  1. Looks like an updated La Quinta property, in good shape with great TripAdvisor ratings. Saved an extra $15 thanks to the HOTWIRE link on this site -- thanks! Here are the listed amenities: Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Airport shuttle, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access
  2. $68 / night x 2 = $136.00 Tried bidding on PRICELINE, but no love for me. :-( Looks like a decent property and decent location, anyway. Amenities listed: Free parking Free breakfast Free Internet Pool(s) Self-service laundry Internet access
  3. No luck bidding, so I went with a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal. Looks like their best posted rate is currently $79, so no great savings this time, but every $$ counts! Amenities listed were: Pets allowed Free parking Business center Airport shuttle Indoor or Outdoor pool Free internet Free breakfast Fitness center Non smoking
  4. After failed bids up to $65/night, I picked up 2 nights at $77 as a Priceline Express Deal. Looks like a nice, fairly new property. Rate posted on their website is $129/night, although quite a bit lower through other travel websites. Amenities: WiFi available in all areas Heated pool Business Center Pets Allowed Non-smoking Rooms Parking Remote control television Complimentary continental breakfast
  5. There were actually a couple of free rebid zones in the area, so incremented bids by $5 until this one landed at $60. I saw a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal that might have been this property listed at $63. Is it just me, or is PRICELINE EXPRESS getting closer to successful bid prices more every day? Looks like a nice little hotel, with free breakfast! Of course, started bidding using PRICELINE links!
  6. $81/night x 2 = $162 plus tax and fees. I think I saw something about other hotel fees around Rapid City, so maybe some unwelcome fees coming... Amenities: Free breakfast Free parking Free internet Pet friendly Airport shuttle Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center Self-service laundry Accessible path of travel
  7. Looks like a newer La Quinta property, from the photos anyway... :-) Free breakfast Free parking Free internet Pet friendly Pool(s) Business center Self-service laundry Accessible bathroom Accessible parking
  8. Very pleasantly surprised by the condition and service at this La Quinta location! From the outside it doesn't look like much -- standard motel appearance with lots of paint to hide the buildings' age and a little rust here and there on the stairways. However, they're doing everything right, where it counts. New, fluffy towels; fresh new sheets and blankets; clean, updated rooms and decor; and attentive staff. As an example, we picked up a pair of extra towels from the front desk to bring our total to 5. The maid service noticed the difference and we arrived in the evening to find 5 fresh towels plus 5 wash cloths, each with its own bar of soap and shampoo. Free breakfast was not elaborate, but well stocked and covered all the basics in a clean dining area that was well managed, even on Saturday. Solid bargain here, at the current Hotwire rate, anyhow! Also, add to the "amenities" list: -- Accessible parking -- Accessible room
  9. Free parking Free breakfast Free Internet Pet friendly Pool(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access After reading mixed reviews on Tripadvisor I'm a little apprehensive about this location. I guess we'll see... Normal rate on a room here is currently about $84, so not a bad price.
  10. Bidding 3* and using rebid zones, landed this one at $48. Best posted rate I see for this hotel is $79, so about 40% off. No free breakfast, but aside from that the place looks decent. As always, started bidding using PRICELINE link above!
  11. Bidding 2.5* and including several zones around Austin, increased bids slowly and this one landed at $100. It seems the "South by Southwest Music Fest" this weekend in Austin has hotel prices going crazy! I'm not sure what it usually goes for, but the currently listed best rate for this hotel that night is $209, so a great savings. I'm pretty sure this same hotel was listed as a Priceline Express Deal at $107. It may have been worth saving the bidding hassle for the $7 difference. It seems likes more hotels that have inventory listed for bidding are also making them available as Express Deals for just a little more $$, or is it just my imagination...?? As always, followed PRICELINE link to start my bidding!
  12. Amenities listed: Free parkingFree breakfastFree internetNear beachSmoke-free roomsPool(s)Business centerSelf-service laundryInternet accessHotwire was showing 80% recommended. Looks like their posted rates are currently $160 - $189. I've seldom had much luck with Priceline bidding on/near Galveston, so this will do fine. Looks like property is right next door to Moody Gardens and Schlitterbahn Waterpark.
  13. Bidding 2* in this zone only, increasing bids by $3, hit this one at $49/night for 3 nights. Doesn't look like the nicest property, from the reviews. Hope it's decent! Free breakfast, anyway. Started bids with PRICELINE link.
  14. Bidding 2.5*, but scored this 3* at $51. Even with the daily parking garage fee, a nice score compared to the hotel's (somewhat overpriced) nightly rate of $130. Maybe I've just been spoiled by Priceline - LOL! Very decent property, with a cool surf shop and huge aquarium in the lobby! As always, bids started with PRICELINE link above.
  15. Bidding 2.5*, auto-bumped up to 3* and landed this one at $34. Hidden "resort fee" at this property adds another $10/day (maybe $15?). Not a bad deal at this price, but at the normal hotel's standard rate of $87/night this place would have been a disappointment. Staff was friendly, but this is an aging property, showing it in all the expected ways. I did manage to get a good night's sleep the 2nd night, after I braced up one side of the bed frame with brochures, to level the mattress out. As always, started bids with PRICELINE link above.
  16. [ This win is for the Country Inn & Suites, not the Courtyard. The website keeps reverting to Courtyard -- mods please add the Country Inn and correct. ] Bidding 2.5* in both Covington and Slidell zones and incrementing bids slowly, scored this one at $44. Very nice property, well maintained. Best posted rate for this date from a few months ago was $94, so better than 50% savings. As always, started bids with PRICELINE link above.
  17. Increased bids in small increments with rebid zone and landed this one at $50/nt. Freee breakfast at this property! Looks like their best posted rate is currently $85/nt. As always, started bids by following PRICELINE link from Betterbidding!
  18. Bidding for 2.5*, increasing in $2 increments. Scored this one at $50, and auto-bumped to 3*. Looks like the posted rate for this hotel is currently $99/nt, so 50% savings. Not bad. :) No free breakfast here, but all else looks great! As always, did my bidding following the PRICELINE link above.
  19. Bidding 2-1/2* and using re-bid zones I slowly incremented up until scoring this Courtyard Marriott at $52/night. Property's website says renovated in 2011 so it should be a nice hotel. Free parking, but no free breakfast. Their best posted rate was $104/night, so exactly 50% savings (not counting Priceline's ~$7/nt fee). As always, started bidding with PRICELINE link!
  20. Follow-up after our stay: This hotel turned out to be rather bad, and bears the markings of a poorly managed, aging property. Overworked front desk staff struggling to keep up; non-smoking property but room and halls reeked of smoke; evidence here and there of patch-work maintenance and slightly strange paint colors, pool atrium with overpowering chlorine smell. Nothing was terrible, but we were glad to check out of this one. I suppose the rate we paid was reasonable, but at the hotel's room rates this hotel would be a total rip off. Not at all what I would normally expect from a Radisson!
  21. Not new, but a very decent property. Friendly, happy staff, and right on the beach. Kitchenette with small fridge, stove, and microwave as an added bonus. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend!
  22. Should have stuck with 2-1/2*, but decided to go cheap on this stay and bid 2*. Increasing bids in $4 increments, this one hit at $46. With Priceline fees and taxes the total for one night will be $59.32. The hotel's posted rate is $60; with taxes it comes to $67.19, so I scored a grand savings of 12%. Whoopee... Anyway, looks like it has reasonable ratings and a free - albeit basic - breakfast. Started bids with PRICELINE link.
  23. Bidding on 2-1/2* I tried Mount Pleasant and West Charleston zones with no luck up through $60. The airport zone is a little north of where I wanted to be, but after a fail at $55, this one scored at $60. Best listed rate is currently $139, so a bargain compared to that. There was a listing on Hotwire that looks like it's this hotel at $65. Reviews on Tripadvisor are mixed, with some pretty bad ones, so we'll see.... Started bids with PRICELINE link.
  24. I was trying 2-1/2 * in this zone, but no love up to $68/night. I backed down to 2* and incremented up to $60, where I scored this Rodeway Inn. Normal nightly rate on this property is currently $80, so after Priceline fees, not a great deal. Looks like an acceptable property, and still cheaper than anything else I could find in this range. "Started bids with PRICELINE link."
