During my stay, I checked guest services account through the TV and it showed that the total room charge was $54.88. I was not sure which hotel I was going to get when I booked initially, but it appears that from other's experience, it's cheaper to book directly with the hotel if this is the hotel you are aiming for.

When I tip the maid, I put it on the pillow and everytime I returned, the bed is made and the money is gone. So I think they know it's for them. Like a pillow fairy of some sort. :)

Congratulations and happy anniversary on your hotel living. I looked into doing it in San Diego but it's too tight to fight with tourists and bids are around $100/night. I was trying to figure out which hotel frequent stay program was best to use with Priceline and Hotwire stays and figured you would be the one to know. My experience is that Marriott is the best because they give credit for Priceline stays. I have had no luck with Radisson or Kimpton Hotels. Which hotel program have you found to be the best?

Checked Hotwire today and rates were lower at $54. Also, this hotel charges $15/parking so total out of pocket, I could have booked directly for the Fairfield Inn Placentia with comp breakfast and free parking that's only 4 miles away. :)

You can take the public bus for $2.25 from the Airport to Downtown San Diego that stops in front of Horton Plaza. From there, you can walk up to C Street and 2nd and get on the trolley to the Manchester Grand. I don't know if you can get a free transfer from bus to trolley but it will be much cheaper than taking a taxi.
