  1. Thanks guys. Just to close the thread, we've decided to stick with our Santa Cruz hotel since we couldn't get a better deal with Hotwire/Priceline for a room that sleeps 4. L
  2. Me again... Now thinking of bidding on a room in Monterey, 4*. Is there a way of specifying that I need two beds on Priceline? We are 3 adults and 1 child. There seems to only be the 1 room, 2 rooms etc options... help please!
  3. Hey Aaron yeah, its getting a screwy... I put 3 adults/1 child from the beginning of the search than the $149 price comes up but the top listing states 2 adults. So then I change it and the price jumps to $262. I guess I'm out of luck! We can't pay that... grrrrrrr I was getting so excited that I was getting such a good deal. Too bad.
  4. Hi everyone, Having second thoughts on the hotel we booked for Santa Cruz for next week. Our hotel is refundable so I thought I would look at the next town, Monterey. Here is what I am seeing for a 4 * in Monterey. The room is for 3 adults and 1 child dates are July 27 - 30 Ammenities are: Near Beach Oceanfront Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services Can someone please help me id this hotel??? Thanks so much! Ladena
  5. I'm still trying to bid on a car with Priceline from 07/27/10-07/30/10 from SFO. The prices are just insane. I'm bidding $40/day and Priceline is telling me that if I bid $54 they will get me a car. Should I just bite the bullet and go for this deal or do you think I can still get it cheaper than $54??? thanks! L
  6. Hey guys You're right! It does say USE but I SWEAR I did not bid on USE. How could this be? Did they make a mistake? I'm ok with it but it is strange. ---> Thereuare - we're heading to NYC on the 14th of July! I'll "look" for you! :)
  7. Hey everyone! I can guarantee that I only selected USW-Nob Hill and Civic Center on this bid. I did not select USE this time around. I hear what you are all saying about the smaller room... honestly, the location is what I'm excited about. We don't spend that much time in the room we are out on the town and don't stop. It would be nice to have a king bed though... I'll let you know how it turns out. As I said, I'm still super happy with the choice. I'll let you all know how the stay turned out!
  8. YEAH!!!!!!! I'm so happy! Jumping up and down!! I got a hotel! Bid $100 for USW-Nob Hill rejected added Civic Center bid $105 was accepted by the Westin St-Francis! I'm sooooooooo pumped! The location of this hotel is prime plus, this is a great deal!! Thanks so much for all your help guys. I used the link and I hope it gets you something! I'm still trying to get my car through Priceline so stay tunned for that.
  9. Looks like the free rebid zones are: Civic Center Fisherman's Wharf Marina SFO North South SF Am I right? All these DO NOT have 4* hotels for those dates. (07/30/10-08/02/10)
  10. Hey Yeah - I am aware that I might get the Intercontinental and honestly, I think it would be hillarious! If we ended up there at a lower rate that they could even give us I would let the know! PLUS! I would be more than happy to give some commission to Hotwire/Priceline and Betterbidding at this point! If they don't want a straight booking and keep all the money and make their customers use discount websites to save then its their loss! I don't mind USE as its still in the area that I want. (US is really the area we are aiming for). I will bid again tomorrow... where to start?
  11. Hey BEAV (sorry, hadn't seen your comment til today) Nope, we dealt with the Best Price policy people first and they were giving us the run around. We were then transfered (a few days later) to Customer Relations and NEVER heard back from them. Then my BIL had luck with the manager mentioned so we thought we would try her too. We phoned and emailed and after a couple emails she never got back to us. I am shocked by their standards of customer service. I think its a shame for such a big company to have lost 3 clients like this. I am spreading the word too... they haven't only lost us!
  12. Ok, here's how its going now... This morning I tried bidding again for 3 rooms. Started with just USW-Nob Hill at $85 rejected USW-Nob Hill Added Civic Center zone bid $90 rejected Removed Civic Center add USW-Nob Hill add USE bid $95 rejected Priceline posted that if I add $15 (making the cost $115) they could get me a room. I phone my husband to confirm and he informed me that we now only need 2 rooms! WHEW! I almost went along with it. I didn't rebid because I wanted to compare Hotwire and Priceline again tonight. Since we only need 2 rooms now I might go back to getting the Hilton off Hotwire. QUESTION: when Priceline gives you a suggestion like that (the $115 deal) does that mean they actually have something for you for that price or are they just trying to get you to bid higher. Where should I start tomorrow? $100 for one zone? $115 if I add Civic Center? Thanks again everyone! L
  13. Hi again! Sorry... I can't see my last post about the same question. This morning I posted for help about re-bidding and I was sent to a great link about how to do it before 24hrs. Dates I need are 07/30/10 - 08/02/10 I would like USW-Nob Hill Yesterday I bid $80 and was rejected. I would like to bid again tonight. Going up to $90. If I get rejected I want to add a zone (with NO 4* and bid a bit higher). Here's how I understand it.... I check for areas that DON'T have 4*. If I understand it correctly, all I have to do to find these areas is look at Step 2 in the form. For example, it seems like Civic Center does NOT have 4*. So I can rebid with USW and Civic Center and would maybe get rooms in USW but not in Civic Center because CC does NOT have 4*?? I know this might seem like a stupid question and I'm sorry if it is. I just don't want to book 3 rooms for 3 different people and get caught in a zone that won't work. Can someone please confirm this for me. ******** BTW - I'm always using the betterbidding PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links... thanks!
  14. Hey So I'm reading some of the posts from people that won bids for USW-Nob Hill. I'm a bit confused. It seems that when they added other areas they still won USW-Nob Hill. I don't really want to take the chance to add an area that I don't want and end up with that area. What's the deal with this? Should I stick to constantly bidding with only the USW-Nob Hill option? thanks L
  15. Hey I'm looking for a compact. The rate I see on Hotwire ranges from $53 - $60. On the reg Priceline it can be $100/day. I bid $35 today. I don't know what to expect. I was really hoping to get something cheaper than hotwire. This car rental thing is more frustrating than hotels!! Hotels is FUN! Cars suck... why are they sooooooo expensive? L
  16. My husband and I recently tried to book 3 rooms at the InterContinental Mark Hopkins for an upcoming family wedding. We had an excellent rate on Priceline (not bidding) of $109/night for the end of July. My husband works with several hotels in the city we live in and knows that hotels hate losing extra money to third party websites. We looked up their Best Price policy and decided to book 3 rooms through the hotel directly and apply for them to adjust our price to the Priceline price. This is where the terrible customer service began. We were sent through so many channels and had to constantly explain our story to a new person. We had proof of the lower rate, dates and booked our rooms exactly the same day than the priceline deal. No matter what we did they did not want to adjust our price even though their policy is clearly written on their website. The chain ended up with us even dealing with a manager at the Mark Hopkins (Claudia). At one point through her communication with my husband she even admitted not to be clear on the BEST PRICE policy. I'm not sure how a manager could not be clear on something that is so important to the business. That,to me, is unacceptable. After being constantly sent to other people and not getting a straight answer from the people at IGH hotels we decided to cancel our reservations. We are extremely disapointed in the service we received and have no interest in ever staying in ANY IGH hotel in the future. I believe this company needs to train all their employees to understand their BEST PRICE policy or remove the information from their website and not offer it. They also need to remember that a happy customer will return and will spread the word. An unhappy customer will also do so. Stay here if you want but keep in mind that the customer service seems to be dismal and not very helpful or informed.
  17. Hi all I just started the bidding process for 3 rooms in USW from 07/31/10 - 08/02/10 today. Thought I'd keep everyone posted on my progress. I just bid $80 for a 4*. I started at this price considering that someone got the Parc55 yesterday for $85. I was rejected... will try again tomorrow! WISH ME LUCK!
  18. Thanks Colfax, I'd do the 4.5* but its still pretty pricey once you add the taxes etc. I prefer the 4* prices! LOL! I'll keep you guys posted.
  19. You guys are awesome. I've been on the forum like crazy all weekend trying to figure this out. I think I am going to start bidding on Priceline tomorrow. I see that it gives me the 3 room option AND I like the hotels ppl have been getting the last few days (4*, Hilton and Parc55). I'll let you all know how it turns out! L
  20. Hi everyone I've been bidding on PRICELINE for a car from SFO for 3 days - July 27 - July 30th. Started at $25, then $27, $28, $30 (a couple times) I know that car rental prices in SF are unreal but I'm still hoping to strike a deal. Does anyone have any advice on what to bid or what people have been paying for a car from SFO? thanks! L
  21. Thanks so much Thereuare... I will check to see if there is a fitness icon. Do you think it would be better for me to try bidding on 3 rooms on Priceline?
  22. Hi there I have to book 3 rooms for SF for July 30 - Aug 2nd. I really wanted the 4* hotels but can't get 3 rooms with them. (I need the hotels to all be the same.) There are 2 choices for 3.5* hotels. 1st one: 3.5* USE / $132 per night Boutique Hotel Fitness Center Business Center High-speed Internet Access 2nd one: 3.5* USW/$116 night Boutique Hotel Smoke Free Rooms Business Center High-speed Internet Access Can someone help me ID these? Do you think I could take the RISK and book 2 4* hotels and hope to get the same hotel again for a 3rd room??
  23. Its really best if we stay in the same hotel. (long story) Do you think more rooms come up as we get closer to the date? I keep seeing the Hilton pop up and then dissapear. I can get 3 rooms at 3.5* so maybe I will look them up and see what they are.
  24. Oh no!! That's not good about only being 2 rooms... that could cause a problem since we'd obviously like to stay at the same hotel. I'm thinking its the Parc 55. Can anyone confirm?
  25. Hi there I replied to the Hawaii thread. One more question. I need to book 3 rooms. Once I put 3 in the number of room section the hotel dissapears. Any tips on how to book 3 rooms at this price?
