  1. Just an other Priceline Coupon from Priceline, which I couldn`t resist 🙂 Booked for our one night stay at Cleveland in August 2020. With the coupon (15%) we pay 208 USD for 2 rooms/1 nite incl. taxes. So it`s about 73 USD before taxes per room and night. BiddingHelper.com was right again. The amenities were:

    Free Internet Available

    Free Breakfast

    No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

    Fitness Center

    Handicapped Rooms/Facilities

    Free Internet Access

We are satisfied with the win. Nothing very special, but good for one night and very central. Also including breakfast and good reviews. The normal price would be about 194 USD per room/nite before taxes, so a good bargain.

    Happy new year, Christian

  2. Merry Christmas everybody!🎅

Got a discount code for Priceline Express (12%). Used it for our upcoming stay in August at Detroit. I hope Downtown is a safe area. The hotel looks quite nice and I didn`t find any hotels with lower star ratings and a lower price, so I took the deal. BiddingHelper.com was right, so again very useful. Used the link provided there.

    Amenities were:

    Pets Allowed

    Fitness Center

    Business Center

    Restaurant

    No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

    Free Internet

    Indoor or Outdoor Pool

The price was 132 $ per room/nite before taxes. With the coupon the price dropped to 311 $ for two rooms after tax, so about 155 $ including tax per room. Compared to the 305$/nite/room with taxes at the westin homepage it`s really a good deal. Again a very early booking for an august trip, but I couldn`t resist after receiving the Priceline Coupon. And it`s nice to stay at such a huge and luxury hotel for that price. Normally we would have taken something cheaper, but as mentioned the prices for lower star levels were equal.

    Best wishes, Christian

  3. Dear Aaron, thank you very much for your hint that is extremly helpful. Here in Germany the Great Lakes are not such a popular area compared to Florida, New England or the southwest area including California. So it's hard to find hints.

Our next stop on the planned tour will be Green Bay for one night and afterwards two nights in Marquette area. At Marquette i'm not sure which is a good hotel, in Munising there would be a holiday Inn at the lake. Do you know this area as well?

    Have a good Christmas time!

  4. Our trip is far in the future, but I wanted to have the first hotels booked, even in this area, where there are not so many hotels. I thought that maybe in August it could get full soon in Door County.

Not really a big bargain, but it saved nearly 70 $ compared to a booking through Best Western directly. We booked two Queen bed rooms, so it was slighty more expensive than the room with double beds.

Including taxes and after a Hotwire Coupon discount code sent by email it was 216 USD for 1 night and two rooms.

    The amenities are:

    Free Breakfast

    Free Internet

    Free Parking

    Pet Friendly

    Indoor Pool

    Spa

    Non-Smoking

    Handicap Accessible

Thank you for the help on your website. Your BiddingHelper.com identified the hotel perfectly.

  5. Thank you very much for your help! So we better invest the money for the cab than taking public transportation and have to change the lines with the luggage.

After our stay at Chicago we rent a car at hertz. Midway would have a choiceline, but at 9.30 am it may take some time with uber or the orange line. Do you know a good hertz station in Chicago? With the reviews it's difficult as satisfied customers rarely write a review.

    Best wishes, Christian

  6. Thank you very much for your help. As also all AirBnBs were more expensive or far away and on the website of the Ambassador the price for one room is higher than now at priceline for two rooms, I made the booking. We took Kingbeds in the 2 rooms, so it`s a bit more expensive than the price of 99$ for the Queenbed.

It is the Ambassador Chicago (surprise😉) with the already mentioned amenities (should I repeat them?) for that total:

    Room: 102x4x2=816 USD

    Taxes: 182,64 USD

Coupon: -40,80 USD (of course your Priceline Coupon and booked through your site)

    Total: 957,84 USD

We are satisfied and if necessary we will invest the saved money into Uber or Lyft. As we wanted to go to Lincoln Park anyway, the location very far north is okay. For a busy time in Chicago it seems to be a good deal.

A last Question: Is it safe to go with the public transportion at about 8 pm leaving from O`Hare to the hotel or should we take an Uber (do they have larger cars at the airport as 4 trolleys have to get in the trunk/car?)

Have a nice day and thank you very much!

  7. Hello,

our family of 4 is travelling at the end of July 2020 to Chicago for a trip across the Great Lakes. The flight arrives at 6.30 pm at O'Hare and we plan to stay first at Chicago before going north.

I know that questition isn't allowed😁 but maybe it's to early to look right now? For our last trip to the States we were later with all our hotel bookings. But in Chicago there's the Lollapalooza festival exactly at our dates and prices are high. It seems to be a big thing and we can't see the fountain at the park from Al Bundy😥 If it would be a great bargain we could change our stay in Chicago and start the roundtrip after landing and do Chicago at the end, but I would prefer the big city at the beginning.

But now there's a quite good deal at priceline express, so I would be very glad, if you could give me a hint, if I should take this opportunity:

    Dates: 07/30/2020 - 08/03/2020, 2 Rooms

    Priceline Express, 99 USD/Nite before taxes = 970 USD for 2 rooms and 4 nites incl. taxes+fees

Magnificant Mile / Gold Coast, 4*, 7+ guest Rating

    Hotel Amenities

    Free Internet Available

    Pets Allowed

    No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

    Fitness Center

    Handicapped Rooms/Facilities

    Business Center

    Restaurant

    Free Internet Access

I'm pretty sure it's the Ambassador. Not bad, but a bit north and needs 2 lines of L from the airport (blue/red if I see it right - not ideal after 10 h flight and being 3am at local time in Germany). But the price seems to be really good. The last days I always had the Knickerbocker as priceline deal for 1,060 USD just for 3 nites. After adding one nite the Ambassador came up with a lower price.

Thank you very much for your help. If you think, I should just wait till the beginning of 2020, this would also be very helpful. On thd other hand 99 $ seems to be a good price.

    Greeting from Munich, Christian

  8. Just booked the Holiday Inn Paris Marne La Vallee for one nite in August for 61 $, after using the hotwire discount code provided at your site we pay now 56 $ for one room. This is okay, as on the hotel site it`s a much higher price (about 84 $ before taxes). Booked via the HOTWIRE link provided here.

The hotel doesn`t seem to be a dream hotel (e.g. no pool), but perfect for visiting Disneyland by train or car within 25 minutes. We are happy.

    Amenities:

Free internet, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access

    Greetings from Germany, Christian

  9. Just booked the Holiday Inn Express in Leland NC (Wilmington NC Area). I couldn't choose this zone at this post, so I chose a nearby zone in the post. Maybe this could be removed to the right zone.

The normal price is 106 usd before or 117 usd after tax. So not a big bargain, but with the 20 $ off coupon quite interesting. Paid 94,85 $ with taxes instead of 117 $ so about 22 $ savings. As we always need two rooms, I booked for my wife also with the coupon. With my account I couldn't use it twice. So overall satisfied with the deal. What hotel it would be was mostly clear and it gets good reviews. For one night it will work good.

    The amenities are:

Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Indoor pool(s), Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby
Accessibility Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower

Booked over the HOTWIRE link from your page. Thank you very much again.

    Best wishes from Germany,

    Christian

  10. Probably not a very popular deal, but we needed a hotel to stay near the south entrance of the skyline drive, which will lead us the next morning finally to Washington DC with some hiking in between. At the arrival day we will visit the Grand Caverns nearby.

As the prices at Priceline Express were rising, the hotel directly would have been about 104$ (225$ incl. tax for 2 rooms), with PRICELINE EXPRESS it would have been 77 $ (189$ including tax for 2 rooms) with these amenities (listed at the winning page of PRICELINE NYOP):

    Free Breakfast

    Free Internet (in Room)

    Free Parking

    Pet Friendly

    Indoor Pool

    Non-Smoking

    Gym

    Business Center

I started bidding 65 - 70 - 72 - 74 and finally 75$ were accepted. I waited 2 hours after the first bids were rejected. Now we pay 177 S with taxes for 2 rooms and one nite. Not a big bargain, but 48 $ to the hotel site direct are okay and the hotel get`s very good reviews. Booked through the link provided. HOTWIRE was more expensive even with the new Hotwire Discount Code as it has been for all hotels that I searched the last months.

    Best regards, Christian

  11. Just got the Raleigh Marriott City Center for 73$/nite/room. For 2 rooms and with taxes it`s 184,96 $. On the hotel`s website it would be 514 $ with taxes, so I think it`s a good deal for a good rated property. The only downside is the fact, that there will be renovations going on from May-September 2018. But as we stay only for one nite it will be no problem - I hope so :-). Before Priceline Express I tried bidding, but no success from 56$ - 68$. As the price now is 73$ it would make no sense to continue bidding with the risk of getting the other 3,5* property in that zone, which has no pool. With the Priceline Express Deal I thought of getting the Sheraton Raleigh, but so it`s okay and the Marriott even has higher rates. So I only hope that the pool isn`t closed for renovations and hope to get a renovated room as we arrive at the end of the renovation period mentioned on the hotel`s website.

    The amenities were:

    Free Internet

    Business Center

    Fitness Center

    Non Smoking

    Restaurant

    Swimming Pool

I made the booking through the PRICELINE link provided at your site. Thank you again for your help in the other topics regarding our stay in NYC and DC.

    Best regards, Christian

  12. Thank you very much for your help. I have to discuss with the children if we really need a pool as many affordable hotels don`t have one.

The offer for the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill disappeared, so that the  Dupont-Woodley Park 3,5* for 84$ is the only interesting deal with pool. This seems to be the   Marriot at Wardman Park which get`s mixed reviews. The location would be okay for us after your helpful explanation about Dupont.

We will see what`s coming up. Have booked the Capitol Skyline Hotel as backup for now about 660 $ (incl. taxes) for 3 nites/2 rooms. The hotel location near the Nationals Stadium seems to be not the best as I understand the reviews. But it seems to be close to the Capitol an the National Mall.

    Best regards, Christian

  13. For our last stay at your trip through eastern USA we need two rooms in Washington DC from 08/20 - 08/23/2018 (3 nights). As we (my wife and me) are traveling with our kids (12+9 years) a pool would be great for them. It`s our first trip to Washington DC so not sure what zones are the best. We want to do the normal tourist things (National Mall, Museums). I searched in the zones Capitol Hill, Convention Center, Downtown, White House, Dupunt Circle/Woodly, Georgetown-Foggy Bottom. Did I forgot some zones? We want to be near the attractions to do them by walking or only a short metro ride.

My results are the following (prices always without discount):

    Capitol Hill, 4*, 102 $ (=776 $ with taxes for 2 rooms and 3 nites), 8+rating

    Business Center

    Restaurant

    Free Internet

    Indoor or Outdoor Pool

    Fitness Center

    No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

My guess would be the Hyatt Regency Capital Hill. The reviews are okay, but at priceline at the bed choice the price would be for a double bed. I can`t believe a 4-Star-Hotel will have just a single double for 2 people. On the hotel fact sheet no single doubles are mentioned. A double bed would be a bit small, although we are slim persons. Also in the reviews there was mentioned a homeless shelter nearby and not so many food options. But I think this will be not a big problem.

Dupont-Woodley Park 3,5*, 84 $ (=637 $ with taxes), 8+ rating (this hotel doesn`t show up at the bidding helper, but at priceline direct)

    Free Internet

    Business Center

    Fitness Center

    Non Smoking

    Pets Allowed

    Restaurant

    Swimming Pool

My guess would be the Marriot at Wardman Park, which gets mixed reviews. Also it`s the question, if the property is a bit far away from the sights. My sister has been to the Omni Shoreham years ago and mentioned, that ther was not much around the hotel.

The other options have a much higher price, e.g. a 5* in Georgetown for 137$ (=1.006 $ with taxes (the hotel was 973$ two hours earlier)), which seems to be the Watergate Hotel. I don`t know, if the hotel is worth the difference of 200 or 300 $.

I will book the Capitol Skyline Hotel as backup for 702$ (with taxes) just for the case, that the prices will go up.

Which hotel would you recommend, esp. for the location of the hotel. Maybe you have another hint.

Thank you very much for your help,

    Christian

  14. So many possibilities - I have to check our route again. Thank you for your hints.

Now I have a quite good rate with hertz from 08/04 (Philly Amtrak) - 08/23 (PHL) for a Chevy Impala for 580 $ including taxes and fees. So I`m not sure if I should split the reservation. With one-way-fees it will not be cheaper.  After HHI we are going to Washington DC and end up at PHL flying home.

But I have to think about going by train or bus from Philly to Manhattan and getting a car when leaving town. The idea with bus to six flags is very good. But we have the luggage for 3 weeks with us, so it could be a problem with storage. And as you mention we have to look how to get from Six Flags to the south..

    Danke fuer alle Tipps, Christian

  15. Thank you for your help!

We are going from Philadelphia to Manhattan. After Six Flags we have a long way to Hilton Head Island, SC. Not sure now which route we will take. We have 3 days for the approx 750 miles (Thursday-Saturday). I thought about going through Chesapeake Bay Bridge instead of the I-95 through Baltimore and Washington DC as I assume there`s much traffic around these big cities. Do you think the route over dover and norfolk could be more relaxing and teh landscape more interesting? My other option going with the ferry from Cape Mey was refused by my other family members - democracy isn`always good :-)

    Viele Gruesse, Christian

  16. I`m so thankful for your support. We now have chosen the Room Mate Grace for 08/05-08/08 directly with the hotel. By booking with the mobile the price incl. taxes was reduced to 527 $ per room for 3 nites (1,054  $ all in for 2 rooms for 3 nites). This was lower than the price with priceline express even with the discount. Besides this I was thinking, that we will have better chances to get the rooms on a higher floor and to get adjected rooms when we book the hotel directly.

As I`m really glad that you helped me to avoid hotels with additional hotel fees I would like to make a small donation. But I can`t find an adress where to send the money by paypal. Last time I used your help (12 years ago :-)) it was possible. The 4*-hotel with 6+ rating (2.000 reviews) to which I was refering first could be The Roosevelt which gets mixed reviews. I think we now have the better deal.

Maybe I will go on your nerves with our search for a hotel in Washington DC at the end of our trip.

Just a last question: After our stay at the room mate grace we are going to Six Flags New Jersey (near Trenton, NJ) as our son wants to do every ride (Kingda Ka is waiting for me ;-)). Maybe the hotel has a garage nearby for a reasonable price. But would it be better to park our car at the western part of Manhattan (we are arriving on a sunday so that I assume it will be possible to drive without to much traffic jam) and pick it up on 08/08 about 9 am to avoid the section from times square to the licoln tunnel (or is it better to leave Manhattan by another tunnel/bridge?). Here in Munich I sometimes need 30 Minutes for 2 miles if I`m trying to leave the city centre. I assume this could be similar or even worse in Manhattan.

Thank you so much for your help and your patience, Christian

  17. Thank you very much - without your help I would have booked the Gregory (probably) for a price of 163 $/nite inkl. the hotel fee, which I wouldn`t like to pay, as it`s not the best hotel in NYC. Only the price of 135 $ (and no fees) have been an argument.

Thank you very much also for the hint on the Distrikt Hotel. It´s a bit above my budget, but there the hotel fees are shown before booking. The agent at the chat at priceline told me, that all fees will be viewable before booking. As you describe this can be the case, but is noch always so. To make a case of this problem isn`t worth it, esp. here from Germany.

We are looking again and I will give you notice of our efforts.

    Beste Gruesse aus Muenchen, Christian

  18. I thank you very much for your help and much work with me.

I´m still searching. My original cheap 4* Deal disappered, but I found a new one:

4* in Empire State Building Area for 135$ (still 08/05-08/08)

    Business Center

    Non-Smoking

    Restaurant

    7+ rating, only 70 reviews

My guess would be The Gregory. But The Gregory charges a hotel fee of 28$/nite/room, which would make the deal no more interesting as The Gregory seems to be okay, but not one of the best hotels in NYC (Nr. 293 of 474 on Tripadvisor). So only the price of together 1,013 USD for 3 nites and 2 rooms would make it worth thinking about.

Is it possible, that the hotel fee isn`t shown in the rate but will be charged nevertheless directly from the hotel? If you bokk The Gregory direkt via PRICELINE, the hotel fee is mentioned. Maybe it`s an other hotel?

We are still looking for 2 rooms - 1 room isn`t an option for my wife. But thank you very much for the hint with the stewart hotel.

    Have a nice day, Christian
