  1. Tried to use Priceline's "extend your stay" option at the Holiday Inn (at $35) but was rejected. So went in to rebid hoping to get it at a higher price (as this was a Saturday night stay). Wound up winning the Coast Plaza instead though. Started at $30 (in case the HI was in fact booked up and somewhere else had inventory at this level) - rejected Added Langley Rebid $35 - rejected Added North Vancouver Rebid $40 - accepted Coast Plaza Suite Hotel 1763 Comox Street Vancouver, BC V6G 1P6 604-688-7711 Subsequently used "extend your stay" to add one more night at this hotel at the same price.
  2. Bid $25 rejected. Added Langley zone for re-bid. Bid $30 accepted. Holiday Inn Downtown Vancouver Downtown Vancouver 1110 Howe Street At Helmcken Vancouver, British Columbia V6Z 1R2 604-684-2151 Great price and was very happy with the hotel.
  3. I recently bid 3* in this zone for stays in February and have won both the Holiday Inn and Coast Plaza (due to split bids).

I think this is a good deal - cheapest non-opaque rate was $115/nt + taxes on Sol website.
  5. As I write this the free rebid zones for Fort Lauderdale on a 3* are "Miramar" and "Fort Lauderdale Airport North". You should always double check this though, by opening a new bid window for the area and selecting each zone checkbox one by one independently and seeing what * options get greyed out in the boxes below on the bid entry page. If 3* and above is greyed you know that zone can be use for a free rebid. The hotel list shows the Sheraton Suites is another 3* previously won in the "North" zone - so you could get that or another as yet unreported hotel. Good luck and let us know what happens. I think your bid of $65 will be too low though for this date as it's very busy. I bid up to $90 for 1 night 20/2-21/2 in this zone today and got rejected. Every day can go for different prices though...
  6. 2.5-star hotel in North Fort Lauderdale This limited-service establishment offers accommodations suited to value-conscious travelers. Complimentary breakfast, Fitness, Pool, Laundry, High speed internet ------------------- Extended Stay Deluxe Fort Lauderdale - Cypress Creek - Park North 1401 SW 15th Street Pompano Beach, Florida 33069 (954) 783-1050 Check-in date Wed, Feb 20, 2008 Check-out date Thu, Feb 21, 2008 1 room(s) @ $53.00 per night x 1 night(s) $53.00 Tax recovery charge and fees $11.95 Hotel subtotal $64.95 ------------------- This was just too cheap to pass up on! I arrive at midnight and then move to the Marriott the next morning so all I needed was a bed for the night and everything in FLL is expensive and booked up in this period!

  9. 3.5-star hotel in Boca Raton Customer Favorite! This distinctive establishment offers comfortable rooms, personal service and some upscale features. Smoke free, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Hi speed internet, Golf nearby ---------------------- Marriott Boca Raton 5150 Town Center Circle Boca Raton, Florida 33486 (561) 392-4600 1 room(s) @ $116.00 per night x 5 night(s) $580.00 Tax recovery charge and fees Hotel subtotal $65.11 $645.11 Total $645.11 ----------- I wanted 20/2-26/2 but the 20th (1 extra day) added $213 by ramping the average rate up to $129. And trying to take that day on its own comes in at $299! So I plan to stay at the airport (or anywhere) that I can easily get for less than $213 for a night (I fly in late anyway so it really doesn't matter)! I'm really happy with this buy, Southern Florida is really expensive (and many hotels sold out) in this period, I tried priceline/hotwire in FLL, MIA and PBI - all up the coast before finding this.
  10. Just want to follow up on this hotel having now stayed there. I don't think Priceline should have it as a 3*. Overall, it reminds me of a Holiday Inn Express type level. So, as I said in the earlier post, I advise not bidding 3* in downtown LA.
  11. Saw a 4* on Hotwire for $59 + tax fees etc. I was going to go with that, but thought why not try a lower bid on PL to see what happens... Was pressed for time and had limited access to the net. Was surprised my first bid was accepted, maybe I could have saved a few more dollars, but the price was good anyway. 1st Bid - $45 on a 4* in Phoenix - Scottsdale area. ACCEPTED. However, having now stayed there - it does have a nice outdoor pool and hottub. The rooms are all suites and have a private patio - large, high spec and nicely decorated (this is a timeshare resort). Great hotel, great price! Seemed a shame to leave.
  12. Just to close this thread off, in the end, I booked the Sheraton Princess through sheraton.com - it was the cheapest site. Although they didn't have avilability for the Fri or Sat nights, which I had to book seperately on a 3rd party site to combine for the whole week. Hopefully I won't have to change rooms though. Weird sheraton had none of their own rooms but other people did. :)

  15. Hi thereuare, Many thanks for your reply and ID on the Hotwire hotel. Resortquest website lists that one at $184/nt (+tax). An update - I bid $125 on the 3* and it said I could rebid for free if I upped bid by $22. Including taxes and fees that would come to $174 - not far off the $189 rack rate (+tax) of the Prince Kuhio (assuming that's what you'd get). Not a great deal for an opaque... :) I arrive late on the Thursday night, so I could take staying one night in a hotel I don't really want to be in. So I thought I would use it as a test to see if I could get the Kuhio that night through PL. And if it worked, I'd rebid for the rest of the 6 days (hoping to get the same hotel). As on Priceline the Sheraton is not listed as having any rooms for 12/7 but Kuhio is, I assumed this might be the hotel I would get, but your ID of the Hotwire one makes me wonder if the PL one isn't that too (although they don't list that hotel on their regular listings...)
  16. 3* Oahu (Waikiki Central) 12/7 to 13/7 Bid $95 - rejected added airport region Bid $105 - rejected added diamond head region Bid $115 - rejected (inc. service fees = $137 - close to the $150 for Sheraton Princess on Expedia At this level, not much point continuing unless you get the Hilton Kuhio (incidentally, priceline has only that at 3* in this area on its non-opaque listings - Sheraton Princess unavilable that date).
  17. Decided to try a split bid of 15/7-19/7 on resorts in waikiki beach area (in case it was an inventory issue). Bid $150 - rejected. Added 4* and rebid $150 - rejected.
  18. Well, I've looked at splitting the bids. On Hotwire, the dates 15/7-19/7 indicate $155 for what presumably the Hawaii Prince (4*, North area, customer favorite). The dates 12/7-14/7 however come in at $174. So I could average down (to $163) by buying seperately (as 12/7-19/7 lists at $174). Problem is Hotwire then adds taxes and fees on top. Thought about going back to priceline and trying to beat this, but risk of getting the Ala Moana instead. Plus, the Prince looks a bit far out of the central area. Going to have to think some more. :)

  20. Just rebid on Resorts in Waikiki Beach and Marina area at $175, by adding Executive center. Rejected. Henrik: thanks for the advice. I can get the Sheraton Princess for $150 a night (3*) off Expedia. I really don't want to get the Ala Moana (supposed 4* on Priceline) by bidding Marina - it's too far out (the Hawaii Prince would be good though). It's looking like its going to be too expensive to go for a 4* or resort on priceline. Going to have to think on this...
  21. OK, went in with a new browser session and with Waikiki Beach area 4*, at $130. Rejected, added airport area and rebid $150. Rejected. Added Diamond head area. Rebid $160. Rejected.
  22. Ok, added Diamond Head area, went for a rebid $165 and got rejected.
  23. Was hoping to hit Hyatt Regency, seems some other people have got great prices on this hotel. First off, note that for some reason I could continue rebidding last night (I'd never used Priceline before) - so I got a bunch of chances bidding the same product at different prices. However, this morning I now get the 24hr notice :) Started bid at $100 for 4* Waikiki beach area. System apparently ticked resorts as well. Closed browser, changed bidding strategy to resorts only Waikiki beach area, rebid $130, rebid $140, rebid $150, rebid $160, rebid $165. All rejected. Added Waikiki Marina area, hoping to hit HHV. Rebid at $151. Rejected. Must be because this is busy season and the rates are a lot higher. Not sure what I'm going to do. Either go to $170 on Marina and Beach area, or tick 4* and go for beach area, rebidding at say $130.
