  1. Bid $70.00 on a 2.5* hotel in Pittsburg Kansas for tomorrow night, November 18th. I was denied, I added Carthage and upped my bid to $76.00 and was awarded: Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Pittsburg Pittsburg, KS 4011 Parkview Drive Pittsburg, Kansas 66762 Kind of expensive for Pittsburg Kansas, but it sure does beat the Super 8 where I normally stay! Used the PRICELINE link on this page...thanks!
  2. Just bid $43.00 on a 3* hotel in Topeka Kansas for tonight, October 8th. Came up with that price because of other bids that were accepted that I read about on here in Topeka. I was awarded a room for the price listed above at: Hyatt Place Topeka 6021 Sw 6th Avenue Topeka, Kansas 66615 Thanks, G
  3. $68.00 bid on 3* hotel in Manhattan Kansas for Wednesday, October 7th....was accepted. Holiday Inn Manhattan at Campus Hotel 1641 Anderson Avenue Manhattan, KS 66502 Very nice hotel, very happy with this, there is a nice restaurant/bar (Houlihans) connected to it. Sorry I was a day late getting this posted
  4. Just awarded a room at the following hotel for Wednesday night, November 19th....for one night. Quality Inn Manhattan 150 East Poyntz Avenue Manhattan, Kansas 66502 Bid for 2.5* at $67.00....got denied Bid for 2* at $64.00....won this bid. Thanks
  5. Just for the heck of it I tried to bid on a 4* hotel in downtown KC....I tried $50-rejected, added a zone and tried $54-rejected, added a zone and tried $57-rejected, then finally tried $60 and it was rejected. I then switched to the Overland Park area and tried a 3* hotel.....there are several rebid zones on the 3* level....I went ahead and started my bidding at $48.00 and planned to go up in $2.00 intervals up to $64.00. Well, the first bid was accepted..... Radisson Lenexa 12601 West 95th Street Lenexa, Kansas 66215 I got this hotel at the price listed above for two nights (8/27 and 8/28). I've stayed here before, it is a nice hotel! Very happy with this deal! I used the PRICELINE link on this website to get this deal! Thanks, Grant
  6. I just got accepted for a 2* hotel in Topeka Kansas for August 21st...checking out the 22nd. I bid $63.00 on a 3* and was denied...I then bid $63.00 on a 2 1/2* and was denied....I then dropped down to a 2* and bid $50.00 and the bid was accepted. Fairfield Inn Topeka Topeka 1530 Southwest Westport Drive Topeka, Kansas 66604 I thought Fairfield Inn's were higher up than 2* hotels....I'm happy with this. I used the PRICELINE link on this site to get this hotel! Grant
  7. Sorry about that, this is for tomorrow night...August 20th. Thanks, Grant
  8. I tried to bid $60 for 2.5* and was rejected....there are no bid zones so I kept the same price of $60.00 and bid on a 2* hotel and it was accepted. Quality Inn Manhattan 150 East Poyntz Avenue Manhattan, Kansas 66502 I probably bid too high on this since with my AAA card I can get a rate cheaper through the actual website....but I was fearful of the alternative (Super 8) of where I usually have to stay when in Manhattan per company policy....since there were no rebid zones I didn't lower my 2* bid from my 2.5* rebid. Anyway, at least I have a bar next time for Manhattan...there isn't much information on this site for Kansas hotels......I guess nobody wants to come here...ha ha I did use the PRICELINE link from this site to get the deal...thank you. Grant
  9. Yes....I am sorry, I won the above hotel on the night of the 6th....I won it the same day of my stay. Not sure if my wife used this link for tonights hotel stay, which is also in Austin, I tried to talk her through it over the phone. Anyway, I won two rooms for $58.00 a room at the 2.5* Staybridge Suites in Round Rock Texas....That is where I'm currently at :)
  10. Just tried for two rooms in Austin Texas....3* North Austin for $50.00, it was denied, there was only one other rebid zone for 3* (SW) so I added that and went ahead and upped my offer to $60.00 a night and it was accepted. I used the PRICELINE link on this website! Thanks. Doubletree Hotel Austin 6505 Interstate Hwy 35 North Austin, Texas 78752 Grant
  11. I'm going to Tulsa next week for business....arriving Monday June 30th, checking out July 2nd. I needed one room so I used the PRICELINE link to this site and tried $48.00 on my first bid in the Southwest Tulsa Broken Arrow zone....I was bidding on 3*. That bid was rejected, I added rebid zone midtown and upped my offer to $56.00, that was denied as well so I added rebid zone Sand Springs and upped my offer to $64.00 and was accepted at the Radisson Hotel Tulsa. The address is 10918 East 41st Street, Tulsa OK....74146. Another successful bidding event for me since finding this site! I love it...thank you!
  12. I also got this same exact deal as this Priceline Win for this Friday, June 20th. We are taking our three kids up to KC for the Royals game and decided to just stay the night....I checked out this website and saw what some rooms were going for...I first tried $50...got denied, then tried $55 with the addition of the Plaza zone (which is a rebid zone) and I was accepted at the same hotel (Hyatt). I called up there and they changed my King bed to double beds so we have more room, they were very helpful. Thanks again for helping me get a good deal....I did use the link to PRICELINE on this site to win this room! Thanks again, Grant
  13. This sucks...ha ha. I have loved this site because we usually have to stay in Super 8's for our business, well I have been able to find great deals on Priceline and/or hotwire to avoid Super 8's! I tried Priceline today for Manhattan Kansas....5/28 and checking out 5/29...I tried 2.5* at $55.00 and then 2.0* at $50.00 and both were denied. I then found a 2* hotel on hotwire for $64.00 and I booked it.....it was SUPER 8!!!! Since when is a Super 8 a 2* hotel, I have never seen any of them listed any higher then a 1* and justifiably so! Anyway, I was accepted for the Super 8 in Manhattan Kansas.....for the night of 5/28 (tomorrow). Oh well.... :) Grant
  14. I tried for two rooms on June 3rd (night before we leave for our vacation) at the Kansas City Airport. KC has a ton of rebid zones in both the 3* and 2.5* categories. I first tried for a 3* starting at $30 and going up in $3 incriments up to $45.00 (didn't use all the rebid zones available but $45 was my cap). I then went to 2.5 stars and started at $30 again. Was accepted for $39.00 a night. This is a really good deal. My only complaint is I called the hotel directly and asked if we could leave our two cars, take their airport shuttle, and pay extra, they said since it is through Priceline that parking is not available at their hotel for us (other than the night we are staying there of course). Oh well... Hyatt Place Kansas City Airport 7600 Nw 97th Terrace Kansas City, Missouri 64153 Pretty excited, we got two rooms for this night at a nice hotel for under $100.00 after taxes. If it wasn't for this website and learning this strategy this wouldn't have happened. I used the PRICELINE link on this site to win this! Thank you! Grant
  15. I tried bidding in the Medical Center area.....2.5*...tried $40, $45, $50, $55...all denied. So I then went to downtown and went ahead and started my bidding at $55.00 for a 2.5* because it is getting close and I wanted to start high with my high bid being $70 for a 2.5 star...got accepted on the first try for $55.00 a night for two nights (5/13 and 5/14) for two rooms. Holiday Inn San Antonio Downtown I'll take it....it is centrally located and for $55.00 a night that seems like a good deal! I used the PRICELINE links on here to get the rooms...thanks for all your help! Grant
  16. This is just a business trip so I'm not really looking for any nightlife or anything like that. I just want a comfortable place to stay and through work we are supposed to stay right around $70-$75 a night before taxes. Most of our days will be in the Medical Center area and there are a couple places close to downtown that we will be going to. At night my co-worker and I will be going to dinner somewhere nice down there with a customer...then the next night I will probably try to find a sports bar to go watch some baseball. So nothing major, just a nice, clean place to sleep at night in a decent area. If I need to drop down to 2 1/2 or 3 star I have no problem doing that. For a while our company had a Super 8 policy...I'm just thrilled that I can use priceline to get better hotels at decent pricing so I can stay away from the dreadful super 8's :)
  17. No, I haven't tried the 3* downtown...should I do that? I just wanted to be in a decent part of town, I don't know San Antonio at all....I was bidding on the downtown and Northwest areas because they were the only places with 4* options so I figured they were the better locations. Medical Centers in big cities are sometimes in areas that aren't very nice....but I have no idea with San Antonio...I would take a 3* hotel in the Medical Center area I guess..I bet I could probably get a decent deal on one. How about a strategy on a 3* hotel in the Medical Center area? Thanks, Grant
  18. I tried the above strategy and was rejected on all of it...I skipped the 4* and went ahead and tried to get a 3* in the Northwest area....I bid five times (there are four rebid zones) starting at $50 and ending at $70...with no luck. I don't know much about San Antonio...I would like to find a 4* or a 3* in a good area for $75 a night if at all possible (two rooms). Can anyone give me some advice on good and bad areas of San Antonio? Most of the places I will be visiting for business are in the Medical Center area on Priceline. Does anyone know about that area? I wouldn't mind looking for a 3* in that area I think. Let me know your opinions if you would. Thanks, Grant
  19. I just tried Austin North....a 3* for $50.00 and it was accepted.....two rooms on the night of May 12th...checking out the 13th.... Radisson Hotel Austin North Looks like a nice hotel, I feel pretty good about this deal. I used the PRICELINE links on this website to win this bid! Thanks....I will try San Antonio tomorrow.... Grant
  20. Didn't work....I may have to look for 3 star in a different zone.....Thanks for trying! Grant
  21. I would like to go ahead and try the downtown area first since that is a little more centrally located.....then I'll go back and try the other zone. Thanks, Grant
  22. I am going to San Antonio with a co-worker for two nights next week, the 13th and 14th. I would like to try for a four star hotel in the downtown area...my max bid would be $75.00 per room per night. There are two areas that have 4* options....downtown riverwalk and san antonio northwest. I would prefer downtown first but will take either or. If 4* doesn't work I will then try to find a 3* hotel somewhere. Thanks, Grant
  23. Hello...I will be traveling to Austin on Monday, May 12th for one night. I will be going with a co-worker, we need two rooms. I was wanting a strategy to try and get a 4* and/or 3* hotel in downtown Austin. $70.00 per room would be our max bid....I know that is probably a longshot for a 4* hotel but I thought I'd go ahead and try first. If we can't land a 3* or 4* in downtown then I would go ahead and try for a 3* in the following areas.... 1. Austin North 2. Austin Northwest 3. Round Rock I did put them in order of where I'd like to stay first. Any help on a strategy would be much appreciated! I'm ready to start bidding! Thanks, Grant
  24. Thank you guys for all your help...theruare, thanks for the boston help. I went ahead and booked directly through a hotel today, the Roger Smith Hotel. I called them directly and explained my situation, told them that I was a AAA member...they gave me two rooms with two beds in each. This way we can be for sure that we are all in the same hotel and everyone has a bed. It did cost a little more...but in my mind it was worth it. It is in a good area and we got it for $279.00 per room per night.....they are also fully cancelable if we find something better. Thank you guys so much...I will be back on here soon to try and find rooms in San Antonio for a business trip that I'm going on the week of May 12th. I will use your links and see if you guys can help me out with a strategy. Thanks, Grant
  25. Let me ask a couple of you this....tell me your thoughts. I'm thinking about using both HOTWIRE and PRICELINE. How about I go through hotwire and look for one room in Manhattan that will accomodate four people...that way I'm guaranteed two beds. Next, once that is booked and I know the location I can get real aggressive on a Priceline hotel room and not have to worry about not getting a room that won't accomodate more than two people. I can then try to get a hotel as close to the Hotwire hotel as possible. Afterall, we don't necessarily have to sleep in the same hotel rooms...we will all be together during the day and night.... What do you guys think?
