  1. Was hoping for Hilton again, but got Crowne Plaza Suites MSP Airport - Mall Of America Three Appletree Square, Minneapolis, MN 55425 ...

Hotwire listing bragged "90% recommended" which is not consistent with Trip Advisor lately (the other CP in Bloomington West on Green Valley Drive is highly rated)... so we shall see.

$57 per room per night plus taxes and fees came to $284.18 for 2xRooms, 2xNights - making this a better deal (hopefully) than the 3* properties with free breakfasts for $77+ (although I'm curious about this new 3* "Boutique" amenity in MOA/MSP zone on Hotwire).  $20 buys a lot of food at IHOP!

    Amenities listed:

    Free parking
    Free Internet
    Indoor pool(s)
    Airport shuttle
    Smoke-free rooms
    Fitness center
    Pool(s)
    Restaurant(s)
    Business center
    Internet access
    Accessible for visually impaired
    Accessible for hearing impaired
    Accessible path of travel
    In-room accessibility
    Accessible bathroom
    Accessible parking
    Roll-in shower

  2. Needed a room quickly last night

$43 listed price - $54.70 with taxes and Hotwire fees.

The 2.5* listing on Hotwire only listed Free Parking as an amenity on the mobile site, but the 90% Hotwire recommended rating and my deep-deep desire to shower and sleep after 40 hours of international flying prompted me to pull-the-trigger.  I was disheartened to get the Extended Stay America, but this is nothing like the dump of the same name I stayed at in Rockford 6-8 years ago:

Hotwire shows Extended Stay America - Rockford - State Street, 747 N. Bell School Road, Rockford, IL 61107 with:

    • Free parking
    • Free breakfast
    • Free Internet
    • Pet friendly
    • Fitness center
    • Self-service laundry
    • Internet access
While basic, it was clean and fairly quiet room.  Towels were fairly thin, but not surprising for a weekly-type of place (or one for <$50).  TV is a modern LCD, but all the in-building modulators are analog - so nothing is in the correct aspect ratio.  CNN, CNN Headline, Fox News, 2-3 ESPNs, and 3 Showtime channels.  Couch was comfortable.  Bed was queen, comfortable but not luxurious.  This deserves a 2.5 star rating - and is just fine for a place to shower and get a night's sleep.
  3. My hotwire portal/account history shows seven amenities for this property:

    • Free Internet
    • Pet friendly
    • Fitness center
    • Restaurant(s)
    • Business center
    • Internet access
    • Children's activities

Just got back - this Hotel was excellent.  We arrived from the airport at 10:30 expecting to only lock our bags in storage and return after 14:00-15:00 to check-in, but they had a room that had just had maid service, so we were able to shower and take a nap while the smog thinned out enough for us to justify a trip up the Eiffel Tower that first afternoon (18 March 2015, the day that Paris had the worst air quality in the world according to scientific particulate measurements).  Normal European differences aside, this Hotel has plenty of power outlets, decent Wifi (6Mb down, 1.5Mb/sec up speeds are typical), small refrigerator in room, 42" LCD TV with 40+ channels (CNN International and 2 others in English), and generally felt like a $125-$225 a night list hotel in a major US city -- so $99USD is a bargain in Paris even with the current favorable US-Euro exchange rate.

  4. Pre-purchase amenities listed were restaurant, free internet, business, childrens, pet friendly.

    Novotel Paris Gare Montparnasse

    17 rue du Cotentin

    Paris, FR, 75015

Thanks for the forum - would've booked a lower star property through a transparent site if it weren't for the match of amenities for 4* giving this property in a convenient location for our short stay in Paris.

  5. Hotwire amenities listed when browsing for purchase:

Free Parking, Resort, pet friendly, Indoor pool(s), Airport Shuttle, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center

    $53 plus $15.37 = $68.37

Hilton Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport Mall of America
    3800 American Boulevard East
    Minneapolis, MN, 55425

    Full amenities post-purchase on hotwire:

  6. My first "failure" at Priceline (failure being defined as my unwillingness to buy opaque unless I save 25% off buying directly):

    Rockford, IL

    on 9/2 $35 2.5 star 1 room

    9/4 bid $37 for 2.5 star 1 room

    9/5 bid $50 3 star 1 room

    9/5 $50 2.5 star 1 room

    9/5 $49 2.0 star 1 room

Hotwire had a 2 star at $34 ($43 with taxes/fees) Friday morning, I didn't pull the trigger then and it was gone after lunch. Now takes $63 ($77 tot) for a two star.

$67.49 gets RedRoof directly from their .com with AAA- Oh well! I'll still use BB next time I travel.

  7. $45 bid for Rockford 2.5 star accepted on 1st try:

    Courtyard By Marriott Rockford

    7676 E State St

    Rockford, Illinois 61108-2718

    815-397-6222

    Fri, Sep 11, 2009 / Sat, Sep 12, 2009

    Taxes & Service Fees: $12.93

    Total Charges*: $57.93

I stayed at this same Courtyard in Rockford this time last year - they assigned me a room with a single queen-sized bed, but for $10 additional at check-in offered a room with two full-sized beds.
