  1. No, that was it for the amenities. Were you wanting to see accessibility info? That would be: Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower
  2. Better Bidding scores again! I was delighted to get the Sofitel -- a lovely hotel -- for about $30 less per night than the best advertised rate. And, using the BB HOTWIRE link, I also felt informed going in thanks to the good info on the site. You guys have helped me time and again. Many thanks! Sofitel Philadelphia Amenities: Free internet Pet friendly Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Restaurant(s) Business center Internet access
  3. Yes, "Internet Access" is also one of the amenities. As per above, I went ahead and booked it using the BB HOTWIRE link, and received the LHR Sofitel. Also just FYI, they offered me the option of extending my stay an additional night for US$133. Thanks again -- great to have you guys to count on even when I'm in another country!
  4. I had to jump on this (UK time difference), and I'm so pleased that it was indeed the Heathrow Sofitel! Ammenities as per my original post above. April 10-11, 2014 5* (Heathrow Airport LHR East) Sofitel London Heathrow Subtotal: $137 Tax recovery charges & fees $34.95 Total trip price $171.95 I used the BB HOTWIRE link. A great price for London and this hotel in particular. Thanks, as always!
  5. Hi, guys: I know there's no guarantee, but I was wondering about your confidence level that this is the Heathrow Sofitel and not a previously reported 4* that's been bumped up to a 5*. I have an early flight and want to avoid the Hoppa Bus if possible, so the in-airport Sofitel is my prime choice. I know that right now this is the only 5* on the BB list, but with amenities that match so many of the 4* properties as well, I'm feeling wary. April 10-11, 2014 LHR East $139 Amenities Free internet, restaurant(s), airport shuttle, business center, smoke-free rooms, self-service laundry, fitness center, spa services. Using the BB HOTWIRE links for searching, of course. With thanks, as always.
  6. Using BB's PRICELINE link, I bid: All at 3* level: $45 for Syracuse-Liverpool; rejected Added one re-bid zone at $50; rejected Added second re-bid zone at $55; rejected Added third re-bid zone at $60; accepted for Comfort Inn & Suites Syracuse airport Thanks to Better Bidding, I knew that the Comfort Inn was a 3* possibility (thank you!). So I knew and accepted that I might get this hotel. But I'm still not happy that Priceline uses the "Upscale 3*" star level -- which they advertise as including hotels like Hyatt, Four Points, Courtyard, Double Tree, and Hotel Indigo -- for a chain that they themselves identify as only a 2*. It just seems misleading. Comfort Inn's web site had this at $89, so at least I'm still saving some money.
  7. Great deal on the price (rate from hotel web site was $139). Short amenities list (initial page): Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access Long amenities list (on last page *before* reveal of hotel name): Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower. I used BB's HOTWIRE link to book, with thanks as always. :D
  8. Always a pleasure to stay at the Hotel Indigo! I used Better Bidding's HOTWIRE link: NMA - Water Tower - Gold Coast 3.5* Price: $98 Amenities: Boutique, Fitness, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High speed internet, Golf, Tennis, Spa P.S. -- Love your new format!
  9. This is definitely the most I've ever spent on Priceline -- and I wish I had grabbed the Sheraton Lincoln Harbour Hotel last week when it was rack rated at $177, since Sheraton usually upgrades my room (grr to me). But given that Hotwire has a JC 4* with a 4.5 Trip Advisor rating for $192, I definitely saved some money using Priceline instead -- using the Better Bidding PRICELINE link, of course! I also just checked Westin's own site: lowest priced room for these days is $409 -- so now I definitely feel better! :) Bidding history: $150 - rejected (I've been trying this for days, so I started higher than usual today) Added re-bid zone at $160 - rejected Added re-bid zone at $165 - rejected Added re-bid zone at $170 - ACCEPTED! Offer Price: $170.00 Nights: 4 Travel Insurance: $20.00 Room Subtotal: $700.00 Taxes & Fees: $119.28 Total Charged to Card: $819.28 Thank you, as always, Better Bidding! :)
  10. Thanks so much. I'm still looking but moving my focus to Jersey City and environs. (Just wanted to close out this thread.) I will -- of course -- use the BB PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links and do so happily! :)
  11. I'm stumped on this one. None of the currently listed hotels from previous wins would seem like a fit w/laundry. Any thoughts on a likely candidate? Also noted it was recommended in "90% of Hotwire customer reviews." And it says it received a 3.5 rating on Trip Advisor. Downtown/Soho 9/7/11-9/8/11 Amenities: Fitness, Laundry, Hi-Speed Internet $187 Thanks!
  12. Aaron, this is near Fox & Obel? Cool, now I know where it is! (Hadn't checked a map yet.) I am triply excited!
  13. 3.5 * Mag Mile - Streeterville Embassy Suites Downtown Lakefront 10/2 - 10/4/09 $108/night Suite, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Biz Center, High-Speed Internet I booked this using Better Bidding's HOTWIRE link, of course :) I actually assumed this would be the other Embassy Suites property, which Expedia had at $219/night. They list the ES Lakefront at $249/night, so getting it for $108 on Hotwire looks like quite a deal! The gets a "4" rating at Trip Advisor, although the comments are decidedly mixed. Still, it's a very good rate for a weekend when the rack rates where quite a bit higher. And I've never stayed at an Embassy Suites, so I'll be interested to check them out. Thank you, as always, to Better Bidding!!
  14. Just to close this thread, we decided not to stay over and just made it a very long day trip. Thanks, as always, for the help and advice!
  15. thereuare, the convention that caught my eye is "Print 09" at McCormick Place w/75,000 attendees. No idea if this is large for Chicago or not. OK, I was hoping there was just something easy or obvious here that I was missing. I'll keep checking for this week for rooms downtown; if the airports are the only option we'll probably just drive down and back on Saturday. I'll close this one way or the other by Friday, of course using Better Bidding's HOTWIRE link if we end up finding something. Thanks, as always, for the help!
  16. My apologies if this has already been addressed (didn't see it anywhere), but I can find nothing -- zip, zero, nada -- in Chicago other than the airports for 9/11-9/13. Hotwire has nothing, Expedia has nothing. I see there's a big printing convention going on, but would that take *all* the hotel rooms in the city? We really only want 9/12-9/13, but I also tried with 9/11-9/13 to see if this was just an exclusion for one-night stays. Both returned same big goose egg results. I've never seen anything like this. Anyone know what's up? Thanks!
  17. Just FYI, this is the first weekend of Summerfest (which bills itself as "the world's largest music festival") so prices are higher -- and rooms in shorter supply -- than at other times of the year. Milwaukee Summerfest http://www.summerfest.com/flash/
  18. Aaron, I have to say, this is an adorable hotel, on a very pretty street (I'm writing this from the room; just got in). I got a Queen non-smoking room, and it's a lot like a small bedroom in an apartment. I'd guesstimate it at about 12x16, which is fine for my purposes although it might be a bit tight for 2 people. Also a small bathroom, and I'm not really a fan of stall showers. But the decor is really sweet, and touches like the pod coffee maker, laptop safe, and of course free internet are much appreciated. This may be my new 1st choice place in the city -- cozy and cheery :-)
  19. I know I'll probably get a teensy room since the going rate is $189/night on the the hotel's web site. But I've wanted to check out this property and the price was right :-) I booked using Better Bidding's HOTWIRE link. Hotel Indigo 1244 N. Dearborn St. Chicago, IL 60610 NMA-Water Tower-Gold Coast 3.5* hotel $84/night for two nights AMENITIES: Boutique Fitness Ctr Restaurant(s) Business Ctr High-Speed Internet Golf Tennis Spa Another happy camper on Better Bidding!
  20. Thanks to all for the terrific help and info. We've decided to postpone this trip until later this spring -- we'll be back to Better Bidding when we're ready to book :)
  21. We're still on the fence about this trip, depending on how we do with lodging. Any thoughts on this -- the Boutique icon is throwing me: 4/4-4/6/09 3.5* Magnificent Mile Streeterville $81/night Boutique Smoke-free Fitness Restaurant Business Center High-speed internet Best Value No Trip Advisor info Any insight greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  22. Thanks, AaronJB. It's my own fault for not reading the threads here first. Oh well, it's not like it's an awful hotel -- I don't want to scare off anyone else who might win this one! It's just that being familiar with the city's hotels, I wouldn't personally give this the Ultimate Rating of 4.5* Maybe it will be a pleasant surprise . . .
  23. :) I should have looked at the recent posts before booking. When I checked the 4.5 * hotels on the list for this neighborhood, I only saw the Conrad and the James, either of which would have been wonderful. I didn't even see the Inter-Continental listed, since it was down the page a bit in the 4-star listings. I have to say. I'm disappointed with the win. If I had realized the Inter-Continental was a possibility, I wouldn't have bid -- we could have gotten the Blackstone for the same price on Travel Zoo, or one of the cheaper but actually better value 3.5 * options on Hotwire. I just think the Inter-Con is over-rated and not among my favorite hotels in the city. Here are the amenities. I used this site's HOTWIRE link to book. 4.5* Hotel Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Best Value (No Trip Advisor info listed)
  24. Caveat emptor, of course, but if anyone is jonesing for an itty bitty netbook and willing to consider a 2-yr AT&T broadband contract to go with -- it's a pretty great price. (By comparison: I got my Acer Aspire One for $399.) Here's the link: http://www.dell.com/content/products/featu...;l=en&s=dhs Good luck!
  25. Thanks, thereyouare. I'm only seeing one non-airport 4* when I do this search. It's an NMA/Gold Coast w/amenities: Boutique, Fitness, Restaurant, Business Center, High-Speed Internet, Golf for $169. (Trip Advisor 4.5 out of 5.0 based on 140+ reviews.) The price is a bit high for us -- but I'll see if changing the number of guests brings up more options. Much appreciated as always :)
