings. Per friend, Hotel was nice but some dated carpets. Lobby was typical and in great condition. Staff friendly. Good location and parking not a problem. Would recommend again. Thanks betterbidding for the help.
  7. So I made spontaneous trip to DC and was only searching 2 days before purchase. I wanted to stay in DC downtown and wanted a 4* or higher. -I started with the Georgetown and all the surrounding areas successively in the DC area. -Had to add suburbs without 4*(VA) . I had about 6 areas selected and had raised my price from initial bid of 65 to 85 and finally got this hotel. Judging by recent wins, this was about 10-20 higher than some other bids, but I figure for the quick planning not too bad. I would recommend this hotel for seeing the Capitol or museums in the area. PS of course used the PRICELINE links to make the booking.
  8. So looking for this hotel in particular because of its proximity to my test, Hotwire was listing this hotel(almost 100% sure it was this hotel) for 129/night. I tried at 65 per night for University City area and it brought counter offer for 79.00 which i declined and put for 69.00 which was declined. I added one more night and bid was accepted. Was there for USMLE Step 2 CSA (medical school liscensing exam) which is located less than a block away from the hotel. Hotel was nice, room was spacious with a desktop computer inside(slow as heck, but wifi was better) and nice flat screen with multiple A/V hookups. The only problem was it looked like room was not well dusted. Otherwise nice room and hotel location was great. However, PARKING FEES ARE OUTRAGEOUS 25.00 per night. Other area garages are for 28.00 per night so hardly any discount for hotel guests. looks like safe area, a lot of nice little restaurants around. I would go again. good luck
  9. Looking for hotel near columbus convention center for my parents for a labor day weekend conference. All the 3* around the convention center were already booked up I was just looking for anything closeby. Ok with the courtyard by marriott that is not even listed on the pinned list for priceline list for columbus (please add). First chose only downtown for the whole weekend and bid 4* at $49 trying to not get the Hyatt on Capitol square(too far) rejected Added 3* and went to $55 and again rejected added 2.5* with trepidation at $60 and was accepted for this courtyard by marriott Seems to be less than two blocks from the convention center which is good, but has a 18 surcharge for onsite parking. But for late booking at the conference it seems to be a good deal, their list for that weekend for standard room is 109 per nite so that is not bad. Details are below Courtyard By Marriott Columbus Downtown 2
  10. I was trying to get a cheap price on a 2.5 or 3* hotel on 3/17 for the next day for my mother since her plans to stay with a friend around DC fell through. She was dropping off a friend of hers at Regan airport so we first tried Crystal city. We went through a lot of requests detailed below for almost an hour before we got this 4*. Not easy to book a day before. Check-In Date: Tuesday, March 18, 2008 Check-Out Date: Wednesday, March 19, 2008 Hotel Name: Renaissance M Street Hotel 1143 New Hampshire Ave Nw Washington, District Of Columbia 20037 202-775-0800 Your Offer Price: $85.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $85.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $20.14 Total Charges*: $105.14 Request history: First requested Crystal city(right beside airport) at 3* and 55 and rejected Then added Springfield(no 3*'s) and went to 60 and rejected Then redid with just crystal city for 2.5* at 60 and rejected add 2* at 63 and rejected Redid bid and did Crystal city and Alexandria - Old Town Area for 2.5* at 50 rejected added White House - Downtown rejected added Georgetown - Foggy Bottom and 55 rejected added Convention Ctr - Capitol Hill and 60 rejected added Dupont Circle - Woodley Park 63 rejected added Arlington and 65 rejected added Springfield at 65 rejected Rebid on Crystal city and Arlington for 2* at 65 and rejected Rebid using 4* at White House - Downtown , Georgetown - Foggy Bottom at 85 and finally got the M Street..... Very tough this time around. Not sure if it was because day before of because of some large conference around there. I really was worried wouldn't get anything, but still did manage to get a very nice hotel for too much. My mother and her friend really liked it and even with the 32 dollar valet parking charge it was still well worth it. There was even a timely shuttle from the hotel to the airport so it worked out nice for my mother. Many thanks to all the other forum contributors whose posts helped me out in making the bids.
  11. Courtyard By Marriott New Carrollton Greenbelt - Hyattsville 8330 Corporate Dr Hyattsville, Maryland 20785-2234 Check-In Date: Sat, Jun 23, 2007 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, Jun 24, 2007 / 12:00 PM Priceline win. Lot of hotels seemed to be booked up in the area. Was bidding for Bowie,MD but there were no hotels. Bid $48 for 3* in Bowie, Greenbelt rejected added Laurel and went to 50 rejected added Camp Springs and 52 rejected added 2.5* and $58 and rejected added 2* and $54 and accepted for 2.5 star Marriott Turned out for the best especially with the tight bookings in the area. Was planning to go six flags so this should work at well.
  12. Tried a first bid at 55 dollars to see if I could the other 3* property in this area the newer Radisson, but no luck. Lakeview is nice though and even though I could have got it at a cheaper bid 45-50 it is still worth it. It seems that the Radisson is harder to get now adays, but mcgervy seems to have better luck with it than me... l Check-In Date: Thu, Sep 21, 2006 Check-In Time: After 04:00 PM Check-Out Date: Fri, Sep 22, 2006 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $55.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $55.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.42 Total Charges*: $69.42
  13. Four Points Sheraton Washington White House - Downtown 1201 K Street Nw Washington, District Of Columbia 20005 202-289-7600 I went to DC just for a day for rally over at Lafayette Park beside the white house and wanted a hotel within walking distance to it. Thought maybe try to get the Capitol Hilton for 75 from priceline but no luck, got this new 2.5* hotel for $68. It was nice 4 Points Sheraton and they put us in a standard room on the 9th floor. The checkin staff was nice even though it was 2 am. She even put us on a highest floor for better view and more away from the construction noise next door. I scored a meter parking right outside the hotel when I arrived and since it was a weekend I could leave my car there the whole day. The garage is valet only and is 28 standard rate for the area. However, I noticed it was full on Saturday and someone else also said in a review that their garage is small and gets full a lot. The interior was nice and they had free Wifi and internet connections in rooms which is a nice bonus. Did not go to the fitness area or pool but they were avaialble. Also, didn't go to the restaurant and we arrive too late for the room service, but the restaurant in the hotel is rated one of the 10 best in DC. There are also some nice corner cafes on the same block and a CVS pharmacy about 2 blocks away. The location is good being only .5 miles from whitehouse. Not as close as places as capitol hilton, but even my very pregnant wife did not mind the walk over to the sites. The only thing that I can criticize is the very small bathroom. The room was a little small but the bathroom was tiny. However, in general the property was nice, good location and pleasant staff; I would not mind staying there again.
  14. I am going to DC just for a day for rally over at Lafayette Park beside the white house and wanted a hotel within walking distance to it. Thought maybe try to get the Capitol Hilton for 75 but no luck, got this new 2.5* hotel. Seems that the properties are moderately booked with vacationers and maybe the protest going on there on top of perhaps a busy Friday night. This was my bidding process. Started the bid for 75 for 4* White House-Downtown - rejected Rebid at $75 with Springfield Zone added - rejected Rebid at $78 with Crystal City Zone added - rejected Rebid at $80with Alexandria - Old Town Zone added - rejected Thought maybe try for the 2.5* courtyard or residence inn Started the bid for 58 for 2.5* White House-Downtown got the raise $17 and free rebid option, which i rejected(73 seemed a bit much for a 2.5 star) Started again with 4* at 78 and added 3* in White House-Downtown - rejected This gave me nothing, so added 2.5* and lowered the bid price to 65 - rejected Added 2* and raised to $68 and then won the 2.5* Four Points Sheraton Washington (upgrade from 2*) Saved about $25 from the online rates which will go to pay for the parking. Not the best deal I got from Priceline, but probably best I could do for the busy season and needing this particular area. Four Points Sheraton Washington White House - Downtown 1201 K Street Nw Washington, District Of Columbia 20005 202-289-7600 Check-In Date: Friday, August 11, 2006 Check-Out Date: Saturday, August 12, 2006 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sat, Aug 12, 2006 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM
  15. Please add this hotel to the list for Long Beach(torrance-carson_ Check-In Date: Saturday, December 17, 2005 Check-Out Date: Sunday, December 18, 2005 Hotel Name: Marriott Torrance Redondo Beach 3635 Fashion Way Torrance, California 90503-4897-4897 310-316-3636 Your Offer Price: $55.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $110.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $23.84 Total Charges: $133.84 After spending a horrible night over at the homestead suites(uncle's booking), I booked this marriott. I bid first for torrance-carson 3* at 45 then 3* $50 added long beach airport(no 3* there) then 3* $55 and added San Pedro and this was accepted However, supposedly $5 dollars was added by a Priceline coupon. Anyways, it was a beautiful Marriot loved it and the pool and excercise room were nice. Nice view from 14th floor and great service. Parking was free in their garage and nice shopping around and not far at all from Redondo/manhattan beaches. In the process of doing it made two new converts to Betterbidding in the process, my uncle and cousin who were litterly floored to see the price I got this marriot for. They used the homestead suites before and my uncle paid for it at 89/night. He was poleaxed to see someone on betterbidding get it for 36 dollars night and then see me get this marriott across the street for 55.
  16. Check-In Date: Saturday, December 10, 2005 Check-Out Date: Wednesday, December 14, 2005 Hotel Name: Renaissance Stanford Court California Street At Powell Street San Francisco, California 94108 415-989-3500 Your Offer Price: $90.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: $360.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $62.43 Total Charges: $422.43 I needed a hotel for a conference going on at Moscone, by the time I was bidding most of the hotels were already booked in USE and near Moscone. I bid up the USE to 90 and then had to add USW and instantly got this Renaissance Stanford Court. Don't mind too much as my work will reimburse me the price. Not a bad price either I guess as rooms were in short supply anyways. Seemed busy at all the hotels even more than explained by a large conference. Definately a nice hotel with better amenities than others. They gave a 7th floor beautiful parlor room that was huge and on the corner with beautiful views of the city and bay. A little of a walk to go up the hill but I really didn't mind it. Pretty happy overall with it.
  17. I got this winning bid for a guest that was coming to town. As far as I know there are only two 3* hotels in Morgantown WV area. The Radisson and this LakeView Resort in Cheat Lake about 10 miles outside Morgantown. I have seen posts on other boards get the Lakeview for 40 or 45 dollars while the radisson was 60 or 65. I previously got the Radisson at $45 but no luck this time. But for our guest who wants to be close to the Interstate this will be fine. The bidding took some work. First I started out with $38 for 3* only with it immediately telling me that was too low so I bumped it to $40. Got nothing, but they said that if I added 12 dollars to the bid then I would get a hotel. Didn't do that but added $3 and then added Fairmont which is 20 miles south of Morgantown. However, to my knowledge their is no hotel in Fairmont that comes close to a 3* rating so it is a safe bet. Still no dice and bumped it to 50 and added Uniontown which also doesn't have a 3*. In doing so they gave me the Lakeview. Not too bad for the 2nd best hotel in the area. -ihqazi
  18. Yeah I was doing it a little rushed while I was visiting my parents house for just a day. Actually, I found out later that the Hyatt was completely booked for that weekend because of that conference so not a big deal. 52 for the Hilton is not a bad price and it is only couple of miles from the convention center. Turns out that the Hilton parks in Airport Garage and if you park it yourself there it is only 26/night. Another option is 13/night if you use the parking lots further away that are connected by shuttle.
  19. Tried to get the O'Hare region Hyatt for my parents who are going there for a Labor day weekend conference. I used somebody's bidding strategy where they have the Hyatt for 52, but instead got the Hilton instead. PREVIOUS PRICELINE WIN It is too bad they are not flying there instead. The Hilton charges almost $40 bucks for parking so that really does add to the cost. Anyone have any suggestions for getting around the parking charges? Check-In Date: Fri, Sep 2, 2005 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Mon, Sep 5, 2005 Your Offer Price: $52.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $156.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $32.16 Total Charges: $188.16
  20. I got this winning bid for a guest speaker that was coming to town. As far as I know there are only two 3* hotels in Morgantown WV area. This Radisson and the LakeView Resort in Cheat Lake about 10 miles outside Morgantown. I have seen posts on other boards get the Lakeview for 40 or 45 dollars while the radisson was 60 or 65. However, I was tickled pink to get the Radisson as it is in town and much newer facility. However bidding takes some strategy. First I started out with $38 for 3* only with it immediately telling me that was too low so I bumped it to $40. Got nothing, but they said that if I added 12 dollars to the bid then I would get a hotel. Didn't do that but added $5 and then added Fairmont which is 20 miles south of Morgantown. However, to my knowledge their is no hotel in Fairmont that comes close to a 3* rating so it is a safe bet. In doing so they gave me the Radisson for $45. The best deal I have heard of so far on this hotel that just opened last year. The cheapest online rate is 119.00 with the exception of the government rates on official business being $75.00. I couldn't rate the hotel as I didn't stay there myself, but my guest said it was very nice. Hotel Name: Radisson Hotel Waterfront Place 2 Waterfront Place Morgantown, West Virginia 26501 304-296-1700 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $11.77 Total Charges: $56.77
  21. 12/23-12/25 Your Offer Price: $45.00 I just got back from the Hyatt Regency. Since there are several reviews I will try not to rehash too much. I showed my Gold passport and was given a 30th floor east tower king. Extremely nice and clean room(pictures at realhotelphotos.com). I agree not enough drawer space, a little costly for any extras, and parking is outrageous at 39 a night. Luckily area garages charge 15/night and there is plenty of free and meter parking that is available at night. Had similar problems getting anyone to answer phone calls and OK service. Obviously the location is prime. I rather enjoyed the hotel and I think it can just pass for a 4* given its location and nice rooms and such. At this price I wouldn't mind staying again.
  22. The Sheraton was actually quite nice. I had a bad experience with 4 pnt sheraton a few places but this one was quite nice and clean. The room was a little smallish but not too bad for my wife and rambunctious 2 year old. Got a 4th floor corner King, bed was very comfy, clean room as well as bath(pictures posted at realhotelphotos.com). Bathroom of nice size. They have a decent fitness center and indoor pool and jacuzzi and free business center which were nice to use. They had a microwave on one of floors which made warming milk for my kid easy. Small things like that can really make a stay much more enjoyable. Didnt really eat at the adjacent restaurant but a quick tour of the rest of the place looked like it was well maintained. If I was not going to all the ethnic restaurants in North Chicago I might have tried it. In closing, I would recommend this hotel and it deserves it 3* rating and I got a great deal at 32/night. I wouldn't mind paying even more for it. :)
  23. Got back from my trip last week and it was a blast... blast of cold artic air... but generally a good time. Anyways I digress... the Sheraton was actually quite nice. 24. Wow this site just keeps getting more informative and useful. Real hotel photos! What a great idea. I will definately take a few pictueres of the places. I will make sure I am not in any so no one has to see my ugly mug :) I will see if I have some from my previous visits. Keep up the good work.
