  1. I meant to include my bidding history before getting this, just for others FYI. I started at $45 and 3.5 stars (knowing 3.5 stars only exists in one zone) and worked my way up dollar by dollar, eventually adding in 3 stars. I got rejected until I hit $50 with three stars, using four of the zones.
  2. Used the PRICELINE Link :) Hyatt Place Mystic-I-95 Ledyard (Mashantucket) - Mystic Areas 224 Greenmanville Avenue Mystic, Connecticut 06355 860-536-9997 See Hotel Website View Map and Directions Check-In Date: Fri, Dec 5, 2008 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sat, Dec 6, 2008 / 12:00 PM Amenities: Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $50.00 Subtotal: $50.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.72 Total Charges*: $63.72
  3. Saturday, August 16, 2008, one night Started at $90, eventually got this 2.5* at $105, total comes to $126 with taxes and fees. Just an OK deal because booking direct through HI would have been $160 with taxes but a savings is a savings I guess! Not bad for a Saturday night near the casinos, however. Not overjoyed with this deal, but definitely happy that I saved a few bucks. I bet I could have done better if I had waited a few more weeks.
  4. Yes, I am familiar with free rebids. I started with Norwich/Uncasville and then tried Groton, Ledyard, and Niantic, making my way up to my final bid of the night at $75. Ideally, I'd like to be in Uncasville or Norwich so that it is 10 minutes or less. I am willing to go as high as $90. I have to see if I have any more rebids.
  5. Thanks, Hammer! I called the Hyatt Place and they said they are about 25 minutes from Mohegan, which is too far for us, I believe. Any other suggestions welcome!
  6. I am looking for a hotel for one night (May 2, 2008) near Mohegan Sun. Here are some rates I've seen on hotel websites: Holiday Inn - $180 Residence Inn Mystic/Groton - $189 Hilton Mystic - $152 Days Inn - sold out Radisson New London - $129 Hyatt Place Mystic - $161 I have tried up to $75 so far for 3*. I am just looking to be as close to Mohegan as possible. I don't need the Ritz - just clean. :)
  7. One night only - Saturday, 2/23/08. Bid accepted at $70 on the first try for the 4* Renaissance Providence Downtown. I am actually pretty surprised that it went for this price considering how nice the hotel is. Just FYI!
  8. Success! I got the Omni Cancun Resort for $110 a night. Used the link. This is a decent savings as Omni's current lowest rate is $169 per night. Thanks for the help!
  9. On another site they list two additional 4* for Cancun and have folks that have won these hotels in the 4* category... these are in addition to the Fiesta Americana Condesa. I would not want the Flamingo but would be ok with the other two if I decided to decrease my star level. Anyone have any insight from experience here? Intercontinental Flamingo Hotel
  10. The Omni is nice - I've stayed there on business. Savings is a savings, even if not as high as you might have liked, right? :)
  11. I am not willing to go above my max because I have a backup at the Hyatt resort already with one night free so that works out to $157/night with guarantees like a king bed and non-smoking. I'd be hard pressed to go above $100 at this point. I may just wait it out. I will try that site as well! Thanks!
  12. Just a quick follow-up.... so far, no luck on getting a resort for my dates of stay. I've gone from $80 up to $110, increasing $5 per day. No luck, but I'll keep at it!
  13. Ok, I could use some help bidding. I am heading to Cancun in January 2008. The current hotel websites are listing rack rates at: Casa Magna Marriott - $259 Gran Melia Cancun - $200 Hilton - $249 JW Marriott - not available Omni - $169 Sheraton - not on Sheraton's website Westin - $229
  14. Thank you to this board for the strategy - it worked perfectly! The Marriott is beautiful and it was listed at $249 per night on the hotel website as of this morning. I used the Marriott website and logged my dates and the total would have been $1193 so priceline saved me $760! :) Aruba Marriott Resort And Stellaris Casino Check-In Date: Thu, Dec 13, 2007 Check-Out Date: Mon, Dec 17, 2007 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$90.00 Subtotal: US$360.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$73.20 Total Charges: US$433.20
  15. That worked!! I did just as you said (and I used the PRICELINE link at SavingsBarn) and I got the Marriott (resort)! I'll post my winning bid!
  16. Thanks for your response! It seems to me that the 4* and Resorts in Aruba are fairly similar (if not the same places, according to this list on this site?)? I'm not a particularly picky person on the hotel itself, except that I do want it to be a top hotel, though, so am not willing to go to 3*. I'm ok with a few dollars here and there, but really don't want to break the bank on this trip. I'd say my max is probably $125 a night.
  17. Failed bids for Aruba, 12/13 - 12/17. Tried first for resort at $70 and failed. Tried for 4* at $80 and failed.
  18. Looking for a bidding strategy for Aruba for Dec 13th - Dec 17th. I would like a resort category (no lower than 4 stars). Currently, the hotel websites are showing the following: Aruba Marriott Stellaris- $279 Renaissance Hotel- $212 Hyatt- $315 Westin - $180 Hotwire is showing a 4* at $119, which I presume is the Westin. Looking for advice on a PL strategy. Thank you!
