  1. Bid $50 for O'hare Airport South. They offered me a same-criteria rebid for $9 more. I declined and added O'Hare Airport North as a rebid zone, Bid $55 and won! Checked out their website and they just completed a $64 million dollar renovation which looks great; best rate available on their site for this date was $129.
  2. I'd recommend O'hare and then you can either cab it over to the stadium or go to transitchicago.com and take public transportation....
  3. I was trying to get the Baymont Inn, but I don't believe I've seen a win for the BW yet so they must be new to PRICELINE. First Bid - 2* $41 Winner (We'll see...)
  4. I've stayed at this Wingate before and was very pleased. So I was bidding trying to get this hotel again. It is literally RIGHT off the exit for the Ohio Turnpike. I would compare it to some of the 3*s I've stayed in. Bid 2.5* for Aurora-Streetsboro - $38 rejected (I was offered the option to raise my bid by $11 for a re-bid with the same criteria; declined it) Added the Macedonia-Twinsburg-Stow Area - $41 WINNER!
  5. My buddy came down from NY because we got last minute Phillies tix. Usually I would expect to get even a better rate, however this was the night of a UFC event at Wachovia. All the hotels seemed pretty full, and the city was buzzing. I started at 4* trying to get the Hyatt Regency at Penn's Landing. 4* Downtown only - $71 rejected Added University - $77 rejected Added City Line - $81 rejeced Added Gloucester - $87 rejected Added Trevose - $93 rejected Started Over with 3.5* 3.5* Downtown only - $67 rejected Added City Line - $71 rejected Added Glucester- $77 rejected Added Trevose - $81 rejected Started Over with 3* 3* Downtown only - $71 WINNER. The hotel was in a GREAT location. Very convenient for going out and an entrance to the Broad street line is just around the corner; Perfect for events at the Sports Complex. The room/hotel was much nicer than I anticipated for a Courtyard. Very comfortable beds, cold A/C, and great wait staff. Parking is an issue as it is RIGHT downtown (faces City Hall); however I did find a self park lot a block away (between 13th and 14th on Arch) that is only $24/night compared to the $31 the hotel tries to charge ($41 for valet). I may just have found a new favorite downtown Philly hotel.......
  6. I guess I was going through the original post too fast; we actually got the Palmer House Hilton. Very close to the Hyatt but a little more character. Sorry BetterBidding folks.
  7. Thanks to all the better bidders out there for their posts. For those who don't know these dates are the Monday-Tuesday after Lollapalooza AND the Phillies come in town (this is very close to a Red Line Stop if you're going to the game). If you're still looking for a place for any of these games, don't waste your time trying to pay for the crappy places in Wrigleyville (Lincoln Park); BELIEVE ME! Saw 4-5 wins for this hotel at $62. Bid 4* Millenium-Loop-Grant Park First Bid $60 rejected Added River North Bid $62 WINNER! Lowest rate I could find on their website for the same dates was $199! Thanks again to everyone for their posts, this was one of the most surefire wins I've had. GO PHILS!
  8. I had to take a last minute road trip down to Charleston, SC for the weekend, and picked Rocky Mount as a good place to stop. There was absolutely nothing on Priceline or Hotwire for this area. I saw a 3* on Hotwire for $60, so used that as a benchmark. Bid 3* (highest avail) for $41 - rejected Added 2.5* for $45 - WINNER. At first I was a little worried about the Holiday Inn, but I checked out the website and this appears to be one of the "new" Holiday Inn's that is completely renovated; looks pretty decent. I'm guessing that this is the 3* on Hotwire (they are usually rated a little higher than PL).
  9. So..... I've been trying since Monday to get a room on the Super Cheap in Indy. I only was willing to stay in Downtown area, so these are all for Indianapolis - Downtown Monday 4* - $39 - Rejected 3.5* - $35- Rejected 3* - $31 - Rejected 2.5* - $25 - Rejected Tuesday 4* $41 - Rejected 3.5* - $37 - Rejected 3* - $35 - Rejected 2.5* - $33 - Rejected Wednesday 4* - $43 - Rejected 3.5* - $39 - Rejected 3* - $39 - Rejected 2.5* - $31 - Rejected Today 4* - $47 - Winner. This Hotel is in a GREAT location, so it should make for an enjoyable trip. Don't forget to use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on this page!
  10. Most of the formerly Boutique Hotels in NYC have smallish rooms. I've stayed here on 2 occasions and have been more than pleased with the accommodations. The king sized beds are huge and VERY comfortable, but yes the bathroom is pretty small and there is very little "common area". Good location and a GREAT hotel bar. Enjoy your stay!
  11. Has anyone seen any deals on the newly opened W in Hoboken yet? I doubt they're on Priceline or Hotwire yet??? Any help or tips would be appreciated. Thanks!
  12. I tried extending the stay 2 more days on a previous PRICELINE win for the La Quinta Inn. This was not accepted. There isn't much history for this market, but the 2* on HOTWIRE looked comparable to the La Quinta we already had, so I gave it a whirl. This hotel features the following amenities: Complimentary Breakfast <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Pool(s) Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal. Laundry Facilities <amenity names only please... not descriptions> High-speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. Golf Nearby Property is located within walking distance or a short drive of at least one golf course; an extra charge typically applies. Tennis Nearby Property is located within walking distance or a short drive of at least one tennis court; an extra charge typically applies. Not the La Quinta, but $2/night cheaper even than PRICELINE. Our rep will have to switch hotels, but he's okay with it; we'll just take care of him for the weekend somewhere! Don't forget to use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on this page to book your travel.
  13. My buddy got a late start on his drive from Charlotte, NC to Hoboken, NJ so he needed some help gettin a room last minute. We looked at the map and for some reason decided Lexington, VA was a good place to stop. I highly recommended stopping 45 mins earlier in Roanoke or 1 hr later in Harrisonburg, but no; he wanted to drive 4 hrs tonight. The only bid for this area ironically is for starting tonight through Sunday. It was the 2*HoJo for $64 so.... Bid 2* Lexington $64 rejected Added 1* bid $71 Winner (I guess) This is a previously un-pinned hotel list so please add to the list. That's what my buddy gets for not heeding my advice. The website doesn't look too bad as long as the pictures aren't too dated. I know I've stayed in worse; he'll only be there for 5-6 hrs of sleep so we'll see.
  14. I always use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links at the top of the page for booking (sometimes multiple times), just like I'm about to do now!
  15. There isn't much history for College Station on here, so I was kinda guessing around. There was a 2* on Hotwire for $57 so that gave me a benchmark. Orbitz had prices all across the board for the given date range. I actually needed a room for 4/20/09- 4/24/09 but.... Bid 3* in College Station for $50 4/20/09-4/24/09 rejected Bid 2.5* n College Station for $50 4/20/09-4/24/09 rejected Bid 2.5* in College Station for $55 4/20/09-4/22/09 rejected Added 2* for $50 4/20/09-4/22/09 WINNER!!! Want my employee to check out the hotel, and if everything is okay we will extend the nights.
  16. We stayed here less than a month ago. Great hotel. Great Location! Got it for $71 last time, so didn't want to mess around. Bid 4*, Jersey City only, $71. WINNER! i think this may have been a 3.5* previously, but it's now a 4* and meets the standards as far as I'm concerned. DON'T FORGET TO USE THE LINKS TO BID.
  17. We got last minute tickets for the 'Nova vs. Duke game (pitt vs xavier too, but who cares). We were able to get some pretty cheap last minute flights and to my surprise no problem getting a room in downtown. I had stayed down here last year in a 3* for $95, but I guess there is 1 great thing about this economy; Great Hotel Rates! I saw a few wins for this hotel at this rate, and it was a great enough deal that I didn't try and get cute to get it lower. Although given more time, I would recommend it. First Bid 4* Qunicy-Faneuil-Financial $61....WINNER!!!! I checked the hotel's website, Travelocity, Orbitz and Hotels.com and the lowest rate I could find was $239 for the same night. $239!!! Only on Priceline; thanks board! Now if 'Nova can follow suit we'll be on our way to Detroit.
  18. I've won this hotel before for anywhere from $45-$55. It's great because it's very close to our office. I believe it actually is a 2.5*, but definitely nicer than most 2*'s. I saw a 3* in West Chester on Hotwire for $52, so I decided to start out at $40. First bid 2*, West Chester-Concordville, $40 . Winner. Now I'm mad that I didn't start out lower, but this is the hotel we want and it's a decent rate.
  19. Driving back to Chicago for a wedding; instead of taking my chances of finding a dive when I get tired on the way, I decided to roll the dice with PRICELINE. I was torn between Pittsburg and Akron; decided to try Akron first. Checked out Hotwire and there was a 2.5* for $52, so had that to fall back on. The Aurora-Streetsboro zone straddles the OH turnpike. First Bid $40 - rejected Added Macedonia - Twinsburg - Stow; which also straddles the Turnpike but has a risk of being further off the exit. Bid $45 - WINNER! Less than a mile off of the Turnpike! Now I don't to drive around to the roach motels and try negotiating with the night manager. Last trip I took, I ended up paying $48 for what is considered a 1* (although that was a stretch). Now I know exactly where I'm going. Don't forget to use the links here to SAVE money using PRICELINE.
  20. To be honest I can't say I remember. I don't ever take housekeeping wherever I stay (i hate the way they make the bed), so I wouldn't really know. I believe they DO NOT clean daily; only as requested.
  21. Didn't see a single win on the board for this area, and there were not any Hotwire rooms available for this area. So hopefully this will give us a benchmark. Downtown would be the best alternative if you are doing business at UCF and can't get a win on PL for the East zone; however the commute back and forth can be time consuming. I didn't get too creative on this one, because a 2.5* is the highest available rating in the East zone. First Bid 2.5* bid $40. Rejected. Second Bid Added 2* and went up to $45. Winner. For those not familiar with the Brand. I've stayed at a Crestwood Suites in TN, and they are great for extended stays. Kitchenette and a Couch! ***Side note. There are some CRAZY insane deals for Disney Area on Hotwire (and I'm sure PL). So now's a better time than ever to do Disney on the cheap while they are struggling to get people at the park. DON'T FORGET TO USE THE PRICELINE and HOTWIRE LINKS AT THE TOP TO SAVE SAVE SAVE!
  22. $70 in NYC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you freaking kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My buddy and I decided to take a last minute trip up to the city for a show. We were just going to crash at a friend's place but decided to try a low-ball offer. I saw the $85 winning bid so we got kooky and started at $60 for a 3.5*. I can't recall all of the bids, because we added basically every zone below the park and kept going up $1. At $67 we added 3* and $70 was the winner. Not sure why this is a 3*, I guess it just got transferred over with all the boutiques. FANTASTIC beds, but otherwise very dated. Does have a cool artistic lobby. Great location! Our room was scorching hot and we could not find a thermostat anywhere; only after being hot all night did we realize in the morning that the heater has an old school valve to turn up/down. Oh, by the way I parked my car over in Hoboken for free and took the PATH train over and cabbed it up from the 33rd st station. Fairly easy trip, but maybe not recommended if you are bringing lots of stuff. I may have paid almost as much in tolls and parking as we did the room!
  23. Oops. Yes. It is the Doubletree Guest Suites on Soldiers Field Road.
  24. Bid $50 yesterday; denied. Added Copley for $55; no dice. $60 today for Cambridge only. WINNER! Great hotel (and really close to our office). Don't forget to use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links at the top of the page....
