Using the PRICELINE Widget above, put yet another bid in for $59 for Secaucus-North Bergen, was accepted. Continued happy with accommodations/price point. Thats why I keep bidding it :). Might I recommend an update to the hotel listing for Priceline, as the property is listed as a 1* currently, and the HomeStead suites property listed is actually this property. (It actually says so on the Extended Stay America site AND the HomeSteadHotels site).

Using the PRICELINE Widget above, put a bid in for $59 for Secaucus-North Bergen. Have used the link for several stays around the same price for this property over past two months. Continued happy with accommodations/price point. Thats why I keep bidding it :).

Last minute. It was for two of us, called ahead asking for a two-bed room. As per PRICELINE terms, they weren't able to accommodate, but they were able to supply a roll-away for junior. So pleased with the economical outcome ! Total price $64 bid zone's @ $49 were Raleigh, Cary & Durham.

Using the PRICELINE widget above, won this hotel. Started a bit higher than I normally would, as I need a place to stay tonight fairly close to GaTech. Total damage including taxes and fees was $96

First bid try using 2.5 stars in this are. Hotel is fine, nothing spectacular, of course -- staff accomodated my request for 2 beds. All in all another decent win.

Using the PRICELINE widget above, placed a bid for $51 and got this property (1 Meadowlands Parkway Location). First stay here. Total cost a VERY reasonable $66 per night in this area! Renewed bravery with 2*'s after my reasonable HOTWIRE stay @ HoJo's in Clifton. :)

How about those "PriceLine" immediate "rebids"? e.g. Use the link the first time, make a PL bid, then they counter offer -- and you accept the counter offer? Does the referral still count? With the rebid process, when you find an acceptable deal on rebid, you are prohibited from making another "new" offer, so you are compelled to take the counter, and not go back in. (I often do this, but wanted to support the board the best way possible).

One final note -- the rack room rate seems to be only $4 more than the HotWire price ($87 total -- including tax) for the GeneralManager's special. Just made a reservation on HOJO.com (sorry forgot how to access the links from this site :(

In the interest of fairness -- and to close the loop on this property (at least this stay :) ). I was VERY pleasantly surprised with my room. The hotel has been fairly recently been remodeled (at least my room -- 4th floor). The room was clean, and I was completely satisfied for the star rating of this hotel. I would not be afraid to stay here again, in fact may book a room in the very near future here. No luxury hotel, certainly, but acceptable lodging. Hope that helps

Traveling with two friends and wish to arrive before our golf accommodations take effect and stay one night. I do not wish to sleep in the same bed as either one of them :). Any idea's on how many beds a condo would have? I assume that it will only guarantee two beds, but thought I'd ask. I attempted to ask for a room with 5 people, thus ensuring 3 beds, but would not even allow me to search. Any other tricks?

Got this hotel much to my dismay: Normally avoid 2* that I cannot positively identify in this area for fear of getting the HoJo's on Rt3. Hoping they have renovated (SUBSTANTIALLY) since my last stay. A brief TripAdvisor review on the HowardJohnson.com website, has confirmed my fears -- that this property may even be worse than my last stay. The amenities listed seemed way too extensive for this property, (used to just list free parking and laundry) so I took a chance. Amenities Listed: Business Center, In-room accessibility, Accessible for the blind, Fitness Center, Free Internet Roll-in shower Bathroom has a roll-in shower Full List of amenities using the "click-through" This Hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center Restaurant(s)--Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary. Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Free Parking Free Internet Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Live and learn -- hope this helps fellow "better bidders". Based on my knowledge of the area (a local) my best guesses would be (as there are not many in our area): Hilton Garden (actually located on route 70 just north of Toms River -- between Lakewood and Brick) Ramada on Route 70 (as thereuare mentioned) Holiday Inn on Route 37 Howard Johnson's Route 37 (but I would think this would be a 2* not a 2.5 Quality Inn Route 37 (same 2* estimate) Holiday Inn in Manahawkin on Route 72, but this one would probably be out of the Toms River Area No unique amenities listed, not even the indoor pool to differentiate these. I should think you would be able to narrow it down even further by looking at each hotel's web site for vacancy. Because as thereuare has stated, will not be many single night weekends available on the shore.

Using the Priceline Widget above -- made a bid for 3* in combined Secaucus-North Bergen and Rutherford - Meadowlands. First bid at $75 was accepted. Total $94. (decided to bid a bit higher because stayed twice @ Hilton Hasbrouck Heights -- of course using the PRICELINE link each time :) -- and they asked an extra $10 for parking !)

Using PRICELINE widget above, bid $55 for 2.5 star in Saddlebrook - Hasbrouck Heights. Offered one of the instant "re-bids" for $67, agreed to that bid and won Hilton. Total price with fees and taxes: $82

Indeed it ('Hi-Speed Internet') was listed under the "See All" amenities link! :) Stay was fine, recently renovated room with composite hardwood floors instead of carpet (kind of like that!)

Using the Hotwire Widget above started my search. I had used all my usual bidding tactics on the Priceline site (of course using the widget on this site as well): Secaucus North Bergen 2.5 star for 62, Added Rutherford/Meadowlands upped it to 63, no luck. Tried my old standby of $55 in Saddlebrook, no luck. So went to hotwire, always a bit scary with 2*'s but thought that this would be the RedRoof inn, which looks to have decent reviews. Amenities listed were, Free Parking, Free Internet and Laundry (Self Serve). List Price $60, total price $74. Decent win, as the internet listed price before taxes and fees was $98+.

Using PRICELINE widget (above), put Bid in for $60 for Secaucus North Bergen, declined. Added the Meadowlands and raised my price to $61. Total price is $77 with taxes and fees. Thanks for the Forum!

Using the PRICELINE Widget above, bid on Sunday (3/25) for a Tuesday night (3/27) stay. Booked La Quinta Inn & Suites, Secaucus Meadowlands. $60 bid, $76 total cost. First bid, week previously $55 bids were rejected as were follow-up bids for slight increases, so upped initial bid price just a bit trying to get a win. First time at this location.

Thanks for the previous help. As I said, I was "hoping" that amenity would identify the property. :) Just did not work out that way, your expertise on that is appreciated. Its why I come to this site to begin all my bidding. I finally gave up on PriceLine in my preferred area and went to my "fall back" bidding area of Ridgefield and Saddlebrook Paramus and booked the 2.5* Holiday in located in Saddlebrook at $52 a night! (3/18-20/2012). Used the "add a night" feature once the hotel was identified to add Monday night. As always, used the Priceline widget above to start my bidding. If you should want me to post my win in the Priceline thread please let me know, although I have posted previous wins already to this property.

Thanks for the clarification. Really appreciate it. I too am familiar with the area, so trying to avoid a few that are less than desirable. I am staying for business 3/18 - 3/19. Do not need the airport shuttle, it was merely an identifier I would hope will define the property. There are a couple 2* in this area I would gladly stay at for the price quoted ($56). But there are a couple I would not get near unless it were half that price (and even then I shiver a bit ). I see it only has a 50% rating from HOTWIRE itself, so I will probably pass and try my luck at PRICELINE. Again, thanks for the clarification.

Hi -- looking for a little help on a 2* on Hotwire. As always started my Hotwire Search using the widget above for a room in Secaucus-Meadowlands. :) A $56 for a 2* deal came up, and the amenities listed were: Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s)(more linked also revealed self-serve laundry, business center, and high speed internet). I checked all the chain websites looking for the Airport Shuttle in this area for the hotels I think would be considered a 2* and found NONE that offered that (Airport Shuttle) as amenity, Specifically: HoJo's in Clifton, RedRoof inn Secaucus, both Extended Stay America's (Rutherford & Secaucus), both La Quinta's (Clifton & Secaucus), even the Days Inn in North Bergen. Anyone have any other ideas what property this might be? (Wanting to avoid the dumps obviously).

Using the PRICELINE widget above, booked the Holiday Inn in SaddleBrook for $55 a night, first bid, only locale chosen on this particular bid -- after striking out with similar bids for $55 for 2.5 stars in Secaucus, North Bergen then $56 for same + the Meadowlands. (Total cost $70 with taxes and fees). Have stayed here twice before now. Acceptable property not real nice, but certainly not horrible -- appropriate 2.5 star rating. Rooms were recently redone, but common areas more than a bit tired.

YES AGAIN ! :) First bid $55 was accepted figuring likely get same property, as I said hard to imagine it cheaper. A note about the construction -- it looks to be confined to the lobby and breakfast area. Basically there is no lobby, the breakfast area is in the temporary front desk area. The front of the hotel has a dumpster and big pile of earth. Entrance is around back through parking garage. The normal guest elevators are out of commission and the only elevator is a single service elevator and its dreadfully slow. So if you wanted to meet clients here, probably look elsewhere. HOWEVER, my ROOM was brand-spanking-new, except the tub needed to be "re-enameled". The only thing missing was that new wallpaper glue and carpet smell (thank goodness, don't care for that). It appeared as if everything including the heat/ac, furniture, bed, sink had just been upgraded (e.g. replaced). I am guessing all the rooms are now renovated and the only thing left is the lobby. Front desk (wearing overcoats and gloves due to the proximity to the only door to the place) said, they didn't expect it to be done until early March. So would not be surprised if deals are still to be had here for another month or so. . .also would not be shocked if this hotel is sold in the interim, just seems that's the way things work in that industry. Thanks to "ostrakon" posting his/her recent $60 winning priceline bid -- bid $55 figuring for same property on a last minute bid. Accepted first bid, may have gotten it cheaper, but hard to imagine. I will arrive late and leave early, so unless they work third shift, the constuction will not bother me. :) Even @ $60 for this location it is a deal!
