  1. After checking Hot.wire and Expe.dia/Travelocity Secret Deals, I decided to try to underbid them on Price.line. Those three were showing a 3.5* in Downtown Cleveland for $80.00 a night,Expe.dia/Travelocity showing a pool as an amenitie and Hot.wire,not.Since there are only 3 3.5* hotels in the downtown(The Westin is not open yet,May 1st, and the Embassy Suites is closed and being turned into apartments) and two have pools(Marriott and Doubletree, either of which would have been fine), I started my bid at $60.00. Rejected,so I added Brookpark which has no 3.5* and rebid at $65.00,also rejected. I then added Elyria, again with no 3.5*, and bid $70.00 and was accepted, $89.34 with taxes and fees.Price on the Doubletree website was $159.00 plus tax. Prices in the downtown area have gone up in recent years due to the opening of the Horseshoe Casino,I presume. As always, I used the PRICELINE link provided here. Please post your wins or rejections here and just not use the boards. It sure helps all of us to get the best deals possible!
  2. I bid up to $61.00 for a three star on Priceline for this date 3 different times with the last time, adding a 2.5*,but was rejected each time. I had also been checking Hotwire,Priceline Express, and Expedia/Travelocity's secret hotels, but again were over what I wanted to pay. Finally, check Hotwire again and it was $65.00 for a 3*,but by the time I got back to it,it had gone to $68.00,so I just went ahead and booked it. Amenities: Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Indoor pool(s) Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Summary Of Charges 1 night Hotwire hot Rate Room@ $68.00/night $68.00 Tax recovery charges & fees: $18.41 Subtotal: $86.41 Trip Total: $86.41 As always, used the HOTWIRE link provided here! Also, please post all your wins and just not use the board as it helps all of with info to get the best deals possible!
  3. Started bidding for a 4* at $135.00 and was denied....added a few zones and went up to $160.00 with no luck. Added 3* at $135.00 but again no luck. Hotwire was in the $140.00 on up for a 3*,but we wanted to be beachfront. I saw on Priceline Express a 3* for $118.00 but with limited amenities listed, including no mention of beachfront,so I was a little gun shy.....until I read a previous post from November that some one had taken a chance on the same express deal for the same price,so I took a chance and it paid off. Priceline Express amenities: Guest Score: Rated 7.0 out of 10 (or higher) Guaranteed Amenities: Outdoor Swimming Pool Pets Allowed Restaurant Summary of Charges Hotel: $118.00 /per room night Rooms 1 Nights 4 Taxes and Fees $73.64 Total Charges $545.64 As always,I used both the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links provided here and encourage everyone to do the same. I'm sure it helps pay the bills! Also, once again, I'll get on my soapbox about posting your wins and not just using the boards! It helps everyone to get better prices and keeps the hotels and prices current.
  4. Tried $55.00 for 3.5*,rejected. Added Elyria, which has no 3.5*,and bumped bid to $60.00,rejected again.Added Brookpark, which has no 3.5* either, bumped bid to $65.00,accepted. $83.41 with all taxes/fees. Crown Plaza's website was $135.00 and other sites(Hotwire,Travelocity/Expedia's Secret Hotels, and Priceline Express deals) were from $71.00 to $80.00 for 3.5* in Independence....so saved a little over those sites. Please post ALL your results after using this site as it helps all of us get the best deals!
  5. The new Horseshoe Casino has really increased the prices and the fact that the Sheraton is being renovated and will reopen as a Hilton.Hopefully, things will calm down in the next year.
  6. Bid $50.00 for a 3.5*....not accepted. Added Brookpark/Brooklyn which has no 3.5*,bumped price up to $55.00 and accepted. As always, used the PRICELINE link provided here. Please post ALL your results after using this site as it helps all of us get the best deals!$71.47 with all taxes and fees.
  7. Started out going after a 3.5* Cleveland(Downtown). Realizing there is only 2 3.5* left, now that the Crown Plaza is closed for renovations and the Embassy Suites is now closed and being converted into apartments, that left either the Wyndham or the Doubletree, either of which was fine for us.HOTWIRE had a 3.5* for $68.00,so I tried to under bid that. I started at $55.00 for a 3.5*,but was rejected but was counter offered at $65.00,which I turned down. I then rebid at $58.00 and added Brookpark/Brooklyn(which only shows a 1* and 2*)and much to my suprise was upgraded to the Hyatt Regency Cleveland Arcade!! We have stayed quite a few times here before the Casino put it out of our price range....beautiful hotel in an older building that is classic! $75.02 with all taxes and fees.Quick tip...instead of using the valet at $25.00 a night, use the parking garage located right next door for about half that amount. As always, used the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links here to research and buy our hotel room. Once again,I urge you to post all results ,win or not, and how you acheived your results as it really helps the rest of us to get the best possible price and hotels!
  8. I did not. We changed courses and ended up on the east coast at Daytona. We booked a 2 bedroom condo through a private company at the Ocean Walk Resort, which we've been to 3 times before.$90.00 a night including taxes, cleaning fees, and no timeshare presentation. Thanks to all that post on here....when you do it helps so many others!
  9. Done. I try to use the links here to book travel when I can!
  10. Need some help id'ing this property....dates 03/03-03/06 3 nights:$118.00 per night 90% recommended. This Condo features the following amenities: Free Parking Fully-equipped Kitchen Air-Conditioning Pool(s) Front Desk Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Kitchenette Studio Condo Doesn't list on the beach or near beach. Thanks for the help!
  11. Bid $52.00 for a 3*(hoping for the Wyndham)but was rejected.Added 2.5* and upped the price to $60.00 and got the Courtyard. Not bad for a hotel that has a 4* review rating on Tripadvisor! Rooms: 1 Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $120.00 Taxes & Fees: $20.28 Total Charged to Card: $140.28 Price per night on the Marriott website was $144.00.
  12. Amenities: Suite Indoor pool(s) Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) Free Breakfast Free Internet 95% Reviews Hotel Rate per night: $140.00 Nights: 3 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $74.64 Subtotal: $494.64 Trip total: $494.64 Just a note....Embassy website said no rooms available for 08/05 through 08/07....but booked anyway.Great price considering free breakfast and evening drinks, especially in expensive DC!
  13. Started bidding at $70.00 for a 4*,rejected. Dropped to a 3 1/2*,dropped price to $50.00...rejected.Added different zones with no 3 1/2* a couple of times, change price to $52.00 and then $56.00...still no luck. The other zones has 3*'s but I didn't want to be in that area. My only option left was Cleveland Heights that had only a 4* on the hotel list(which I didn't want....too far away),but after research,it never really had been won and not at $60.00,. So I added this zone, added 3*,and bid $60.00 hoping to get upgraded to a 3 1/2*,but won the Radisson. That's OK,because its virtually acrors the street from the Cavalier's arena, which is why we are going there! PLEASE...post your wins, not just use this board! It helps everyone get great deals! $77.43 with all fees. Seems hotels are getting more expensive in Cleveland....used to pay no more than $45-50.00 for the same hotels. As always, used the PRICELINE link here to start the bidding.
  14. Needed a room for one night in the Cleveland area before a Cleveland Browns game. After checking the winning bids here,I started at $36.00 for a 3* in Independence, hoping for the Hyatt Place. Was rejected,so I added Westlake as we have stayed at the 3* Holiday Inn Westlake a few times and were quite pleased with it and raised the price to $40.00. Again rejected,so I added Brookpark, knowing according to the hotel list, there were no 3* and raised the price to $42.00.Bingo! It not only was accepted but upgraded to the Doubletree Cleveland South in Independence. Best price on their website was $71.00 payable in advance. Total price was $56.00 with all taxes and fees. Also, Don Shulas Steakhouse/sports bar is in this hotel so I went on Restaurant.com and got a $25.00 certificate for only$2.00 after putting in the promo code FALL.You have to spend $50.00 in food to get the $25.00 off,but nowadays who doesn't spend that or more when dining out? Not sure if its OK to add that last part!
  15. Hotwire is showing this 3* in downtown Indianapolis for $60.00, one night September 17th. Amenities are Comp. breakfast, fitness center, laundry facilities, and high speed internet. I search the boards and all I see that was posted as a win is the Comfort Inn,but every posting says that it listed smoke free rooms as an amenitie which this doesn't. The only other one in the Hotwire hotel list is the Holiday Inn Express, but it too shows more amenities than just those four. Any ideas?
  16. Sorry, the amenities were: This Hotel features the following amenities: Complimentary Breakfast,Fitness Center, pool, business center, laundry, high speed internet. And,as always, I used the HOTWIRE link provided here.
  17. After doing some research, I was fairly certain this was the Drury Inn. 57.00 + 16.06 taxes and fees = $73.06. Was $108.00 plus tax on website. Not bad considering free drinks and appetizers in the evening and free hot breakfast in the morning for the 3 of us! 06/24/2011 for one night.
  18. Bid $42.00 for 3.5*...rejected.Bid $50.00 for 3*...rejected. Bid $52.00 for 2.5* knowing that the only 2.5* is the Holiday Inn Express downtown, which in my opinion, is better than the 3 or 3.5 * downtown Cleveland hotels, but was upgraded to the 3.5* Crown Plaza. We have stayed at this hotel quite a few times through Priceline or Hotwire and the staff has been the best! $67.96 with all taxes and fees.Best rate on website was $117.00 plus taxes and fees, Also, tough night for hotel rooms since Reds vs Indians and Arena Football in town!
  19. After reviewing this board, bid $75.00..rejected. Added Tarpon Springs/Palm Harbour(no reported 4*),raised price to $80.00....rejected. Added South St Peterburg(again no reported 4*),raised price to $85.00,accepted by Tradewinds Grand St Pete Beach.....$297.00 with taxes and fees. Cheapest room on website was $157.00 per night and HOTWIRE was $103.00 per night plus taxes and fees. They do charge a resort fee payable at check in, but have stayed here in the past and had a wonderful time. As usual, used the PRICELINE link provided here to book.
  20. After checking this board, bid $43.00,accepted first bid...$59.38 with taxes and fees.Website was $94.00 with taxes. All hotels in downtown Cleveland charge a parking fee....this hotel is $16.00. As always, used the PRICELINE link provided here to book.
  21. After checking this board, bid $38.00 for 11/27/2010 for one night and was accepted on first bid......$51.00 and some change with taxes and fees.Website was $86.00 plus tax and fees. Great deal for a nice Holiday Inn with Holidome. As usual, used the PRICELINE link provided here .
  22. After checking this board and others, bid $35.00 and was successful on first try. Crown Plaza South Independence. 47.00 with taxes and fees.As usual, used the PRICELINE link provided here.
  23. I've been having an issue with their website and am wondering if anyone else has. When I do a hotel search for ,say, 2 adults and one child, when the results come up it has defaulted back to 2 adults only.I can put in any combination and still it comes back as 2 adults. It just started doing this in the last few weeks, on any computer I use,and any city I choose. In the past,I have found it can make a difference in the price. I cleared my cookies, etc. I called their 800 number and all the lady wanted to do was book a hotel for me and somewhat pissed off said she would file a report.Any suggestions?
  24. I think you are right about this being the Embassy. When I put in one night,06/21,checking out the 22nd with 2 adults,I get a transparency from hotel.com with the exact same amenities $130.00 and it is the Embassy. When staying 2 nights 06/20 to 06/22,2 adults, I get 3.5* ,exact same ameneties, and $63.00 per night. Not sure why you would need to stay 2 nights to get the $63.00 rate. Also, according to the ameneties,a kitchenette is defined as: Accommodations include a stovetop or microwave oven, a sink and a mini-refrigerator. The Courtyard has the microwave(no stovetop) and the mini refrigerator, but no sinks(other than the bathroom!) in their rooms. I've decided to use some of my Marriott Points and stay at no charge for 06/21 for one night. The person at the front desk said that I could purchase the 8 day parking package for $50.00 upon arrival. Thanks once again for your help and I'll advise if I change my mind as I can cancel my room if something better comes along here.
