  1. Booked through the Betterbidding PRICELINE link with the 5% off coupon--thanks! Total after taxes for the two nights is $340.54 CAD, a real bargain compared to the $680.86 rate I was offered through Fairmont's President's Club loyalty program. Amenities: Business CenterFitness CenterNon SmokingPets AllowedSwimming Pool Very Good 8+ 2100 verified guest reviews
  2. Listed amenities: Free Internet, Restaurant, Pets Permitted, "Exceptional" customer rating. I was 100% sure this PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal would be the Westin Palace. We spent four nights at the Ritz last week, but since we would only be in Madrid for 14 hours before our return flight home on this leg of our trip, I decided to save $300 and gamble a bit. Since it's right across the street from the Ritz, we are already familiar with the location. I used the PRICELINE link on this site to begin my purchase.
  3. I agree, the photos of the Marriott Opera look quite nice on the Marriott website, but some of the photos and reviews on TripAdvisor gave me cause for concern. I like the looks of the other two Marriott properties in Paris much more. Le Marianne was offered on Jetsetter for just 10 days as a flash sale; that's why it is no longer showing as available. I believe I saved about $500 total by booking through Jetsetter compared to other websites (including Le Marianne's). The only caveat is that the booking is non-changeable and non-refundable.
  4. Yes, even though it was cancelled the reservation information is still available in my account. Hotel Amenities Free Internet Pet friendly Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Business center Internet access Accessibility Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower I ended up booking Hotel Le Marianne through Jetsetter
  5. Wow-- they have actually refunded my purchase! The supervisor cross-referenced the Hotwire rating with Expedia and agreed that there is an error and it should be listed as a 4 star. He has forwarded the issue to their IT department to make the necessary changes. He said this is only the second or third time in his tenure at Hotwire where he has seen this kind of discrepancy. And while I was on hold, I decided I didn't want to leave our week in Paris to chance, so I booked another hotel directly.
  6. Currently on hold with Hotwire disputing this reservation. I did my research here and anticipated the 4.5* Intercontinental Le Grand. This Marriott is a 4* hotel on Expedia, Hotels.com, and on Marriott's own website-- not a 4.5*. I got nowhere with the first customer service rep. Now on hold for a supervisor. I've never been downgraded during a Hotwire purchase before. Grrr... (Yes, I used the link here to begin my search.)
  7. No, I did not book through HOTWIRE or PRICELINE. The best price I found for the resort we wanted was a package rate through Delta Vacations.
  8. So we got 25cm of snow here yesterday, and I guess that inspired me to book a beach resort holiday instead of Las Vegas. Thank you for your help with this inquiry anyway. Judging from another recent posting it looks like it was for Mandarin Oriental -- what a great deal!
  9. That's a match for the property I was considering for March 10-15 (@ $136 per night). I've stayed at Mandarin Oriental before-- it's the best hotel in Las Vegas. Congratulations!
  10. The rate has gone up to $150 per night since I last checked. If I decided to book this trip, what do you think of purchasing just one night, then if the revealed hotel is acceptable, perhaps I could go back and book four more nights? If it's showing as available for all 5 nights, is there any risk to breaking it down this way? I can't remember if Hotwire is like Priceline, where after the bid is accepted you have sometimes have the option of adding extra nights at the same rate. Thanks again.
  11. Hmm... that's a good point about the location. Still, I would be surprised if it's Mandarin Oriental since there haven't been any other reports of people getting that hotel on Hotwire. I did find one post from someone who did get Four Seasons, so I'm more inclined to think it might be that. I hope to make a decision on our plans by tomorrow or Saturday at the latest. I will report back if I do go for this Hotwire deal. Thanks!
  12. Search Dates: March 10-15 My search turned up three 5-star hotels in the SOUTH Strip Area, two of which do NOT list a casino as an amenity. The only 5-star South Strip hotels that do not have casinos are Vdara, Mandarin Oriental and Four Seasons. I'm pretty sure the cheaper of the two must be Vdara, both because of the price and because Vdara rooms have kitchenettes and are true suites. So am I safe in assuming the other one MUST be Mandarin Oriental or Four Seasons? I'd be thrilled with either for the price. Here are the descriptions: OPTION A: 5-star Hotel in The Strip - South: $104 per night; 90% Recommendation by Hotwire Reviewers This Hotel features the following amenities: Free Parking Free Internet Suite Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Spa Services Accessible for the blind Braille or raised signage Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower OPTION B: 5-star Hotel in The Strip - South: $134 per night; 100% Recommendation by Hotwire Reviewers This Hotel features the following amenities: Accessible for the blind Braille or raised signage Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Wheelchair accessible common areas Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower Thanks again! (And yes, I began my search using the HOTWIRE link on this site).
  13. Venice is no longer in the running-- no convenient/reasonably priced flights available. Back to the drawing board...
  14. Darn, that's too bad, but that was my best guess too after cross-referencing with Expedia. Since the Dei Dogi is not on the pinned hotels list I thought maybe it might be the Ca' Sagredo, but at that price I would have been very surprised.
  15. Okay, done and done. The US rate is $187 per night. Thanks.
  16. Looking at a possible Venice trip. Found a great rate on Hotwire for a 5-star hotel but I can't find a possible match. It has a 4/5 rating on TripAdvisor. Here are the details: March 10-16, 2013. $191.90 CAD per night. 5-star Hotel in Cannaregio - Venetian Ghetto This Hotel features the following amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Guest rooms at this hotel are always smoke-free. Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary. Business Center Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply. Laundry Facilities (self-service) <amenity names only please... not descriptions> High-Speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. Spa Services Guests have access to a spa facility or spa services; an extra charge typically applies. Our 5-star hotels include: Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts and other brand-name and independent hotels
  17. I needed to reserve a local hotel for visiting relatives. Yesterday I tried submitting a $45 bid for a 3* London South hotel (rejected), then increased my bid to $50 and added London Central (also rejected). Today I tried again at $50 (rejected), so I added 2.5* hotels and increased my bid to $55. I was happy to get the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites for $69.77 total including taxes and fees (vs. the $108.91 published rate). This is the same hotel I put them up in last year, and the same hotel I've stayed in myself while renovating. I used the PRICELINE link on this site to begin the bidding process
  18. Hi, I *did* use the PRICELINE link here to start my bidding process (as I always do). Did it not register? My purchase "timed out" because I'd made a keystroke error with my postal code, so I was sent an email, clicked on that link to correct the information and resubmit, then the purchase was confirmed.
  19. Based on recent wins for Wynn posted on this forum I tried an opening bid of $90 for a 5* Las Vegas (Strip North) property, but it was rejected. I was offered an immediate opportunity to increase my bid to $115 per night, but instead I increased my bid to $95 and added "Boulder Strip". That bid was accepted and my total price with taxes and fees, is $440 for the 4 nights. The best rate I could find elsewhere was through the Wynn website using their EARLYBOOKING promo code, for $644 total, so I'm very pleased with the savings. Thanks again, Betterbidding.com!
  20. Our dates are August 8-12 (4 nights, 2 people), for which I'm seeing a rate of $103 with the following features: Casino, Fitness, Pools, Restaurant, Business Centre, Internet, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby. When I click on "show all amenities" the Spa icon also appears. Is this likely Wynn, since Venetian/Palazzo would be identified as "Suites"? Judging by recent wins it looks like most people are getting Wynn. To compare I tried bidding $90 on Priceline for 5* hotel North Strip and it was rejected, with the message that I could increase my bid now to $115. PS: I apologize-- I posted this in the wrong forum originally.
  21. I just booked this hotel for my sister and her family who are passing through town for one night. We stayed here ourselves 3 months ago during our renovations, and it was surprisingly nice for a Holiday Inn-- very comfortable rooms, good facilities and even room service! Started bidding at $40 for a 3.5 star downtown (according to PRICELINE that was the "best buy"), but it was rejected. Added 3 star downtown and increased bid to $45 again with no luck (really thought we'd get the Delta Armouries at that price since it's on HOTWIRE for $59 right now). Finally added "South" London and increased the bid to $50 and got the Holiday Inn. I started my bidding process with the PRICELINE link on this site. Thanks again!
  22. Oops-- forgot to put the dates in the header: August 20/21, 2010 (one night). This was a pleasant surprise-- I assumed we'd get the Marriott (definitely prefer the Crowne Plaza). The Priceline rate plus offsite longterm parking is less expensive than booking the park-n-fly package through Crowne Plaza by about $60. (And yes, I used the PRICELINE link here to begin the bidding process).
  23. I tried bidding $50 for a 3.5 star property in London Central but the bid was rejected. I added London South and increased my bid to $65 but again the bid was rejected. I added a 3 star property and reduced my bid to $50 and got the Radisson Hotel and Suites. Radisson's website's rate for each night is $119.95, so I'm pleased with the result. I used the PRICELINE link here to begin my purchase.
  24. Thanks so much for your thoughtful response. I took your advice and decided to forego a luxury splurge since: (1) There doesn't seem to be a preeminent luxury hotel in SJ; (2) We have an early flight the next morning so would not get to sleep in, enjoy breakfast at the hotel, etc. anwyay. I tried bidding on Priceline for a 4-star deluxe or resort but was unsuccessful bidding up to $100. So I just ended up using my travel Visa points and booked the Doubletree Hilton for the equivalent of $119. It's not usually the type of hotel I like to stay in, but it's ranked #2 on Tripadvisor and the reviews are glowing, so I'm sure it will be fine for just one night. Thanks again for your help.
  25. Needed a hotel for a 10 hour layover at ATL. Tried a bid of $50 for a 4-star in Airport (North) zone, rejected. Re-bid $50 adding Airport (South) zone, rejected. Added 3.5-star and rebid $50 in both Airport North and South and was successful. Was hoping for the Renaissance Concourse or the Crowne Plaza, but the newly renovated Sheraton looks really nice, and for $5 per hour I guess I can't complain! :) (Yes, I did use the PRICELINE link on this site to begin my purchase).
