  1. Used better bidding HOTWIRE link to land the Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort on Hotwire for $82/night. Stay is from 12/11/12 to 12/14/12. Very pleased with the score! Amenities: Resort Beachfront Property Oceanfront Property Casino Airport Shuttle Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services Children's Activity Program
  2. I successfully bid for a 4* resort on St. John in the US Virgin Islands for $185/night. My stay will be between 5/23/09 and 5/29/09. $185 was my first bid and it was immediately accepted. I think there is a $40/night resort fee that I will be charged when I arrive based on what I've read on the Starwood site. As I understand it, there are only 2 hotels on St. John, so I figured that I was bidding on the Westin (Caneel Bay resort is more than 4 stars, I think). Hotwire had a 4* hotel on St. John for $219 (also presumably the Westin), so I tried a discount to that Hotwire rate and was successful. I'm very pleased with this rate, as the lowest price through Starwood's website is currently $329/night (not including resort fee).
  3. Purchased a 3 night stay at a 3.5* hotel in the White house/Capitol Hill area for $89/night. I thought it would be the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill, but it turned out to be the Liaison Hotel Capitol Hill (an Affinia Hotel). Amenities were fitness center, restaurant, pool, business center, high speed internet. From the photos, it looks like this is a pretty nice place and it's only a block from the hotel I thought I was getting, so I'm pleased. I was especially pleased when I saw what rates are offered on the Affinia website for this hotel. For the dates I'm staying, the best available rates (non-refundable) are $161, $187 and $187 for each of the nights I'll be there. Tripadvisor says that there might be ongoing construction, so hopefully it won't be really noisy.
  4. I am looking at a hotel for 8/16-8/19 on Hotwire. The rate is $92 for a 3.5* hotel in the White House/Capitol Hill area. Amenities are fitness center, restaurant, pool, business center, high speed internet. It looks like this might be the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill. Any other guesses as to its identity? Thanks in advance!
  5. Hotel amenities: Smoke free rooms, complimentary breakfast, pool, restaurant I was surprised (and a little disappointed because the photos don't look very nice) to find out that I would be staying at the Best Western after doing some research on this site before my purchase (I did link to HOTWIRE when I purchased from here since I appreciated the help). I was hoping it would have been the Wingate or the Hampton, but I figured that it wasn't the Hampton because that hotel didn't appear to be smoke free. It looks like the best rate on the Best Western website is $79.95 for 7/3/08 (fully refundable) or $71.96 (14 day advance purchase, not refundable), so Hotwire yielded essentially no savings by booking through them for this stay. I'm hoping that it is nicer than the pictures. The good news is that it has free breakfast, is in a good location (near Lambeau), and I'm only staying there the night as I'm passing through, so I'm not going to spend a lot of time there.
