  1. bid failed on $50. got accepted on 2.5* for $52 plus tax. beware that they charge additional $10+/night for parking.
  2. Hello mrs4evr, Here is how I would do: note: if they give you a counter offer like for adding $11 to your current bid, it means that you are getting very close to accepting bid, so don't take it (my2cents). 1. If you preferred zone 10 only and no where else, try this sequence of bidding: a. select 4* bid for $57, and if it fails b. select 3.5* bid again for $58, and if it fails c. select 3* bid again for $59, and if it fails d. select 2.5* bid again for $60, and if it fails e. go for the 2* or 1* that you already had 2. If you can stay in any of the following zones: 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, 15, try this sequence of bidding instead: (note: by following this sequence of bidding, you probably would get an accepting bid for 3* at zone 15 or 11) a. select zone 15 only and 3*, then bid for $44. if it fails b. add zone 11, and bid again for $46, and if it fails c. change to 2.5* and bid again for $48, and if it fails d. add zone 10, and bid again for $50, and if it fails e. add zone 4, and bid again for $52, and if it fails f. add zone 5, and bid again for $54, and if it fails g. add zone 6, and bid again for $56, and if it fails h. add zone 7, and bid again for $58, and if it fails i. add zone 14, and bid again for $60, and if it fails j. go for the 2* or 1* that you already had Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

  8. La Jolla, is a nice place to be. You can use HOTWIRE to check for prices. You usually can get a little bit less than Hotwire with priceline.com after fees. When you finally got, to the front desk of a hotel, in July. Don't forget to mention that this is for a special occasion, and they might give you a free upgrade. Have a good one.

  11. Those rooms at the end of the hall-ways are rectangler rooms, which has few extra windows. They even have windows in the restroom. I personally like those rooms better. You can request for it without extra charge.
  12. It is a tall building locates, right next to an Asian shopping center (Milpitas Squares), next to freeway 880 and 237. The main entrance at the front is the restaurant, and the side entrance on the left is the hotel entrance. There is free parking, and I notice there are some parking spaces reserved for Hertz car rentals. There are 2 elevators which can access all 12 floors. The third floor has the fitness center and the out door swimming poor + a hot tub next to it. There is a sauna room and 2 restrooms inside of the fitness center. The top floor is a special floor where requires a special key access on the elevator. The room is clean and quality 3* room. I notice there was a small package on the bed which contained an eye mask, ear plug, liner spray, and a sleep audio CD. There is a CD player next to the bed. This little package makes it stands out compares to many other 3* hotels I stayed in. They really try to make sure that I get a good sleep during the staying. They charge for local and 800 number calls. No newspaper in the morning, but maybe they are at the lobby. I would give this hotel a B+ for my comfortable experience. 15. It is right next to highway 75, which is very convenient. It is a nice 3 stories building with parking lot, one indoor bar, one indoor restaurant, one indoor area (for weddings and business conference), not friendly front desk (maybe its because I asked too many questions), one swimming pool and a hot tub, and a bit beat-up elevator. The first floor (ground floor) has some rooms facing the swimming pool, which can walk out directly to the pool from the room. It might be an advantage to stay in those rooms. It is a regular 3 stars hotel experience with some negative attributes. No hair conditioner, fee for local calls, and no free movie channel. The carpet is a bit unclean and a some what small restroom. The restroom lock not working when closed. Air conditioning is either on or off. The fan is on 100% of the time if it is turned on, and cool air comes out depends on the adjusting knob. 2 Shuttles can take you to places to shop and eat, but they wouldn't take you to the airport. AVIS car rental is a block or 2 away. I would give this hotel a C+ for a 3 star hotel.

  17. My friend just came back from Vegas. It was one of those special times of the year where all hotels are full and only $400 to $600 rooms available. They could find and affordable room, so they bet on their luck and look for a room after they are there. Hold and below, they went to El Cortez Hotel And Casino and stayed for $50 on Saturday night. It is an ok price for regular days, but for that night, it was boiling hot. My other friend stayed in a motel for the same night for more then $100 a night. You can figure the price and quality when opposite directions. In conclusion, if you couldn't find any good deal online, just wait until you get there and get a room in a Casino for a reasonable price.
  18. First thing noticed, NO PARKING! They reserved their parking lot for Valet Parking, which costs $19 per day. One can use the Valet Parking at the restaurant across the street for around $15 per day. Another choice is to use other Parking lot (one block from the hotel) for $5 per day, and free for weekends and evening (6pm to 6am). The hotel is around 22 story tower with an outdoor swimming pool and an hot tub. There is a mini indoor fitness center, include restrooms, next to the pool. Both could be accessed by the room card key (free of charge). The room has a sliding bathroom door, with no lock. The room is kind of pack with usual things: One king size bed w/6 pillows, 2 pieces desk, one rolling chair, a mini sofa w/ a foot piece, and a mini safe underneath the TV. They have internet access with service charge. In my room, I could hear people walking and talking from the hall-ways, flushing toilet sounds from other rooms, and running water sounds between the walls. I noticed the rooms at the end of the hall-ways have an extra room and door at the entrance. Those rooms at the end stands-out compare to others. Those rooms may cost more, and I am not sure. One can share the experience if they requested those rooms. They deliver 2 newspaper daily at around 4:00am: USA Today and Mercury News. For the Mercury News, it stated that it is included for the room. One may requested at the front desk to remove the Mercury News service, and you will get 10 cents refund for daily and 25 cents refund for Sunday. It was a usual 3* hotel experience for $35 per night. My only disappointment is the parking.
