  1. Was just checking in to see what hotels have been won in the Rapid City area before I bid or choose "Express", & just can't believe there are NO posts since 2015 for basically anywhere in South Dakota, especially the Rapid City area which is a hot spot for summer vacations with Mt Rushmore etc... Is that really correct???
  2. Patience pays off! Just got an email from Hotwire with a great price of $12.95/day...so was able to book a Full Size car for: Car rental Car daily rate - Hotwire hot Rate: BasePricePerDay:$12.95 Rental days: 7 Subtotal: $90.65 Tax recovery charges and fees: $62.29 Trip total: $152.94 I tried a $10/day bid on Priceline first to make sure I couldn't get the car cheaper...with fees that would have been $130ish! But am VERY happy with this rate...even $20 less than the rate I got 1 year ago & was happy with! Should I change my topic title? or put this in a new thread???
  3. Actually it is the week of the National High School cheerleading competition in Orlando! I am working on booking a car 2/9-2/16! Funny, last year I had no problem getting a good rate! Maybe something else is going on as well???
  4. Going to Orlando Febr 9-16: I have a few weeks...so decided to low-ball (like gkp had & won!)...& followed his $10 for midsize SUV...but no luck here, not accepted! SO I then rebid with the bid I won 1 year ago for for same place/same car...$15 for full size, which was ALSO rejected! :( Will try again tomorrow! As always...used the PRICELINE link to begin my bidding! :)
  5. My 1st bid of $15/day for a Full Size car won! Feel I did pretty good! The best I've seen while watching the past month on either HOTWIRE or PRICELINE is like $188/wk...but this week it was over $200! Your Offer Price: $15.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 7 days(6 days and 20 1/2 hours) Subtotal: $105.00 Taxes and Fees: $67.50 Total Charges: $172.50 Lowest Published Price: $305.11 OHHH....& used PRICELINE link of course! :)
  6. Hyatt Regency Crown Center $55...7/28/10 Bid $55 for Downtown/Crown Center area. Was hoping for Hyatt Regency Crown Center as we have stayed there in the past & it is VERY nice! Initial bid of $55 was accepted! Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $55.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $55.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $17.29 (USD) Total Room Cost: $72.29 (USD)
  7. WOW! This really sounds like a fantastic deal! I live in this area, and this is a brand new hotel, in a beautiful new area! Enjoy!
  8. Used PRICELINE Link to begin my bidding: First bid of $20 for Full Size accepted! According to Priceline...71% savings over lowest published price $20/day 7 days(6 days 2 1/2 hours) subtotal: $140 taxes & fees: $61.20 Total Charges: $201.10 According to Priceline: Lowest Published Price: $682.02 Total Savings: $480.92 (71%) I feel good considering how high car rental prices have gotten lately!
  9. There is a really nice Courtyard by Marriott I stayed in the end of March, and won again for June...that is a 3* in the Venice/Santa Monica area(actually Marina Del Rey) that offers both free parking and free wifi! It's really a nice area, close to the beach, and about a 15 minute drive to Hollywood depending on traffic! It's really a great hotel...I highly recommend it! It is the hotel you would most likely win right now for a bid on a 3* in the Santa Monice/Venice area. Winning bids range from $70-$80. Hope this helps!
  10. I was happy that my first bid of $70 was accepted! I also want you all to know, although the reviews of the Courtyard aren't great...I was pleasantly surprised (I stayed here in March) and feel it is a VERY nice hotel! (and I am picky...I like nice hotels!) The rooms are nice, beds are comfy, and pool area is beautiful! Also...major perks are FREE parking and FREE in room internet! That is RARE in the LA area!
  11. First bid of $50 for 3.5* Los Angeles...(LAX) was accepted! Offer Price $50.00 Taxes & Fees $14.33 Total: $64.33 Used the PRICELINE link as always!
  12. Started bid at $60 for 3.5* Santa Monica...bid rejected(which I fully expected), so added 3*...again rejected. Added Brentwood-Westwood and increased bid to $70 and won Doubletree Guest Suites (Santa Monica Marina Del Rey).

    Airfare Rebids

Hi... I am planning to name my own price on priceline, but had some questions regarding rebidding if my 1st bid isn't accepted. I was wondering...if I am from a smaller state (Nebraska) planning to fly out of Omaha... and there are no additional airports in the area to rebid with...am I just out of luck with rebidding? I wouldn't want to drive 3 hours to Kansas City, and that is the only other decent sized airport around! It is for a trip from Omaha (OMA) to Honolulu (HNL) Any help with a rebidding strategy would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Ann
  14. WOW...reading through this thread I'm just SO surprised! I've bid $68 dowtown LA at least 3 times and received the Westin, and love it! Last time was last Spring. Have prices risen that much for the area? I'm looking into traveling there again soon to visit my daughter, but do not like the prices I am seeing here! (hope it's OK to post this random chat here!) :)
  15. Just wanted to inform you...I finally got the bid of $86 accepted for a 4* downtown LA hotel for the dates of 2/27-3/2. I started my bids with $68 for 4* downtown on Jan. 25th(which I have had accepted 2 times in the past & received the Westin), then on Jan. 27th I bid $74 which was also DENIED, so then on Jan 30th I bid $86...and it was FINALLY accepted! I don't change my options and try again on the same bid, as I am set on staying in a 4* and definitely want downtown as location(as my daughter goes to school in LA and lives downtown). This is my 4th time to bid on Priceline for this area (but I just recently found your forum), and I have found that in the Fall season (Sept, Oct) I have been able to get it for $68, but in the Spring, each time I have had to bid $86. I have been awarded the SAME hotel..."The Westin Bonaventure" each time, and we are VERY happy with this hotel...so that is what we hope for! Just thought I'd share my information with you...since I found your forum.
