  1. Started bidding at $75, added a zone went to $80, added a zone went to $85 - BAM! I also used the PRICELINE link too! Thanks!
  2. So is there anything I can do to get the non-retail rate? Based on these prices, what would be a good bidding price strategy for Priceline?
  3. These are through HOTWIRE (using the links from this site)... Which brings up another question - what is the best strategy for using hotwire prices to try and get a priceline bid?
  4. Here's what I found - note that all of these are over a weekend... Total for 5 nights 7/11-7/16 is 273.56 total Total for 6 nights 7/10-7/16 is 184.61 total (How does it work if we have the rental for the day before we arrive???) Total for 6 nights 7/11-7/17 is 278.53 total (This doesn't get us any extra) So if we could, the rental from 7/10-7/16 is the best rate, but I have no idea how it would work from the stand point of picking up...
  5. Yep - I am a clown - my dates are for july - so 7/11 to 7/16... Sorry about that...
  6. Hi, On Monday, I saw car rental deals from CLT (Charlotte airport) for a mid-size car for $26.59 on hotwire. Of course now when I go to hotwire, the price has jumped to $38.60. I really don't want to spend more than $20 on a car rental and wanted to see if I could get your help. I offered $15 on priceline on a mid-size car and was rejected so I'm not sure what kind of games I can play there either. Here is my info: Fly into CLT at 9:50pm on 6/11 Fly out of CLT at 11:25am on 6/16 Got any advice? Should I wait for prices to drop again? Will they drop again? Or am I hosed? Thanks and BTW, I used the links from better bidding to access both priceline and hotwire - Cheers - Mike PS - What is also weird, is that if I try to pick up or drop off the a day earlier or a day later, then the prices drop drammatically (back to $21.99 for a mid-size) why would the price go up if I wanted to rent the car for 5 days instead of 4 days???
  7. The last thing we need is a rental car. Is there a forum for rental cars? We are flying into and out of charlotte, NC... Thanks for all your help!
  8. Woooo-hooooo We just got our offer accepted for $105/night - really $119/night after taxes and everything... That is ~$60/night cheaper! I did use the PRICELINE links above - thank you sooooo much!
  9. Agreed - Let's try without splitting first - they have a "special" wedding rate at the hotel for that Friday and Saturday night, but it's only $179... Anyway, I am ready to pull the trigger tonight - do you have ideas on where I should start out? I have read about expanding the area while up-ing the bid in this area - are there still only 3* hotels in the primary Asheville area? I think there are. Any bidding advice you can give me is greatly appreciated. Cheers!
  10. I am a week away until I pull the trigger on my hotel for a visit to Asheville, NC. I understand that there are three 3* hotels in the Asheville area and from reading from other posts, it looks as tho my choices are realistically the Renaissance or the Crowne Plaza Resort. I am hoping that we can stike gold with the Renaissance as that is the hotel where all the wedding guests are recommended towards. The listing price for the 3* on priceline for these dates are listed as: Renaissance $209/night Doubletree $189/night Crowne Plaza Resort $156/night Check-In Date: Sun, Jul 11 2008 Check-In Time: After midnight Check-Out Date: Mon, Jul 16, 2008 Check-Out Time: 8:00 am We are hoping that we can pay at most $100, but haven't posted any bids can ya'll recommend a bidding strategy? Is looking for 5 nights going to help or hurt our chances of finding a hotel for what we want on Priceline? Any help is appreciated.
