  1. Need to be relatively certain that I'm booking the Westin as I already have rooms booked there through work and I'm getting the following. What's the likelihood this is the Westin?  Thanks for your help!!

    3/16-3/19

    4* Las Vegas North Strip

    $62/nt

    Resort Fee: $19.95

    75% Recommended

FULL AMENITIES: Free Parking, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Casino, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet access, Golf Nearby, Spa Services, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower

  2. I'm not totally thrilled with this one. The hotel looks nice, but in retrospect I think I went too high. You can book a room on the hotel's website for $120/nt. Sanlitun is the only area to offer a 5* so that gives you 3 re-bid zones for Beijing.

US Starting Bid: 5* Sanlitun $72

    Add Zone: $77

    Add Zone: $82

    Add Zone: $87 Rejected

    Switched to www.priceline.com.sg

    SG Starting Bid: $92/S$150

    $97/S$160

    $103/S$170

    $106/S$175

    $109/S$180

    $112/S$185 ACCEPTED

  3. Pretty sure I would get the Sheraton on this one. spg.com has it at HK1150/$149 per night. Note that you don't want to use Central Kowloon as a re-bid zone. West HK has JW Marriot as a 5* as well, but I didn't mind if they gave me that.

I started on the US Priceline site:

    US Starting Bid: $62

    Add West HK: $67

    Add East HK: $72

Switched over to priceline.com.sg for free re-bids

    SG Starting Bid: $77/S$127

    $82/S$135

    $90/S$148

    $97/S$160

    $103/S$170

    $109/S$180

    $115/S$190

    $121/S$200 FAILED

decided to go back to the US site and got it on my first try back:

    US: $122 ACCEPTED

  4. Thanks for the tip, I thought they might be the same, both sites look identical.

Does anybody have any idea if they use the same inventory as the US site?

I'm just wondering if you might get a better deal using the SG and HK sites particularly for Asia. I did notice there are more asian destinations to choose from. For example you can bid Guangzhou, which is not available on the US site.

  5. I decided to try www.priceline.com.sg since they allow free rebids for only S$5 increase in price.

    Zurich, Switzerland

    2/14/05 - 2/15/05

    Zone: 4* Downtown

    I bid S$70 (US$42) Rejected

    I bid S$87 (US$52) Rejected

    I bid S$103 (US$62) Rejected

    I bid S$120 (US$72) Rejected

    I bid S$136 (US$82) Rejected

    I bid S$153 (US$92) Accepted

They gave me the Hilton in Glattbrug near the Airport! I immediately emailed them explaining that there was no way this hotel could be considered downtown.

They replied in 24 hrs saying that I was correct and a computer error caused this to happen. They offered me a discounted price and to refund the S$16 processing fee. I wrote them back and said I wouldn't stay there at any price since it's Valenties Day and I'm only there for one night. They offered me the Intercontinental downtown for S$186/nt (US$112) and waived the S$16 processing fee. I accepted that.

Overall, I think using priceline Singapore is good a good option, since you get the free rebids, the customer service was quite good. Just make sure you have a couple of days to rectify a problem or a backup plan if something goes awry.

Priceline Hong Kong www.priceline.com.hk is another option I plan to try for a China trip I have coming up, I'll post my results.
