  1. $45 Downtown Toronto North zone

Free rebid at $60 available - ignored

    $50 +Downtown Toronto SW zone

    Rejected

    $53 +Downtown Toronto SE zone

    Accepted

    Isabella Hotel And Suites

    556 Sherbourne Street

    Toronto, ON, M4X 1L3

    2 stars

Priceline effectively upped my bid to $54.50 by adding a "Hotel fee" to the confirmation page.  Missed that but wasn't impressed.

I wasn't very pleased with this "win" as I had hoped to get a hotel that was shown as a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal.

  2. I didn't book this but the booking confirmation page said "Book soon! The last person got the Urban Living Suites".  (I'm not sure if this line would always appear for this property?).

    Smoke-free rooms

$322 including taxes and fees.  It's available non-opaque for $323 anyway (junior studio, no window - only a skylight).

  3. I am trying to get a hotel for 9/23-9/27.  It seems that room rates are quite high for this period for some reason.  The TIFF is the week before but I'm not aware of anything going on during the period I am looking to book.

    I have tried:

    4*

    Downtown SW

    Downtown SE

Bids up to $110 (that was a typo mistake, thankfully I didn't get one!) but it then said try your bid at $175.

Strangely I got a follow up e-mail with a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal at $87, but when I clicked through no such thing showed up.

    3.5*

    Downtown SW

    Downtown SE

    Bids up to $75

    3*

    Downtown SW

    Bids up to $60

I am going to have to keep trying in coming days but it's not looking good.

  4. I saw this hotel on Hotwire several days ago and noticed today that the rate had fallen by 5% to $87/night. I was fairly certain of its identity prior to purchase. The rate includes free breakfast and the hotel also has free Wi-Fi and parking. The dates fall when the Spanish Grand Prix is on, so rates and availability in Barcelona are affected by that.

NB: CPS isn't a free rebid zone but I didn't mind risking getting a hotel in that location (another zone could have been used instead to restrict it to MTE).

  6. Tried to bid for this hotel in previous weeks on PL but no wins. It was listed on Hotwire (for this date) at $89 previously. However I saw yesterday the Hotwire rate had fallen to $58.

I decided to bid on it in Priceline - figured I'd be able to get it for $50. Went in with a start bid of $45, which was accepted (note, despite this Priceline red banner with your bid is unlikely to be accepted showed up, as did the secondary warning screen asking if you want to submit a higher bid). As my first bid won, in hindsight I should have started lower, but I'm not sure what the lowest winnable rate would have been.

    Downtown Vancouver

    1110 Howe Street At Helmcken

  7. Follow up: The same morning as check in I tried to use he extend my stay by one night. Rejected by Priceline but it counteroffered with $81:

We searched the Hyatt Regency Vancouver, however we were not able to find an additional night for your price of $69 per room, per night. Your credit card has not been charged. During our search we found a rate of $81 per room, per night. If you are willing to accept this new price, you can get your additional night right now. Your original reservation will remain unchanged.
  8. Interesting to see from the bid history the apparent lack of "cheap" inventory in Vancouver at the moment. I'm wondering if hotels there are waiting until closer to the date to turn rooms over to PRICELINE (e.g. perhaps one week in advance) - as potentially evidenced by Tash79's experience eventually winning the Hyatt. I read in the paper that a local hotel GM says people are waiting later to book trips in this economic climate, so maybe hotels want to hold on to the rooms themselves for a bit longer to see what they can fill...?

  9. Spent a few days on this bid.

Bid 3* up to $45 and 2* up to $40. Saw the Hyatt had gone for $70 so wasn't willing to take these higher.

Was determined to find the lowest bid that could win the Hyatt :) so:

    $60 Rejected.

    $65 Rejected - counteroffer "add $17"

    $68 Rejected - counteroffer "add $17"

    $69 Accepted.

Hotwire has a 2.5* for $87.5 and two 4* (suspected Westin Bayshore and Delta Suites) for $98. So I think this is a good deal for a Saturday night in the summer.

  10. I have been bidding (unsuccessfully) on Downtown Vancouver for the past few days. Prices seem rather high this coming weekend for some reason.

    I am looking at 1 night 5/30 and 1 night 6/1.

These are my bids so far (I started low as I started early, but I still thought I may have hit on something so far).

    For 6/1 - I have bid on 4* on 6/1 up to 60$. On 3* up to $35.

For 5/30 - I have bid 3* up to $42. On 2* up to $40. I expect this day to be more expensive as it's a weekend.

All rejected. I think it's going to be more expensive than expected as for 6/1 looking at Hotwire there's a $70 2.5* in Downtown and an $82 3.5*. :)

  11. Bid $30 on 3* Portland PDX area.

Rejected, but free rebid if I increase by $8.

I never take that option so I added Downtown zone and bid $33.

    Rejected.

Added Convention Center zone. Rebid $35.

    Accepted.

I was expecting the Holiday Inn but the reviews on Tripadvisor for this place are more positive than for the HI so that's a plus.

  12. First of all bid up to $40 on 3* in Redmond-Bellevue and Renton-Kent areas. Rejected.
