  1. 3.5-star hotel in LA Intl Airport LAX $105 (shuttle, gym, pool, restaurant, business center, Internet)
  2. Hotwire, actually. Santa Monica area. Radisson LAX.
  3. Booked (through the savingsbarn) - the Radisson. 1 room(s) @ $105.00 per night x 3 night(s) Hotel subtotal $315.00 Taxes, recovery charges, and fees $47.42 Total $362.42 Some hotels may apply additional charges for incidental fees such as parking. Prices are in $USD. $362.42 Thanks for all the help!
  4. It is? Bummer. I wouldn't mind Santa Monica, but I thought it's kinda expensive. We are 4 and we'd like to keep the budget under $150 per night. That means either a quad room or two doubles at under $80 each.
  5. Any recommandations between Long Beach an LAX? I have no idea which one would be a better choice.
  6. Just checked using the link you provided and: - the $103 is still there but at $109 - the $105 is there - the $62 (when searching for 2 rooms) is gone :) the best I got instead was:
  7. Oops, my mistake, sorry. The correct dates are 07/25/2007 - 07/28/2007. The topic title was wrong. Please fix it if possible.
  8. Checked. I can still see it. Hmmm, is it possible that Hotwire has changed its algorithms to lie juuuust a little bit? Those 3.5* between 2 and 1 rooms also looks awfully similar except the amenities...
  9. Looks like I need a little more help, for the third leg of our trip. The destinations are... all over the place: Venice Beach, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Observatory, etc. While I'd just want to sleep on the beach and maybe snorkel at Catalina Island. So I'd guess we need a place that is fairly central, well connected. Close to the ocean is a plus. I bid on Priceline ( through savingsbarn) for 2 4* rooms on Long Beach and LAX between $50 and $80 per room but got nothing. Now I am looking on HOTWIRE (quad occupancies): 3-star hotel in Long Beach $103 (shuttle, gym, pool, restaurant, laundry, Internet) 3.5-star hotel in LA Intl Airport LAX $105 (shuttle, gym, pool, restaurant, business center, Internet) Looking for 2 rooms I get: 3.5-star hotel in LA Intl Airport LAX $62 (b-fast, gym, pool, business center, Internet) Interestingly, the 3.5's in lax seem to be different. They differ in amenities and the $62 one is "customer favorite". Any opinions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
  10. And booked through your HOTWIRE link. It was indeed Imperial Palace, at $74/night though.
  11. OK, I booked The Pod through the link you provided. Thanks!
  12. Reading a little more on this, I don't think it's such a great idea. Not for us anyway. We'll pony up the cash. Do you still recommend Excalibur in that case?
  13. You mean booking for 2 and showing up with 4? :) Wouldn't that be against contract or something? Nothing ruins a vacation faster than being chased out of your hotel by security... So I guess we are not very comfortable doing that then. Unless everybody tells me it's OK in Vegas. :) Splitting: for 3 nights we would like to avoid that. I heaven't really thought about 1*, I was looking at 3*+. It depends on what that means in Vegas: dump or basic but utilitarian and clean? We DO have a car, so if parking on the Strip is easy, then we could stay a bit further and drive over. Not sure how much hassle would it be with wanting to see it all though - let me know if it isn't a great idea. All I know about Vegas I learned from CSI :o . So far the best offer I could find was about $350 for the stay (1room 2qeens 4ppl) at Circus Circus (3*, a bit further on the strip) through a "promotions" website. Should I be able to get something better for the money? And how? Thank you very much for all your help.
  14. I think The Pod is an excellent suggestion, thanks! The location is much better than Secaucus for us, considering that we want to see as much NY as possible in the time we have. Before I book (through your link, of course) do you think I should try again priceline JC with the higher bid (100/113)?
  15. Cheapest option. :-) No problem with quad occupancy. Two rooms would be nice if only 10-20 bucks more expensive overall. Otherwise 1 room with two queen beds is our choice.
  16. No, we can't split the bid. The risk of ending up in 2 hotels is too high. Since we only have 4 days in Manhattan, we don't want to waste a day moving luggage. The same reason we don't want to stay far from Manhattan: too little time, too many things to see. We'll go as high as we have to... I mean we have to stay somewhere while visiting Manhattan. We're just trying to pay as little for it as possible so that we have more budget for other fun stuff to do there. :) We'd gladly share a quad room if this is cheaper. I only ignored this option for Priceline, because of the "double occupancy only" guarantee.
  17. It'd be great to keep it under $100 for the four of us. Don't care about luxuriously decandent 10* :) Any ideas where to find such a beast? I will use the Support links to purchase, of course. The fact that we are four makes things even more difficult... Thanks for any tips!
  18. Hello, We are 2 couples flying into NYC from Europe and targeting mainly Manhattan. Looking for a 3*+ hotel inside or very close to Manhattan, hoping to keep it under $100 per room. We need 2 rooms for the four of us, I guess. Reading this board, Jersey City on the Hudson seemed like a very good idea. However, I've been bidding the last 2 days $70 & $80 - rejected. Edit: Of course, I used the SavingsBarn.com links to access Priceline for bidding - the least I can do to support this aswesome forum that tought me so much abot lodging in a city I neve saw in my life! I do not know what I should do now. Wait while trying again? Increase the bid? Look somewhere inside Manhattan? Prices seem pretty high there. But we will pay if we have no choice... Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! We were thinking that July is a little more relaxed in NYC, but now I am afraid we made a mistake choosing our vacation destination...
