  1. I know you asked specifically for ThereuAre's advice but I just had to chime in as a member of the Nut Gallery! I've tried to leave cash deposits at check-in before and the hotels just don't go for it. I now make some incidential purchases charging them to our room so they have to show up on the bill at checkout. Often times I find that pre-paid Priceline stays just don't get receipts and this help to pindown problems. The front desk staff says no charges no receipt! I've had my fill of double hotel billings that have showed up later! In fact, we just spent a week in Vegas and I checked on the bills for our rooms at the front desk every other days to catch things before they have too old or out of hand. Glad I did because there was some wrong billings! I hold on to the hotel checkout receipts and watch my charge card billing online closely. What are some other things that other folks do? :)
  2. Congratulations, you got your price of $27 for a 2-star hotel room. This is by far the best of the 2! :)
  3. Thanks! You are so smart! You continue to make this fabulous Board so much fun! Does DD Price Guarantee include taxes & fees? The terms & conditions really don't say, right? Thanks again! :)
  4. Hotwire--Customer Favorite! 2.5 Stars Downtown Fort Lauderdale $141 Suite, Pool, Fitness Ctr, Comp B'fast, Kitchnette, Business Ctr, Laundry :) Tks for the feedback!
  5. Oh! 4th of July weekend in Vegas!! Now that's a $50 Tip, I'm sure. Since this is a special occasion do tell the check-in staff this and ask for some special considerations as you hand over the $50 bill! Dress nicely and have a big smile! :)
  6. Glad you asked! This is a very busy area around the airport with the usual fast food spots and several Malls and such w/in driving distance. I flew TED on one leg of my trip and found that SONG had the upperhand! :)
  7. This LQ picks up the taxi tab if their shuttle is busy! This LQ understands true Customer Service. WOW! What a find! :)
  8. My family recently did an extensive walk-thru and said this is an unbelievable hotel with fabulous rooms, but the lobby area is so busy! :)
  9. We tipped at the LAX hotel and got a Junior Suite. He even was nice enough to enter in the reservation the very same suite when we return thru LAX. Yes, he was the Manager On Duty! Then a nice tip got us super upgraded roomS for a week here in Vegas. My In-Laws are blown away with their room and the view!! NOW these are real points in life. Even the TODAY IN LAS VEGAS magazine says it is appropriate to tip the Front Desk Personnel! :)
  10. Thanks for the clarification, but isn't it quite unusual for a Hotwire deal to be more than the standard rack rate on the Amerisuite Suites' website? I guess we might never know! I don't follow Hotwire deals that much. I concentrate on Priceline. Tks!
  11. I'm now glad you did not do it because I just realized that there is another Suites hotel in DT Ft. L! It is the Comfort Suites that is near the Amerisuites Suites! I recall seeing it as we drove to the Am. Suites! :)
  12. JACKPOT! This is perhaps the finest and cleanest 2* LQ I have ever stayed in. I am presently there (large room) and will fly out tomorrow a.m. for LAX. Meeting my family that is coming in from Okinawa Japan and then on to Vegas for a family reunion. For $27 ($36.36 total) it can't be beat. Free roundtrip airport shuttle, nice but hi carb b'fast and FREE CAR PARKING FOR THE 10 DAYS THAT I WILL BE GONE (a $70 value!!) are real pluses. This fits me to a tee when I travel alone. Now when traveling with my family I almost always try for a 2.5 or 3* hotel for us. :) Oh, I forgot to mention--FREE HI-SPEED INTERNET ACCESS!!
  13. This is horrible! I hope you make them pay and big! They can't be allowed to get away with such a stunt. This could have easily been me or another Priceliner! Hold their feet to the fire!! Plz keep us posted on how things develop. :)
  14. Stan, Fairfield Inns are pretty standard throughout the country. Family and friends stay at FIs a lot and find them simple, clean and comfortable with a nice hi-carb b'fast buffet & FREE local calls for dialup access. We almost always call the hotel ahead of time and make our request for preferences. Anytime you can get a 2* hotel for $25, you got a great deal! Let us know after your stay what you think of this hotel. :)
  15. I like your bidding strategy! You hit the nail on the head. :)
  16. Did you happen to notice if this hotel allows guests to park their cars for up to 2 weeks like so many hotels in the airport area do? Thanks! :)
  17. I'LL DO IT WHEN OUR CRUISE DATES ARE FIRM!! THIS DEAL IS JUST TOO GOOD TO PASS UP!! So do it and let us know! :)
  18. Friend! The Amerisuites' website is showing only $119.99 (standard rate) for 26 June 04! And even a gov't rate of $69! You might be looking at the Embassy Suites for $133 since the ES is coming up on TravelAxe for $139.99. :)
  19. Glad you asked! We got the Amerisuites back in Aug 03 pre-cruise. I don't recall seeing it come up again since. Here is my post. Do take a look at the entire thread. Hope it helps and do let us know how things develop. I too am curious to see if this Amerisuites pops up again because we are planning another cruise. :) You got your price of $40 for a 2
  20. Don't be nervous about paying for a hotel room 6 months in advance! You have already paid for it! Your charge card has already been hit by PL for your stay. I usually contact the hotel directly shortly after my offer has been accepted by PL. I ask them kindly to input in the room record our preferences. I've been lucky and got what we wanted. Good luck! :)
  21. Go back and double-check. I believe you will see that the Bay Bridge area has only up to a 2* hotel rating. So that will be a FREE re-bid for a 2.5* at JFK. Try the mid-$50 to $60 range and see if the Courtyard pops up! BUT THE RAMADA COULD POP UP INSTEAD! There is no way you can avoid the Ramada! You have a little bit of time (9 Apr) to bid this so have some fun and find the lowest acceptable PL price! :) Good luck and let us know how it goes!
  22. Oh, this is the ATL South Fairfield Inn. There is also an ATL North Fairfield Inn. :)
