  1. Not a bad place for $32.00. Regular rate of $60. Hotel Amenities Free parking Free breakfast Free Internet Pet friendly Fitness center Business center Self-service laundry Internet access Haven't posted in a while. Hope this helps.
  2. The lowest car rental price on Kayak was low $100's for no-name car rentals (unknown to me). A couple of weeks ago, Hotwire had $50 rates, but they went up to $68 all-in. My old rule of thumb was to bid 10% less on PRICELINE than what HOTWIRE was offering. Since I have plenty of time, I bid 30% less. Hotwire was $16.95 per day for a $68.70 3 day total. My winning bid booked via the PRICELINE link on BB: $12. 00 per day or $50.56 all in. My rental is with Avis. FYI, non-bid PRICELINE did have the lowest rates for Avis at $27 per day or $99 all in.
  3. My first bid was 2 days ago in the Albany Thruway area for $42.00. Priceline said it would accept a bid of $55. I declined. After reading here, and not wanting a dump for $45 with my re-bid to include the ALB airport, I bid $49 and was accepted at the Cresthill Suites.
  4. Got this on the first try. Free breakfast + indoor pool + free wi-fi.
  5. Holiday Inn Rochester Airport Northwest Rochester - Rochester Airport 911 Brooks Avenue, Rochester, NY 14624 Hotwire was $48. Priceline $39.00 Hotwire showed a 'fake' high price of $121. Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $39.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $39.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.77 Total Charged to Card: $52.77
  6. Car rental prices at DFW are very high because of taxes. A 2 day rental non-PRICELINE was running a minimum of $150. Last week, HOTWIRE was still showing expensive prices. Earlier today, HOTWIRE was showing $34.95 per day + taxes for a total of $111. I tried $29 on PRICELINE for an Economy car and my bid was accepted. That was $6 less per day! Your Offer Price: $29.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 2 days Subtotal: $58.00 Taxes and Fees: $39.73 Total Charges: $97.73 It's still expensive, but not outrageous.
  7. After bidding on P/L up to $90 for 4* and getting rejected, I checked the Hotwire rates. 3* on Hotwire was showing $68. After some reasearch, I figured I would get a good hotel for a 'boys weekend' at Camden Yards. My last P/L bid at 3* was denied at $64. They said if I bid $77, the room was mine. Gee thanks! Hotwire guaranteed the $68, so this was a no-brainer. 8. I haven't read anything current about Auckland hotels. Has anyone had a successful bid at an Auckland hotel? If so, please provide any information you have. Thanks.
  9. While not a frequent poster, I still feel the obligation to post my winning hotels and use your link! :)

  13. I just used the search feature to research Rochester. The last bid for 3* was at $38 for the same hotel. Since I had a couple of days, I bid $35 just for fun. 15. For March 2 - 5 (using the link) HOTWIRE starts at $36. I can't believe rentals cost that much. I tried PRICELINE bidding yesterday at $17, and no luck. Buffalo is the last place in the world I expected cars to be expensive. My rule of thumb is that Priceline is at least 10% cheaper than Priceline... just can't bring myself to bid $30 a day. Back to the drawing board.
  16. $15.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 3 days(2 days and 18 hours) Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes and Fees: $22.05 Total Charges: $67.05
  17. $12.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 2 days(1 days and 19 hours) Subtotal: $24.00 Taxes and Fees: $24.49 Total Charges: $48.49 Hotwire asked $15.95 per day. Lowest available was $22.95 at Alamo.
  18. FYI, Somewhere along the line, this place was renovated! Considering it was a 1*, I was pleasantly surprised. If I 'got stuck' a second time, I wouldn't mind staying here. :)
  19. Why? Because sometimes you're just anxious, and hope that things 'work out'. dh
  20. 1* Albany Airport $47 Sept 10, 2008 Super 8 I started my bidding at $43 3* in the Albany Airport area. Rejected and included 2* SUNY area at $45. Rejected and added 1* all areas except Sch'y. $47. I wasn't happy since I've previously been accepted for <$40 at the 2* Hampton inn. Oh well. My percentages are pretty high in the win department. Super 8 Motel - Latham/Albany Area 1-star Latham 681 Troy-Schenectady Rd. Latham, New York 12110
  21. All the college kids went back this weekend. That's why prices were so high.
  22. I've been trying to rent a car in PHX December 14-18. It's a 5 day rental. I tried using various Ent book certs and no luck. I tried using the discount codes that are out there and no luck. I took a look at Hotwire and prices started at $21 for an economy car. I read various bulletin board posting, and had no luck. When I tried using Priceline (several times over a 2 week period), I had no luck. I was looking for a mid/full size car. P/L declined all offers up to $17. So finally, I checked the Car Rental Checker up above this forum to look for cars. I plugged in my dates and city. The Car rental checker shows 3 different company's with all their pricing info. Orbitz showed the lowest rates. And I mean a major difference. About $40 for the 5 days. That's a lot of money; especially when you include the extremely high taxes at the PHX airport. :) I booked a mid-size car with Fox for $14.30 per day, for a total of $71.50 plus $54 in taxes. Grand total $125. I've rented with Fox before without any problems. So before you bid on Priceline, you may find cheaper prices with Betterbiddings Car Rental Checker.
  23. Care to enlighten us where you found the bonus money? I need to 2 a car in PHX and LAX, and this will be helpful. Thanks
