In my MBA accounting class, the seasoned professor who is a banker, started to talk about the hotel industry. In our fixed/variable cost analysis problems, we had to figure out what a hotel had to charge to break even. The problem we did calculated that the variable cost for one nights stay was $12. Which seems a reasonable cost to wash sheets and have housekeeping clean the room. I highly doubt that variable cost changes at all based on the room you stay in. In his discussion, he mentioned that most hotels have an occupancy of 63% on average. I figure if you can get a room at a great rate, chances are the occupancy for that time period is estimated to be very low. If it is low, the hotel has NOTHING to lose if they bump you to a nicer room with a view. They do have loyalty and reputation to gain. Comments? -JB

Total was $352. Room was an older room on the 47th floor. We had a king bed. It was totally worth it for the ability to tell everyone we stayed there, I believe the rates on their site were 399 for those nights. -JB

I have also been banned from TOBB for no good reason. How can all of this bad publicity be good for business? Searching her name on google brings up bad stuff from as far as 3 years ago. I will still use TOBB as a priceline reference because it has a large history and it also has more hotels listed on the hotels list. (Even though I have heard rumors that some of the lists have hotels that have never shown up on priceline because she gets a commission if someone gets a reservation from clicking her link) My allegiance is not to a any specific website, it is to all of the bargain hunters out there who are seeing our country and the world! And since TOBB doesn't want me to share my information anymore, I will share it here. If she lets me back on, I will share in both places. Cheers. -JB
