$36 first bid, accepted. Bid was placed on morning of reservation. The Doubletree is nice but it is very annoying that they charge ca. $12/day for internet access. Used the PRICELINE link.

When I use the "Extend your stay" link, I get the message: "We're sorry Unfortunately, we are not able to add nights to reservations at the Four Points By Sheraton Bakersfield. Please note: Our customer service agents have access to the same hotel rates and availability as our customers do on our website. They are not able to make this booking on your behalf. If you would like to see additional rates available for your hotel click here." It appears to be a policy and is not for lack of rooms. I got the property on a bid and then decided to extend my stay. When it would not allow me, I started a new bid for Bakersfield and got the Sheraton again. Business must be pretty slow in Bakersfield these days. I have stayed at the Sheraton many times over the years. but have had to bid quite a bit higher in the past to get it.

Made multiple bids for 3* Napa (hoping to get the Embassy Suites) up to $90, rejected. Tried moving to Fairfield, offered $60 for 3*, rejected. Included Vallejo-American Canyon, accepted. Another poster reported getting this hotel while bidding in Fairfield in Oct 2009. Apparently Priceline has put this hotel where it belongs. The location is not the best for my needs, but a good price for a newly renovated hotel. They have done a major remodel and the rooms are quite nice now. There is free wireless in the lobby. It is also nice that they have maintained free parking despite the proximity to the conventional center. This is not the case for other Marriotts at which I stay. My own (minor) complaints were that the shower was often lukewarm at best and apparently only the executive rooms have radios.
