  1. Bid 60.00 on just the anaheim disneyland south zone, no dice, bid 65.00 on disneyland south and added the north zone, still.. no dice bid 76.00 on disneyland south, north, and now added fullerton zone , got accepted! great price considering the web site is quoting 189.99 per night, i consider this a big win!!
  2. Stayed at this property 2 years ago, and liked it, although a bit of a hike from Disneyland. This time we are not going to Disneyland so it doesn't matter. To boot they did a full renovation last year so I am curious to see how that turned out Also i wanted to stay here as it is one of the few hotels in the city that have good reviews all around on yelp or Trip Advisor, and are true 4 star hotels, rather than 3 star. Bid 65.00 to start, just in Disneyland - Anaheim South - Orange - Garden Grove -got declined, its the peak of summer but a guy has to try. next off Bid 75.00 and added Laguna Beach-got declined again decided i would try one more before i just went and booked myself on a web site somewhere. using AAA rates. so i bid 81.00 and added Anaheim Hills, and low and behold , got accepted. Not incredible considering the fact I will have to pay for parking and for Wi-Fi , by the time you factor those charges in-then for the same price I may as well stayed at the Ayres Anaheim which includes free parking, wi-fi, breakfast in the mornings, snacks, and the list goes on, but .. i got caught up 2 years ago when i bid for this hotel on Pricline-i got it for if you can believe it, around 35.00 per night..Granted that was January, THIS is August :)
  3. Beings this is a busy time of the year in San Diego due to the Comic Con, 90 % of hotels are sold out, and 95% of GOOD hotels ARE sold out-so after giving up checking the sites like Expedia, etc, i bid on 2 rooms, and bid 130, 140, 150 and then 170 before i was accepted (per room =340 per night) still a bit less than the asking price on the Marriott's web site. Forgive me for not using the better bidding link -will next time i promise!!
  4. Had to check back in for one more night, as you may have noticed we won this same hotel for 46.00 on april 6-8, but since we decided to split our trip up for a couple days and go check out santa monica on the 9th and 10th, we figured if we bid the same amount a few minutes later that we just successfully won the first time at, we would be able to check back into the hilton on the 11th, just for the one night, and it paid off, we will be able to check back in on the 11th to the hilton again!same price , 46.00! success!
  5. Put in a bid for 41.00, but was really hoping for this particular hotel, out of the several that priceline may give you in this area at this star level. Got rejected, but knew i wasn't far off, so i tried 46.00 as my second offer and was accepted, i was worried id get one of the less desirable hotels in the area, this one is handy because its within walking distance if you don't mind a little hike. PS Mods: Sorry i do not remember if i used the better bidding link to PRICELINE, i hope i did -but if i forgot i am sorry , will remember next time!
  6. Yes i have tried it two times, they make it seem like they are upgrading you but the rooms are already suites. so i am not convinced you arent getting the same suite you would have had you not given the 20.00 tip to, i know for a fact i personally didnt get anything better than the basic because the 3rd time most recently i decided not to give the 20.00 tip to and i got the exact same type of room as the two times i did give a 20.00 tip to. I did check their web site and they have all kinds of bigger rooms and better rooms i never have seen yet, maybe it just depends on how full they are and who the staff member is you get when you go up, id say its worth a try, but from my experience, i thought i was upgraded those first 2 times, when in fact it is just their regular suite.
  7. Had some relatives come in from out of town ,decided we would stay at the hotel with them so their kids could play with our kids, so we booked a room next door to their room for a little get away for one day. Put in offer for 2 rooms, and got accepted on the first try(i figured this would be around the median price for this hotel, so who knows maybe i shoulda started at 40-45) charges are: US$52.00 Subtotal: US$104.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$19.54 Total Charges: US$123.54 This was the first time i ever booked 2 rooms, so i for some reason was thinking that 52.00 would be for BOTH rooms, not each but nonetheless still a good deal for this resort, it has a casino in it, and is only a couple years old. We kind of assumed we would get a door connecting the 2 rooms, but it was really not a big deal. I over heard people checking in and the lady said the rate was 189 per night, so we knew we did really well! Forgot to use better bidding link, but will next time(forgive me)
  8. :) :) I am so furious i am shaking right now, my wife and i are taking our 4 year old daughter to disneyland in early january, then after we are going to vegas for 9 nights, we have taken her to vegas before and take her to the palms kids quest while we do our thing, so today we seen on hotwire a deal for a 4 star central strip, seeing that it didnt say customer favorite, we knew it had to be either planet hollywood or paris by process of elimination which works perfect because the shuttle at paris takes us to rio, then from there we can walk to the palms, and vice versa, not to mention the rio shuttle can take you to anywhere on the strip you need(harrahs, or paris) so north and south are covered, even caesars palace i think. anyways we placed our bid , and to my dismay we got treasure island, which is completely not on any shuttle routes without walking forever, and now we will have to take a cab to the palms all the time which will probably cost 13.00 every time. not to mention countless amounts of walking if we want to go hop the shuttle at bills gamblin hall to the coast. i am very upset that it didnt say "customer favorite" and (note to mod, please remove that title from your pinned list because it ultimately cost me and my wife) and now we wont be sleeping tonight! also to add fuel to the fire we could have had the wynn for another 9.00-what is a better deal ?76.00 for TI?or 85 for Wynn? you do the math we normally stay at 5 star hotels when we go there but we thought we would sacrifice for the convenience, and now it has backfired
  9. tried my first bid of 38 , it was rejected, it offered me to raise bid by 11.00 which would have made it 49.00, i decided to go back and start again, this time for 44.00 it was accepted, that was easy. i hope this is a pleasant experience. we will be taking the 4 year old daughter to disneyland for the first time and hope her time is magical! :)
  10. :) Well, i was trying every day all week and i wont bother posting all those results or you may get bored to death I am actually staying at the venetian for 4 days next week out of comp but will be there 6 days and they dont comp sat and sunday i figured i could bid on the 5 star norths and either get venetian or palazzo and wouldnt have to go take a cab somewhere else, and preferably win the venetian so i can stay the whole 6 days at the venetian instead of having to move. if i won palazzo, id move my comp to palazzo instead so i had a 2/3 chance to get one of those 2. i also figured i could try for treasure island since it is only across the street and perhaps id luck out and get it for 100 per night or less. so i was doing the priceline name your own bid. so i decided on friday to try again after giving up at my cut off of 150 every day unsuccesfully (and 100 for 4 stars strip norths) but i wasted far too time this week doing this so i decided friday was the day id get it done- maybe id raise my max bid. (i will also note earlier in the week they gave me the counter offer of 199.00 monday and tuesday, then wednesday their counters were lowered to 188 and then 183) i knew we must be close and if i raised it to 160 or so we would be done. trouble is, it was saying it was a duplicate bid and i know more than 24 hours had passed, so i decided to add strip south into my bids so i could bid now instead of later. thinking thehotel usually doesnt come up. here goes 4 star strip north 85.00 declined 4 star strip north, airport 100 declined 5 star strip north 141.00 declined (got countered 183.00-knew we were getting closer again) 5 star strip north , summerlin 145 declined 5 star strip south ,strip north 146 declined 5 star strip north, strip south, airport 154 declined 5 star strip north, strip south, nellis 160 declined 5 star strip north, strip south, summerlin 163 ACCEPTED ONLY THING IS, it was for TheHotel at Mandalay Bay way at the other end of the strip. also 163 is higher than i wanted, i mean i see people winning venetian for under 100 on here sometimes, but when i go to do it, i pay premiums i wonder what is going on that weekend that it was so tough well i can only blame myself for assuming that thehotel wouldnt be the winner. i know it will be a sharp hotel, and i have always wanted to try out their pool/beach area. just this trip it is not where i wanted to be really. and i did use the better bidding PRICELINE link too by the way. NOTE i realize i forgot to add the winning bid in the header, mod, can you please add it for me?price was 163.00 thanks!
  11. Well this was one of the hardest times ive had securing something on PRICELINE, i do not know what is happening that weekend in vegas, but it appears to be that all the hotels prices are way up that weekend(looking on Expedia and other sites). So i decided to try my luck on priceline, rather than pay 180 a night for something like a 4 star that way. I started out two nights back Strip South 56.00 4 star rejected Strip South+Airport 60.00 4 star rejected then i decided i would go to bed it was getting late the next day i tried my luck again and more realistic as well . 70 strip south 4 star rejected countered 113 77 strip south +nellis 4 star rejected countered 113 82 strip north + strip south 4 star rejected 85 strip north 4 star rejected 87 strip south + airport 4 star rejected 91 strip north + nellis 4 star rejected 92 strip south + summerlin 4 star rejected 100 strip north + strip south 4 star rejected countered a whopping 157!!! 100 strip north 5 star rejected, countered a whopping 177! 115 strip north + nellis 5 star rejected, countered 177 125 strip north + summerlin 5 star rejected, countered 177 130 strip north + airport 5 star rejected countered 177 135 strip north + strip south 5 star rejected countered 177 140 strip north + strip south + nellis 5 star rejected 145 strip north + strip south +airport 5 star rejected 150 strip north + henderson 5 star rejected 155 strip north + fremont 5 star rejected wow that made for an intense hour or more of bidding, so i realized i was done for the night,. then i really scratched my head, do i take a 4 star in the south , taking the chance i got stuck with westin or excalibur or do i just go on to the sites and i could get luxor or treasure island both for about 170.00 or so or did i take my chance and get a nice 5 star for 150 or so? so the next day i thought id try again, this time i was going to cut to the chase, i had already wasted too much time on this the night before it also would not let me rebid nothing it kept telling me it was a duplicate request and i had to wait 24 hours, funny thing i looked in my inbox, at all the emails priceline sends you when you get rejected and it had been over 24 hours so i almost gave up and about 10:30 it let me try again 125 strip north 5 star rejected countered 177 135 strip north + airport rejected countered 177 145 strip north + strip south + airport 5 star rejected 150 strip north + summerlin 5 star rejected 152 strip north + convention center 5 star rejected (this one took a LONG TIME to answer, i was thinking i had it) 156 strip north + henderson 5 star rejected 160 strip north + fremont 5 star ACCEPTED by the venetian phew , that was fun, i was already to pack it in and try again the next day, but im glad i dont have to anymore it looks as if they were not budging from the 177 counter offer, which i think is high on the 5 stars its still about 70 a night less than what they are charging on their website though By the way, i did use your PRICELINE link "thereuare"
  12. PS THE SPECS SHOULD BE AS FOLLOWS : * Boutique Hotel * Fitness Center * Pool(s) * Restaurant(s) * Laundry Facilities * High-speed Internet Access hope this helps! :)
  13. Wanted to put my mom and dad up for a little getaway in the mountains for my moms birthday/mothers day, so i decided to look at HOTWIRE.com, and seen they had 3 star for 105.00(best value), i decided to check the pinned list for hotwire hotels, it only showed the Banff Caribou Lodge(which has rave reviews)and it also showed trip advisor rated it 4/5. So i was 100 percent certain that would be the one id get, well i was in for a surprise to get this one, although i cant see I'm disappointed too much, it is still rated #9 and it indeed has a 4/5 rating on trip advisor. Mod, you may want to update this under your pinned hotels for the Banff, Canada section. :) Also, i admit i forgot to use your HOTWIRE link! Next time i wont forget :)
  14. right i forgot, i can log on a piece of paper the max stars per zone, before bidding( :) ) my mistake, i knew it was somewhere, but it is interesting as a side note, that no confirmed wins from either zone?thats very strange ?or if there was, no one posted the winning bids.. just saying.. thanks everyone! :)
  15. Hi there, i have noticed on the "pinnned" las vegas hotels area that suddenly? nellis and summerlin seem to be missing?am i missing something?can you please let me know?i am curious what the maximum stars are per location so when i do my rebid, i dont actually get stuck in those areas can you please let me know? any help is appreciated! thanks kindly J
  16. actually, i thought this was on topic, since i was replying to the other guys post, and then mentioning my own experience. that does not warrant the start of a new topic.
  17. i tried the last 3 days in a row(not including today)at 5 stars in north strip and south stip in vegas april 11th to 15th, , and kept getting rejected, i stopped aand gave up after bidding 150 a night, that is just outrageous i thought surely id get accepted at north or south. They countered me at 212 around the time i bid 120 each day. its not like its spring break during those dates why are they being so tough? Anyone know which hotel it would have been , i dont recall if it was on the north or south strip but if memory serves it was the north.
  18. Well, i was getting settled in to do a bit of bidding back and forth pressing the back button on my browser, etc then to my surprise my very first bid i got accepted for 70.00 at the hilton financial district , it probably would have been my last choice to stay at of all the listed 4 star hotels, but its still a cheap price and i wont complain, its not like its motel 6 or something, :) i just wonder if i wanted to stay somewhere a bit better(see list below), should i have started at 80? or 85? i really didnt want to go very high, i was just hoping id fluke out to get ANY of the following: Westin St. Francis Grand Hyatt Le Meridien (St. Regis) Palace Omni Hyatt Regency Hotel Palomar W San Francisco Marriott Argent or Clift Hotel but i didnt , but i wont complain just to recap $70 ... 4/3/08-4/7/08 San Francisco (USE) Hilton San Francisco Financial District and ps i did use the link to PRICELINE through this forum! :)
  19. Just tried Priceline for the first time got the one i hoped for, it really works :)
