  1. The amenities listed were exactly the same as what's in your Hotwire Hotel List for this zone: Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Complimentary Breakfast, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Golf, Tennis, Free Parking, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower Travelocity shows $179 for this same hotel for the same night - a real bargain! I used the HOTWIRE link at the top.
  2. Has been a very interesting past week....I have been checking the pricing on a more or less daily basis on Dollar and Thrifty. Last Thursday 1 week before my trip they both offered a City Special of $208 per week on a mid-size, so I immediately rebooked at that rate. Regular price was $431.99 per week, worked out to 52% savings. The next day, the City Special prices went up again. Also tried bidding $25 for the last 4 days on PL on mid-size. No point going higher than that. All have failed. So I have a guaranteed price now of $29.71 per day - all-in price of $280.87 for week, $40.12 per day. No coupons, no corporate ID, no successful bid on PL, and still better than the best corporate ID I could find on the Net. My conclusion from all this is that bidding for rental cars is completely hit and miss, requiring a lot of effort if you really want the best deal.
  3. Good advice. I have made my backup reservation using the coupons etc. Now I just have to wait and see if I can get any last minute deals......
  4. Did more checking... best deal now on the Internet is $33 per day, 43.93 all-in per day ($307.51/wk). Applies to both Dollar and Thrifty. Mid-size vehicle.
  5. So far, the best rate with a discount code and a coupon, I can get a standard size car at Alamo for $57.13 per day and $71.68 per day including taxes etc directly from the Alamo website.
  6. Used PRICELINE link above. First bid: $18, mid-size - rejected. Second (since another poster was successful for almost the same time period): $20, standard - rejected! Hmmm.....
  7. That's correct - no children's activities icon - I copied and pasted directly from the hotel amenities popup window. I would have been happy with either choice - they both had good reviews. Looking forward to this trip!
  8. Successful on first bid. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $45.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $45.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $13.83 (USD) Total Room Cost: $58.83 (USD) Used PRICELINE link at top of web page.

  10. Re-bid next day: - $50 - Calgary South only - failed - $55 - lowered star rating to 2-1/2 - failed - $60 - added Calgary North - failed - $65 - added Airdrie - success Summary: 2-1/2*, Aug 17 to 19, Calgary South, Holiday Inn Calgary MacLeod Trail, $65 per night
  11. Unsuccessful bids today: $40 for 3* - Calgary South $45 for 3* - added Calgary North $40 for 2-1/2* - Calgary South and North $45 for 2-1/2* - added Airdrie Does anybody know what hotels/motels are in the 2* and 2-1/2* category?
  12. I'm still bidding. I still have a little over a week left so there's lots of time. I'm not really worried (yet??) because Hotwire, Canmore (looks like $65 for Radisson is very likely), and even Expedia are my fallback plans.
  13. I just put in a bid on PL @ $85 on 3* in Banff region only for 2 nights Aug 15 - 17. Failed.
  14. First bid: $45, rejected. Priceline counter-offered at $58. Waited to next day, then second bid: $50. Priceline counter-offered again to $64. Hmmmm Took a free rebid by adding Yakima. Accepted at $55. Used the PRICELINE link at the top of the page.
  15. First bid: $50 rejected, Priceline counter-offered $64. I had time available so I declined. Second bid: $55 rejected. Used PRICELINE link at top of page.
