  1. Saw the great price people were getting and gave it a shot for 8 months out & a holiday weekend- $50 bid accepted on the first try for Sat April 3nd-Mon April 5th, 2010 Total Cost w/ Tax $122.62 Retail on Starwoodhotels.com- $179/nite, over $400 w/taxes SUPER GOOD DEAL! ps- used the PRICELINE link, too!
  2. Thank you for the tip, Aaron- booked w/ Orbitz using the link, and the code worked! Got 4 nites at the Comfort Suites (w/ full access to Atlantis pools, beaches & shuttles) for $731. That comes out to $161/nite w/ the discount (before taxes & fees)and includes FREE breakfast, in room refridgerator/coffee maker & an onsite microwave and washer/dryer for guest use. I don't think ANY of the Atlantis properties are going to beat that- VERY HAPPY! Thanks as always for the great info- CZ
  3. thanks Aaron- since we're confident we want an Atlantis property, we probably won't use PRICELINE on this one- but appreciate the feedback nonetheless
  4. If you search on "regular" priceline in Nassau/Paradise Island, the only properties that come up as "resort" are Atlantis (Beach, Coral, Royal Tower; Reef, Cove, Harborside)--- Is it relatively safe to assume that w/in "name your own price" the resort designation is Atlantis properties as well? I didn't see any "wins" for Resort/PI-Nassau to give a hint. Thanks- will use the link once I clarify (we def. want access to Atlantis, but don't really care which property).
  5. can you list ammenities on this win? Courtyard Plantation is not on the Hotwire list for 3*
  6. just a follow up- Parents are now looking at a cruise w/ hotel before and after, around a $9 Spirit Air deal out of Atlantic City in late April Thank you for the response, just wanted to close out the question-- Will repost any additional questions & advise them to use your links- appreciate the responses.
  7. Thank you, oh wise one! That does seem like a good fit. I was doing research for a family member who isn't as savvy on how to play the "travel game"- not sure if they will take advantage of what I think is a good opportunity, but I will make sure they use your links if they do- thanks again!
  8. Comp. breakfast Pool Fitness Laundry 3 1/2* Tripadvisor, 40+ reviews, Nov. 08 I think the fact that it just says "Naples" is screwing up my tripadvisor research- any ideas?
  9. Sorry it's Hertz- and now I have a problem that maybe you can help me with? We decided to go in a day early, to see disneyland, but I have this "no change" reservation. If I call Hertz, do you think they will let me add on w/out having to go to the counter twice? Even if it's at the retail price?
  10. Economy car 4/9-4/17/09 Total cost $151, 67% off published price! Along w/ two hotel wins 3 nites at Couryard Marriott Downtown SD/$80, 5 nites Crowne Plaza Beverly Hills/$95, we're saving a bundle! Much Thanks- And American has $240 RT airfare from PHL- WOW! Happy Holidays
  11. HOTWIRE priced at $109/nite, and retail is currently $217! Sweet deal (used the PRICELINE link too- thanks!)
  12. Holy Cow- for Easter Weekend? I threw out a few rediculously low bids to Coronado/Downtown for the holiday weekend vs the HOTWIRE & Kayak rates & "oops I did it again"- Guess I better start shopping airfares- looks like we'll be going to Cali for Spring Break! Used the link to PRICELINE- thanks, this is a great resource!
  13. Anyone seen a Mc Cormick & Schmick coupon good for August (8/21 @ Ghiardelli's Square, San Fran to be exact)... If not, can minors eat at the $1.95 bar menu (13 yo)? We will be walking Fisherman's Wharf (no driving), so I would order if there were minimum drink requirements- Thanks!
  14. I'd be more focused on airfares for those dates right now- they seem to be going up every day w/ no end in sight. As for Westin KOR, I would think right before x-mas might not be bad, since you'd be gone by the holiday (don't know what the days of the week are that you would be traveling, but that plays a big part, too). You aren't looking for a full week, you'd be booking directly w/ the resort instead of negotiating w/ an owner. That means fewer options. Any chance you can push it back to earlier in Dec? Travel fares (air and hotel) are really good from the Tuesday after Thanksgiving until around 12/14- Are you sure you want a condo and not one of the hotels (Westin/Sheraton/Hyatt)? Are you sure you want only Westin KOR as opposed to one of the other condo resorts (Whaler, Marriott)? If you're 100% sure you want this property, these dates, I'd secure your airfare first, then sit on HOTWIRE and PRICELINE every day, bid wisely and give it some time. My 2 cents- ps- I'll be there in about 70 days ( :) ), so if you want a trip report, drop me a line over Labor Day weekend-
  15. as follow-up: bid on Ebay- Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort North timeshare (the new property) 1 bedroom oceanview w/ full kitchen, w/d, whirlpool, Lanai... It required setting the alarm clock to place last minute bid at 3 am (seller was in CA, I'm in NJ), but I got it for $1125; 8/22-29... Less than $165/nite, tax inc. & no resort fee- sweet! Received confirmation from resort within 1 week. Learned alot as a result of this forum- also got $20 OGG mid-size car PRICELINE win for same week (see post, under rental car) Thanks all, and happy travels!
  16. Actually an 8 day rental (pick up- 10 am, drop off 9pm) $218 total Lowest published rate $385 (43% off) Cheaper than two RT shuttles from airport to Kaanapali (Just hope gas doesn't hit $5/gallon!)
  17. Norwegian was really the only game in town for Hawaii cruises. Now it looks like they are getting away from the business (pulled 2 of their 3 ships). People who had reservations will have ALOT of hassles, and those who were planning to book a cruise to Hawaii could now be looking for rooms instead- Should we expect hotel rates to increase as a result?
  18. u are very kind to offer your advice- I will follow it and also track HOTWIRE; will check in w/ results. thanks, CZ
  19. Fri- 150, rebid 160 Sat 170, rebid 180 Sun- 190, rebid 200 Can only rebid Kihei, Kahuli is greyed out (can't use zone) and Wailea has resorts
  20. Goal- best value for any one of the three resort properties (Westin, Sheraton, Hyatt)- not 4* or better (I guess I was confusing Priceline/Hotwire terminology there). Do you think Whaler/condos have been removed from "resort" bids on Priceline? High bid to date $200 (since I know one of the properties was $279 last nite on Hotwire, likely Westin/Sheraton, and I wanted to hold off going too aggressive until I got some advice). I very much appreciate your educated input- obviously, I do have time, so I can be patient!
  21. Sorry- put internet 2x, skipped business ctr Fitness, restaurant, Laundry, Pool, Business Center, High Speed Internet 3.5 stars on trip advisor, 160+ reviews as of January, O8 (actual # of TA reviews for HI Fishermans Wharf as of 2/10/08- 167)
  22. Fitness, restaurant, laundry, pool, internet, hi speed internet 3* Fishermans Wharf very happy!
  23. Love this site! Thank u all (esp. moderator!)- Planning a 10 day west coast adventure (San Fran 8/20-22, Maui 8/22-28, San Diego 8/28-30), and got my 1st HOTWIRE win on Fri for SF (posted on another thread- $66 HI Fisherman's Wharf, 65% off!). Now watching Kaanapali, w/ a few ?'s- 1). Would take any 4*+ resort property (Sheraton, Westin, Hyatt), so priceline could work- it seems like Whaler has been flushed out (no posted wins in 9 months, moved to Condo on price section). Good calculated risk? 2). If yes, I'm seeing wins around nov/dec '07 of around $150 even for summer dates, but it looks like a limited window (no wins in '08). I compared similar times from '07 and even '06, and wins were more like $200-$250 for summer. Am I wasting my bids starting $150? 3) If no, Hotwire currently has $285 for what looks like the Sheraton- since I have about 6 months, should I watch/wait? That would be about 30% off, which is very good, but after getting 65% off for SF, I think there could be room for improvement-unrealistic? 4) Are there days of the week that are more attractive for bids/wins (I've been told weekends higher, tues/wed lower general rule for published airfares)? What about time of day (prices change at midnight? less bidders during the day?) I want to hold off on booking San Diego until I commit dates for Hawaii. Any input, greatly appreciated.
